Originally Centraire installed a high efficiency tankless h2o heater for me that had constant problems, and ultimately failed in under 5 years. The manufacturer is no longer in business either. When it failed, Centraire was called back to remove the old one and install a standard h2o tank via Energy Assistance. The first week of June installation of the standard tank began, it took from 8-6 that day and I thought it was going to be remedied and work great! However, after installation, it kept going out and worst of all my roof leaked from the stack every time it rained! I believe thats what makes it go out? I called Centraire and they had the original tech come out within a few days to fix the leak. Unfortuneately his attempt didnt fix it! So I called again and within 2 weeks they sent a new tech out. He was rough looking! He didnt have a polite disposition from the get-go. To make it worse he didnt speak english well either (russian maybe like 1st tech) but that was fine...I am willing to work it out. I began asking questions as I wanted to know what he was going to do to remedy the problem or what he thought it was and after about 5 questions asked and getting "I dont know" for every one of them, I asked how do you not know and he responded "Ive never done this". At that point, I told him I prefer someone experienced or at least someone who could answer my questions. I told him he could leave and I would call Centrair. He refused to leave!! Three times I had to ask him to leave and he got louder and louder refusing to leave because "you not my boss". I was home alone and terrified by this gruffy, rough accent speaking tech. What happened next...the president called me back later that day and defended the tech stating "he wouldnt of said that hes done many" and continued to praise his poorly mannered technician. I was disgusted! However, the problem needed to be fixed and I rescheduled a new day and time which was always 8 AM because of my location. I waited around all day and they never showed! I called and left 2 voicemails with my contact/president since and I have never got a call back! Life goes on and summer gets busy. At least I have hot water and I can wipe the leaks up. However, I lost all faith in them and became so stressed out by this company that I gave up. They later had the nerve to say they tried to show up and I blew them off. Also, a month in to all of this I get a letter stating "to call the city to approve the permit". I did and within 3 days the city inspector came out and DID NOT approve the permit. He stated they needed to "fix leak and fix stack up to code". I am so done ranting. It so stresses me out. I just wanted to share so this doesnt happen to you...just know that to this day 2 months later my leaky ceiling has not been fixed...

DO NOT choose these heating and air conditioning guys. There are so many options in the Twin Cities, after being ripped off by these guys I had to come here and share my story. About 15 months ago, I had Centraire install a brand new tankless water heater for my home. I have a small house, with water taps only on the first floor, so they told me the unit would be perfect. After they installed the unit, I had to get them to come out to my house TWICE to adjust the WATER TEMPERATURE, because it wasnt heating correctly, or it was getting too hot and shutting down the boiler. Finally, they got it to a workable stage, where I could get hot water out of the tap to wash my hands. I was satisfied, and they were paid and satisfied. Fast-forward 15 months. Now the water heater is broken. Every time I use the tap, the safety release valve dumps about 1.5 gallons of water onto the floor of my basement. I am at my wits end cleaning up water so I call Centraire. The technician comes to my house, takes about 20 minutes to replace the valve, tells me the VALVE FAILED BECAUSE SOMEONE DIDNT SET THE WATER TEMPERATURE CORRECTLY. *cough* I think it was you guys. The technician then told me that there only a 1 year warranty so then charged me $200 to replace a part that only broke because they screwed up in the first place. When I called John, the salesman, to ask why they didnt stand by their workmanship in an instance where they had obviously screwed up, he laughed at me and ridiculed me in an extremely rude fashion. So, long story short, if even one person reads this, then I can feel like I did a bit of good for the day. If you are looking for air conditioning or heating installation or repair, look elsewhere! Good luck in your searches! :) TL;DR: They screwed up installing my tankless heater, it broke because of their screw-up, they charged me $200 to fix their own mistake, and then they insulted me when I suggested that they waive the repair fee because of their mistake. DONT USE.

Their customer service is awful. I called on a very cold night when my furnace broke down. I have a warranty on the furnace and asked them to do their part for me to get reimbursed. In a bad manner they told me (many times) they needed me to pay and its my problem to deal with the other company. Despite paying the premium for a rush service over the weekend, they came the following morning (which I agreed to when they called me later in the night to tell me they wouldnt make it). The technician was well intended and even called this warranty company. I had the Nest thermostat installed. He said he knew nothing about it (?) and, as a temporary fix, he replaced it with the old one. The furnace started working. I told him that I installed the Nest myself and had been working perfectly for over 6 months. He said I would get a call from the office to get it fixed and re-installed. That never happened. I received their invoice with an incorrect statement (it said that the Nest needed a power line that I had not installed, which cant be true because it had worked for over half a year. Remember that the technician admitted he knew nothing about this brand). This made it impossible for me to get paid by the warranty provider. I sent them an e-mail asking them to revise their diagnosis. They never responded. After a while, I received an e-mail from them asking for my payment. I responded explaining my bad experience with them. No response. About 10 days later, they contacted me again. I asked if they had received my previous e-mail. They said they did but they only cared for me paying, as I had received a service. I will never call them again and I hope you follow suit, unless you want a bad experience.

So last summer, my air conditioner went out. We were new to the area and found a sticker for Centraire on our unit. They came out and after quite some time the problem had not been resolved. Not only that, but the technician told me that he thought the refrigerant he added to my air conditioner was installed improperly at the factory with another liquid. As you can imagine, I cancelled my scheduled visit with him. I had lost faith in the company. I had my HVAC guys who were remodeling my kitchen look at the unit. They looked it over and said that it could possibly have irreversible damage because the wrong fluid was installed. I got a hefty bill from Centraire and was still out of an AC. I called the company and explained to them what happened and they dropped the bill. I couldnt believe that kind of customer service. I told the owner that in the end, I was still out of an AC. He asked me to call when the weather was warm and he would come out personally to look at it, which he did. He then told me the compressor needed to be replaced and he would send a technician out at no charge. He said he couldnt prove what went wrong, and so he would take care of it. I was amazed at that kind of service and will definitely call them back and tell everyone about them. This is a company who is honest, reliable, and to be trusted. Thank you Centraire for restoring my faith in home services.
