Wish I had just went to the dealer this time.... I went to a shop in Jackson to check on an exhaust leak. The guy there replaced the donut gasket where the manifold meets the cat with an aftermarket gasket . The car still made noise. The Jackson mechanic told me it was the manifold. Wanting to make sure it was that before spending $700 on a new manifold install from the dealer I took it to palmer with the genuine OEM gasket for a second opinion. They agreed that it was just the wrong gasket and they did the labor of replacement (2 bolts) for around $90. They said the old gasket the Jackson mechanic put on did not fit very well at all. It sounded quieter for a few days (maybe it was in my head) but I quickly heard the same noise during acceleration. I took it back to palmer about 5 months later when I could afford to be without a car again and had them inspect it again. The mechanic said he believed it to be the springs. I asked how sure he was it was in-fact the springs and not the manifold, he said he was pretty sure the manifold was fine. He said if it did turn out to be the manifold he could "work something out with me" by discounting the spring replacement labor. That inspection only cost around $30. Not bad. So I made the appointment to take it in to put on new OEM springs and a new OEM gasket. After that was done they met me at the desk and said it was the manifold afterall and there was a small crack that they did not see and that they had to use a smoke machine to find it. Fair enough. The bill came to $197 for 1 hour of labor and the dealer-overpriced spring/gasket kit. I told the man at the desk the mechanic said he would do me a favor on the price if it turned out to be the manifold. After 15 minutes of awkward back and forth they finally gave me $46 off on labor and did in-fact keep their word on discounting the labor. I am not leaving a 5 star review because the crack in the manifold should have been seen sometime during the first two visits before I paid for a second unneeded set of $107 springs/gasket. Everyone at palmer was relatively friendly but the whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. I literally just threw money away. A lesson learned for me being a cheap *** and not just taking it to the dealer. I mean the labor rate at palmer of $92/hr isnt much less than GM..

Fast, friendly, fair service. I broke down a few miles from here. I called ahead of time and they said theyd be able to check the problem with my vehicle the same day. The problem was simple and they charged only 1/2 hour labor and had the car ready for me to pick up after work that day.
