I contacted a half dozen companies using the internet and laid out some specific items that we needed taken care of and requesting a quote. I specified manufacturer for the leaking faucet. Earlier I had one of the national chain companies in and had sent them away after their quote, so had some idea of what I was in for. Jim was the first to respond with a rather detailed quote, along with specific problems that might drive the cost up. All of the other responses (only two others even answered) were the generic "Time and Materials." My initial inquiry had been for three items. When the plumber arrived, promptly and on time, The list had grown to five things I needed taken care of, two new items had arisen since the appointment. Mark didnt blink and eye, provided the costs for the items and set to work, and also explained what the risks were with each of the items, so I could make a decision as to whether we should move forward with each of them. We agreed on resolving four of the five and he promptly went to work and a bit of exploration on the fifth to determine the extent. We didnt do the fifth, (I have to go out and get a new faucet set, the old one is beyond salvage thanks to my initial attempts to fix it myself.) Two hours later and he was done, having replaced a broken frost free hose-bib and adding in a cut-off valve, fixed a leaking bathtub faucet (barrel type with corroded brass ring), replaced the internal parts of a toilet and cleaning up a gas fitting for the grill with a new valve and removing the steel and putting in brass. The bill was itemized, showed all the parts used and the labor for each repair. I even added a couple of items in (the cut-off valve and new toilet supply line) on his recommendation. Fortunately, none of the contingency issues came up, mostly due to Marks skills and experience! Others may have quickly gone the easy route and cost me a great deal of additional money. I was very pleased with the pricing and will certainly call on Jim and his team in the future.

I had noticed some back up in my drain and decided to call the this plumber to get ahead of the game. (Had not spilled over) Initially the response time was appropriate. The plumber stated that everything looked fine and told us a drain clean out was unnecessary. Billed us $88. 4 days later, we had a back up. Call the company back. Was told someone would come back out since they were just here. My husband was told on a phone call that they would call him "right back" to verify a time would work for them. Never heard back that day. Left multiple voicemails and never heard back. Ended up utilizing a different company. Buyer beware.

For everyone in the contracting or skilled trades business - THIS is the way to operate. Jim came out to our house the same day we reported a sewage backup. Shortly after arriving, he quickly and confidently diagnosed the issue. He also clearly explained exactly what the problem was and how he would fix it. Every step of the process was completely transparent and I never felt taken advantage of. The job was fixed in less than an hour and everything appears to be A-OK with our plumbing system. I highly recommend Jim Peterson plumbing to everyone and we will certainly be using his services again when needed.

Jim did great work, charged a reasonable price, and kept our appointment despite being shorthanded (and in a snow-storm!). I will use him again and would definitely recommend him.
