My first reaction is to rave about Jeph the owner and architect of this great environment & team but Im going to veer to talk about Amira (sp) who can flat iron beyond-curly-hair with great precision. My girls are going back to her soon for hair cuts and then flat iron treatment. She was also a great help putting my girls at ease and offering tips and no-pressure product suggestions. No matter the age of the client old (me) to my daughters (teens) its a comfortable and relaxed environment. I have known Jeph since his days as an assistant. Hes been awesome from day one. If you have a certain treatment or hair challenge, call or stop in and talk with Jeph. Hell let you know which of his team is best for you. If youve never been to this salon & sitting on the fence between Black or another salon, I say call Black. Cuz ya know the old saying....Once You Black You Dont Go Back. Yep, I went there.

I love love love this salon. It was my first time coming here and I had Stephanie. I actually showed up a little late to the appointment because I got out of work an hour later then when I was suppose to. She was very understanding and listened to everything I wanted and made my hair better than I even expected. During the appointment I told her I was sorry for being late and told her why, like an hour later a restaurant near by brought in food for the workers and Stephanie remembered I said I got out of work late, so she actual brought me over some food that she was offered since I did not have a chance to eat before I came. I thought that was VERY nice of her. This salon was very welcoming and I will be coming back to see Stephanie in two months :)

I had been looking for a new stylist for a few months when Black opened up down the street from where I live in Royal Oak. I saw Amy and have been going back to her ever since. She consistently gives me a great cut and I leave there feeling like a million bucks. In fact the last cut I got keeps getting even better as my hair is growing. I get tons of compliments on how my hair is cut. I would definetly recommend Amy. She is very nice and has a great sense of style. I also love this salon because the atmosphere is very chill, the music is great and they even offer you wine to drink while you get styled! Give it a try!

Great place, great vibe, excellent care and service. Ive got too much hair and just about any service takes forever. Savannah listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly the right color I had been seeking. She was patient, thorough, and meticulous with her technique. She also got assistance from her fellow stylists to assist with expediting some of the process steps. My hair looks and feels better than it has in years. Having recently moved to RO, I have tried several area salons, looking for a hair care home. I found it in Black Salon with Savannah! Job well done!

Everyone at the salon was so nice and welcoming, I felt right at home. My stylist Amira is AMAZING!!!. I was referred to her by a friend because I had my hair done at another salon and it got turned orange! Amira took her time to fix my hair (2 sessions) and it looks 100% better. I am SOOO happy!! It takes me almost an hour to get there, but it TOTALLY worth it :) I am already referring more of my friends to her too! I cant wait to go back!

My first time here today. I got a full colour and cut. It was awesome. Props to my hair dresser Stephanie!! She was great, friendly and made my hair look amazing. Was treated awesome here! Im from Canada and this is By far the BEST hair salon Ive been too. Definitely going to come back!! Head and neck massage was to die for!! Offered a cold beverage when I got there!! Amazing staff. Thank You for the great first experience. :)

Ive struggled for a year to find the perfect stylist and decided to try Black the Salon on a whim last weekend. Natasha is honestly the most badass, professional, amazing stylist Ive ever worked with. She really listened to what I wanted, educated me on how to recreate the look at home, and made my hair look absolutely awesome - all while being super relatable and hilarious. So impressed and excited to go back.

There was a time when I enjoyed the services at Black the Salon. That time, however, has passed. Due to what appears to be caused by a disrespectful, inconsiderate, and harsh owner, the team has recently lost many of their strongest stylists and staff members. If you are looking for a salon, Id suggest looking elsewhere. I cannot stand behind a business that doesnt support their front-line employees.

I used to go to Jeph when he worked at Six Salon. I have moved to Florida since, but had heard that he opened his own salon. When Jeph used to do my hair it always looked awesome....I got so many compliments. I had a short bob with highlights and low lights which were awesome!! Hes really a nice as well..Next time I go to MI I will go see Jeph at Black! -Jillian

Laura Kathleen is the best!! I was desperately searching for a good salon, and friends told me to check out Black. The place is hip and fun, the artists are all extremely talented, and most of all professional. Im awful with last minute, but I dont have to fear...even if my fave stylist is booked, all will make me look good!!!

The salon is in a great location and the interior is very stylish and clean. My stylist Erica was amazing. It was my first time there and she was very welcoming. I got a full color and cut and it turned out very well. They offer wine and give great scalp and neck massages. Would highly recommend!

My first experience after I saw a couple women at my gym who look amazing even after a workout...asked them and they recommended this place. Amy took the time to fully understtand what I wanted. Then performed her magic. It is far beyond what I had hoped, and everyone says I look amazing!

Happy to find out my favorite stylist is no longer at Black the Salon! Ive been going to her for years. I guess its a good thing for her because it seemed like the owner was always inappropriate to his employees borderline sexual harassment...but hey maybe thats just the culture there.

Second time getting my hair colored here by Meg after getting it cut by her a week prior. Love the atmosphere and friendly staff! And she does a great job!!
