People who respond to auto repair visits first are ignorant no nothing of a car/truck, Any body who states their visit to a auto repair facility is horrible should give a full description of their problem and contact the service department of their complaint. In my opinion Customers always listen to somebody who is not a certified mechanic or have degree in any automotive back ground. So people, Before you speak of your problems like most americans do and complain about something you know nothing about you should always consider a second opinion from another shop. And I do mean a reputable shop not a fly by night shop ran by foreigners who do not speak english or nor understand the english language. Ive been in the automotive business with much success and been working on cars and trucks for a very long time. And time and time again I hear complaints from other shops and what people think they should of done when servicing their car. The problem is like a family waiting at the hospital when a family member is under the knife and the doctor comes out and says theirs nothing we can do, Then one of the family members first instinct is too sue the hospital for malpractice when that person has no idea of what a doctor goes through and has done to save that person in the first place. Same goes for cars and trucks so people dont comment on something that does not make sense like most of the comments I read on this post. To clarify the situation, I have no relation to this company nor have I ever or will I ever. Im tired of hearing bull crap from people who know nothing about something and try to comment or suggest that the company should of done this or that. If your a know it all then do it your self and done ask professional people questions you should already have the answer too. Like I said I have no ties to this company Im Tired of people who comment on service work that is being done and not being done right in that case leave your car or truck broke down on the side of the road and do your self a favor wait in front of traffic until somebody runs you over so nobody has to hear your bull crap any more. Thank-You for time to comment and respond to the idiots out in the world who think they know it all and what a company should do and how to run their business.

TOOK 1999 MERCURY COUGAR IN FOR CHECK OF SUSPENSION. ANTHONY SAID FREE, BUT SERVICE CHARGED $20.00 MECHANIC "PHAN" INSPECTED VEHICLE, WROTE UP QUOTE OF $2,500.00 STATING THAT ALL 4 STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED, L/R LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND UPPER SWAY BAY LINKS HAD TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC REMOVED AND REINSTALLED ALL 4 WHEELS. AFTERWARDS, HEARD AND FELT VIBRATION IN FRONT END. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO PEP BOYS. MECHANIC "REECO" SAID PROBLEM WAS STILL STRUTS, LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND LINKS. AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP, VIBRATION AND NOUISE BECAME SO BAD, COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 35 MPH, THEN FRONT END STARTED SHIFTING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. HAS VEHICLE TOWED TO A FULL SERVICE LICENSED REPAIR CENTER. OWNER INSPECTED VEHICLE, THEN SHOWED ME LOOSE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ON PASSENGER SIDE THAT HAD ONE BROKEN LUG AND 3 MORE READY TO BREAK. MECHANIC REPLACED ALL 4 WHEEL LUGS AND NUTS, RETURNING BROKEN PARTS TO ME AND STATED THAT LAST SERVICE CENTER FAILED TO PROPERLY TIGHTEN LUG NUTS ON WHEEL, CAUSING DANGEROUS FAILURE. MECHANIC ALSO INSPECTED FRONT END AND SHOWED THAT LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND SWAY BAR LINKS WERE NOT LOOSE ENOUGH TO REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. I AM FILING A FORMAL WRITTEN COMPLAINT WITH PEP BOYS CORPORATE OFFICE.

Customer service sucks. I had an appointment and when I checked in I was rudely told that it would be a minute because there were several cars ahead of me. I didnt recieved a hello, good morning or any polite greeting . When I inquired about a possible time frame the old grumpy clerk said "I said a minute" the other clerk tried to help and ensure me that he would get me in but it was too late. First impressions are everything and I refuse to pay for services when Im being treated like Im a bother. The man kept talking loud asking you to repeat yourself, he needs an attitude adjustment and an hearing aid.

Based on performance, Ive gone to 100% Hankook tires for all my cars including H418s for my three (Ford) pass cars and Ventus V4s for my S197 Mustang with blower kit - plus I have all my non-new car warranty work done here too, especially brakes. The Service Manager, Greg Gort, has worked miracles for me in the past, continues to do so today, and I rate "Mike" the mechanic as highly trust worthy, effective, and detail oriented. Yes, theyre busy most times with a wide range of customer types based on locale, but a little patience and courtesy on the customers part goes a long way here.

WORST SERVICE EVER ! first of all I went in telling them it might be my battery on my car they make me pay 150$ on that and say its all done I get in my car and my battery light still on THEN i wait a few mins and they say I have to pay for another part which is 500$ WHICH WAS A LIE BECAUSE I WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEY ONLY CHARGED ME 250$ FOR THE PART AND TO PUT IT ON WORST PLACE EVER I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN AND I ADVISE NO ONE TO GO HERE ! YOU WILL BE WAITING FOR HOURS AND GET LIED TO ABOUT THE PRICES !

Needed a new distributor for my 1994 Integra and they were the only place in town to have one in stock. I purchased a new cap and rotor at the same time and they sold me the wrong cap but exchanged it with no problems. When leaving the store the "re manufactured" distributor they sold me died while turning onto Gratiot. The total running time was under half an hour and now I have to wait 3 days for them to get another one in stock to try and repair my car. Hopefully the next one actually works.

Got a coupon for a cheap oil change at pep boys so I decided to try this place . Dont waste your time, the service is rude and slow. I had an appointment at seven and I got there a little early. the guy who works the front desk told me I was lucky I got there before 7 otherwise I would have to reschedule. Not to mention the oil change took over an hour. Worst service ever and A huge waste of time. Im never coming to pep boys again

Just like you dont go to Walmart for Chinese cuisine... you dont go to Pep Boys for tires. Their service and maintenance department is generally very good for basic maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations... tune ups on most cars. I have bought tires here in the past but recommend shopping a tire specialist first. All in all the have been great services two Cadillacs and my Ranger for the past 10 years or so!

Good selection of parts and products. Rewards program is a nice perk. When I had service done the price was competitive, service was quick, and its nice that if they need a part they can walk over and get it rather than a mechanic having to wait for it to arrive. Typical Pep Boys store - a little dark and dirty compared to the newer (but smaller) Advance Auto Parts locations.
