Brought minivan in for coolant and tranny fluid change along with new plugs and wires. First, I had a competitor coupon they said they could match but didnt even come close to the same price. Was told that my van took a more expensive type of coolant. Okay, I get that, but shouldnt that have been known, or at least mentioned, before the service was done? Second, I havent had a single engine issue for the 5 years and almost 100k miles prior, but check engine light came on while driving out of state just 2 days after I got it back from JPT. Was told code was some throttle issue that wasnt related to their work so they just reset it and sent me on my way. Fair enough...probably just a coincidence. Was just going to let it go even though check engine light issue popped up every now and again. However, this winter I had no heat while idling. Once I got on the move it was fine, but even after 10 minutes in driveway or long wait at a stoplight, nothing but cold air! Turns out, I needed to add a half jug MORE of coolant and ironically, no more problems. JPT was right though, it was more expensive coolant then the normal green stuff! But after I didnt get the price match, youd think Id at least got it filled up!! Finally, because the check engine light issue was coming up more often, I decided to break down and bring it to the dealer. To be fair, one of the check engine light issues was due to a throttle body problem that GM has ackowledged. But...Im glad I went in. The GM tech told me (after confirming there was no shavings or other noticable transmission issues), "look at the color of this stuff...there is no way that tranny fluid was changed recently!" Hmmm...thinking back to the coolant being a 1/2 jug low too??? I wonder if either fluids were even changed? Had I thought of it sooner, I would have had the plugs and wires checked as well. I see many reviews that rave about JPT...its why I chose to go there in the first place. They seemed like a good group of guys, but I am not convinced. How do you short somebody so much on coolant when you already failed to honor a quote? And maybe the tranny fluid thing is just a dealer tech trying to take a cheap shot at a local mechanic...but the fluid did look pretty nasty for only 7,000 miles on it. I am going to have the plugs and wires looked at for a second opinion on whether they are actually the (once again everybody..."your vehicle takes the more expensive...") double platinum plugs and blah, blah, blah. I sure am left with the feeling that we all worry about when going to a local mechanic...did I get charged too much? Did they do what they said they would do? Did they really use the more expensive parts and materials they said my vehicle needed? Or just charge me for them and use the inferior stuff? I may never know for sure...but I DO know...that it is highly unlikely I will ever return to JPT for any kind of service again.

Just got my vehicle back from them yesterday. I figured I should finally give them a review. I have been taking my vehicles here for the past 10 years since my wife first recommended them to me. Her family has been taking their vehicles there for 15+ years. These guys keep doing exceptional work and are always straightforward. They only ever do work that needs to be done and never try to sell me on anything I dont need. I had my car in for a busted radiator and asked them to check the brakes on it while it was in. When I got the call from them they let me know that the brakes were fine and still had about 50% left on them. They could have told me that they were shot and would need to be replaced and I would not have known any better. They always take a look at the car and call you to let you know what needs to be done and give you a quote for the work. Oftentimes the final bill comes out below the quote which is always nice. Their lot is almost always full and can be hard to find a spot sometimes to park. Also calling them can yield some odd results. Sometimes you will get an endless busy signal. Other times a fax machine noise and sometimes it will ring forever. Just keep trying! Long story short we love this shop and highly recommend if you need work done on your vehicle!

I have been going to JPT for several years and have recommended them to numerous people I know. They are honest, reasonably priced and suggest what is only necessary to keep your car running. If they feel that something isnt worth fixing, they will be honest with you, rather than making you shell out money for repairs that wont do you any good. I dont know how or why "anonymous customer" had so many issues....perhaps it was a communication error on her end. I have never had work done that I didnt authorize nor without an estimate prior to my approval. I have even had the experience where something was not fixed quite right, and when I brought the car back they fixed the issue for free. They are human, they are entitled to make the occasional error. At least they are honest in their dealings unlike franchises and dealerships in my experience. They are always willing to work with you and dont BS you. If you want reliable honest people, this is your best bet.

If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. Curt and Pat are the most honest, talented, and helpful service guys you will ever meet. Ive been using them for 20+ years and they are affordable and also have saved me thousands on repairs some other place said I needed that I did not need. Dozens and dozens of times my wife, myself , or a friend has taken their car in only to hear, "You do not need a radiator, its just a leaky hose." Or, "You do not need hydraulic shocks, your vehicle does not have them and the shocks you have are fine." Or, "you breaks still have 15,000 miles left on them, you do not need new ones." Or, the manual says change the timing belt at 90K, but in your model we have never had problem going to 105k." These guys are also very good at diagnosis. I trust them implicitly because theyve earned it.

I scheduled an oil change at my nearby Firestone. They inform me I have an oil leak and that its coming from the head gasket so the repairs will be upwards of $2,000. Like all advice, I seek a second opinion. So I ask around and somebody tells me about JPT. I schedule an appointment with them, bring my car in, and the very next day I receive a call from them. They inform me it was a bad nut on the oil pan and the head gasket is fine. Dropped the so called repairs down 99%. I no longer service my vehicles anywhere else. JPT has never tried to scam me and has always been truthful with me. I always tell friends and family about them because they are trustful mechanics who do things right!
