My first visit with Midas was back in Feb when the fuel pump went out of my car. As my car wouldnt start I didnt really have any other options besides Midas. They charged me $1,000 for a job that should have been around $400, but as I needed my car and it wouldnt start so I could drive it somewhere else, I paid for it. Now 7 months later I am having similar problems with my car and I called to ask if they thought the fuel pump was going out again. They asked me to bring it in, so I drove there to have them look at it. They turned it on and off a few times and came in and told me it wasnt the fuel pump and if the car wasnt acting up right then they couldnt tell what it was. It was only after I left and after talking with my dad that they admitted that they should have done a fuel pressure check. After my dad asked why they didnt do it, they said they should have and I could bring it back in the following Monday. They actually had the nerve to say that they didnt do it, because I didnt ask. Excuse me, but who is the mechanic. I shouldnt have to tell you how to do your job. That is why I bring my car to a mechanic, because I dont know how to do it myself. They are shady; they overcharge, and have HORRIBLE customer service skills. I cant believe this place is still running. I will NEVER return to a Midas again and will tell everyone I know to steer clear.

I went to Midas on Excelsior Boulevard and the owner greeted me with cordiality, appearing humble and ready to help. My tires were rotated as part of the oil change package and I have received a lot of advice about how to maintain the car in good shape. Moreover, as a courtesy the service representative has put back my hanging plastic undermount shield, whereas some other service center recommended to just rip it off while the dealership offered to change it at an astronomical price. It was a 30 seconds job done at no cost, just as goodwill and it looks like new. This is what makes for a loyal and happy customer. This team has gone over the edge today and I cant say enough how happy I am with the service. I have also enjoyed being allowed to watch how my car is serviced and also being able to ask questions and receive specialized feedback. The team is very specific about safety and this is highly appreciated. While waiting you get free internet and a free beverage, hot or cold. What else could you ask more for a $20+ dollar oil change with free inspection and tire rotation?! Now Id hope Id be able to maintain this rating over time. Will adjust based on the future experience. Thank you!

If you’re a female considering whether or not to bring your car to a Midas location in the Twin Cities, this review is for you. I’m a female in my twenties, and I took my car to the Midas Excelsior location (4200 Excelsior BLVD) for an oil change. They did a courtesy check and said that my wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I ended up getting the bearing fixed at the location. When I took my car to another mechanic, he said that the bearing was sealed and didn’t need to be packed. Midas charged me $40 to have the bearing packed, which they shouldn’t have done, period. Midas lauds itself for its trust, but I find it hard to trust a company whose employee charged me for a sealed bearing and also included a charge for it to be repacked. I don’t know much about cars, so if I hadn’t talked to a different mechanic, then I wouldn’t have known what this Midas location had done. This makes me wonder how frequently this happens to unsuspecting patrons. I was able to get it refunded, but I’ve completely lost trust in Midas. I will never take my car to one of these locations ever again.

If you value your car, do not go here. You will come out with more problems than what you went in with. I went the other day for a simple oil change and rotation. 45 minutes later, the customer service rep comes out and tells me my coolant system has a leak. Ive never noticed any leaks, and I check all of my fluids weekly so this surprised me. He asked me how many times my car had overheated and I replied none, to which he responded "hm." and told me they would charge a simple $30 diagnostic fee. I declined, because from what I knew of my car there were no leaks and no issues. My car practically purred. On my way home from work later that night, my car overheated! The engine temperature had never risen past the 50% mark, so I was shocked. After it sputtered and died, I pulled over and examined my engine. My coolant levels were completely drained. No wonder it overheated! I went to a mechanic and he told me one of my tubes had been cut. Safe to say I will never set foot in this place again, and I highly advise anyone else to do the same.

I have been to this Midas a couple of times so I feel as if I have given them the benefit of the doubt. The first time I was there was for an oil change. The tech did not correctly reassmble the protective plate on the bottom of my car. The result was it dragging along the interstate and me having to stop at a gas station along the way so that someone else could reattach it properly. My second experiance at Midas I went in for a squeaky break and they said it was just they way it was and everything was fine. I took my car to a diffent shop and they diagnosed the problem and fixed it for about $50. At this same visit they told me I needed an additional $1200 in repairs. I got a second estimate and the work was completed for about $600. Part of the difference was because they incorrectly diagnosed an issue. The third time I went there was for another oil change and this time they changed a "dim" not burt out light bulb without asking and chared me for it. DO NOT GO HERE!

Great experience the last couple times at this Midas. Car wouldnt start and went in to get it fixed. They had availability right away to fix my car and did a good job. When I left I noticed that there was a smell of gas in the car. I waited two days to bring it back in and get it looked at to make sure there wasnt any sprays they used that needed to burn off. When I went back in I was worried I would have to pay tons more and would have to wrestle with management about whether the gas smell was linked to the work they did on the car. Fortunately, the shop was very understanding that I spent a lot of money getting the car fixed at their shop. Although after looking at the car they were confident the gas fumes escaping were not due to their work, they still gave me a great deal on the work that was done. Understanding the value of customer loyalty and the value of a repeat customer is something I look for in management. I will go back to this Midas when Im in the area.
