We bought a restored old home and almost immediately begin getting sewage backflow into our basement. We brought a local plumber in to clean the sewer line and learned that holes in the line prevented his cleaning tools from getting through and he suggested we would need to repair the line. After weeks of calling plumbers and getting quotes, we finally settled on Roto-Rooter for the job. These guys always answer the phone, scheduled a visit right away, showed up on time, and provided an immediate quote. They gave us thorough information about the problem and multiple solution options. They sent a guy who knew about lots of options and how to solve hard problems. Compared to all the other plumbers we worked with, they were by far the fastest and most professional. I cant believe how many plumbing contractors take forever to return calls and provide quotes, or dont have equipment / knowledge to replace a sewer line thats not optimally accessible. Our sewer line damage was hard to reach, right under a large front porch, very close to the basement. Two contractors basically had no options for us. One offered to dig a hole in the yard and repair the damage without ever doing a camera inspection, even though the pipe was clearly under our giant porch and the whole stretch of it was clogged and falling apart. Another service offered to run an entirely new line parallel to the existing line, at more than twice the cost of the re-lining Roto-Rooter did. Most of the people that came out to do the quote had to call back to someone else because this wasnt as easy as they thought it would be or something. Another great part of our experience was that, despite a number of hurdles during the actual work, the team out here persevered, got the job done, and didnt alter our quote. Turns out our basement floor is over a foot thick of concrete, taking hours to jackhammer through and dig down to the sewer line. Then, the old cast iron was thin and brittle, shattering when they tried to use their pipe cutter on it and requiring them to buzz saw through it. They also worked around our existing drain tile and sump pump and installed a new clean out pipe to avoid damaging the drain tile near the old decrepit clean out. After this encounter, I dont know why we would go with anyone else for this kind of work. Great job.

This experience exceeded my expectations. We had a clogged basement drain with water collecting on the basement floor. After contacting our local plumber and learning they couldnt be out for a week I considered my options, Building an Ark was off the table so I called Roto-Rooter. I grew up hearing the Jingle but never used the service. There is a reason theyve been around so long. The service was GREAT! From my initial phone call till they backed down the driveway, every member of the team exceeded my expectations. I was told by a very polite and articulate phone representative that they could get someone out between 12 and 4. Thats a big window but they let me know they would call thirty minutes before the tech arrived. They did and the van pulled up at EXACTLY thirty minutes from the heads up call. Our Tech was Robbie, Im pretty sure this kid is the poster boy for Roto Rooter. If he isnt he should be. He was polite articulate and thorough. I expected a "plumber" I got a technician. Robbie took the time to ask questions, look at our entire plumbing system ruling out any other possibility. After the analysis he explained that it was probably the floor drain and quoted the fee. Id never had a service like this done before, it was more expensive than I thought but after doing some research I learned it is a fair price. I now know that the VALUE matched the PRICE. I signed on the dotted line, and Robbie unloaded his tools. It went exactly as Robbie quoted and when he was done he explained how and why drains clog. I showed him the chemical drain cleaner I was using and he politely told me that they are effective but can be bad for pipes if used a lot. He recommended an enzyme pipe treatment that is more effective and better for the pipes. Then he sold me a bottle. I am not one to buy add ons but the way Robbie explained it, and the extremely fair price, along with Robbies explanation of use, made it a no brainer. Again it came down to VALUE. Bottom line, Roto-Rooter is a great service. If you are lucky, Robbie will be your tech.

Thoughtful analysis and explanation of the problem, polite, neat, reasonable. We had our sewer line back up and discovered it on Sunday evening March 12 around 9:30 pm (of course). Rotor rooter had already been out the previous Sunday and had cleared our line. They sent their service man out again (no additional charge) and Jordan #7014 was at our house by 10 pm. After inspecting our problem, he opened a different access point and cleared the line. He was extremely neat, pleasant, answered all our questions and explained that he thought the problem might be in the pipe under our basement floor. He was done in 30 minutes. We already had Roto Rooter scheduled to come Monday morning (March 13), to analyze and repair the larger problem. On Monday, March 13, the Rotor Rooter excavation team of 3 service men arrived, headed by Matt Ptacek #2958. They independently camerad our line and after 20-30 minutes of analyzing the line, concluded that we did NOT need the estimated $7500 excavation and repair. Instead he advised cleaning all the scale that had formed in our sewer line (50 years old) using 6" auger blades. Matt was persistent and able to accomplish this. Then they "jetted" our line with a diesel powered high pressure water flush. A final camera inspection was done showing a much smoother and very open sewer line Total cost was $539. This was for 3 men spending almost 4 hours at our home! The entire experience was made outstanding by the thoughtful, polite, personable, and thorough descriptions and explanations provided by Matt and his team. Despite having to bring down several large pieces of equipment, hoses, etc. they were very neat and pleasant. I would highly recommend Rotor Rooter for this type of work. They have the equipment and the personnel to get the job done right! I dont work for Roto Rooter and am not associated in any way with their company. In fact I prefer to have as little need for their services as possible.

While visiting our daughters home in Mpls, we noticed a drip coming through the basement ceiling directly beneath the main floor bathroom toilet. Since we were only visiting for a few hours, time for repair of the problem was of the essence. We called Roto-Rooter, and they sent out a plumber within an hour! He evaluated the situation, and found not only a leaking seal beneath the toilet, but several hair-line cracks in the tank. He offered to repair the seal, but we elected to replace the toilet instead. He discussed our options, and we chose to upgrade to a "comfort height" premium toilet. He gave us a firm price for the cost of parts and labor, and although it was significantly higher than the top of the price range for toilet replacement in this zipcode, we were short on time and gave the go-ahead. He didnt have the new toilet on his truck, so cheerfully offered to go to the warehouse to retrieve one. He returned in about an hour, and proceeded with the installation. He carefully removed the water from the old unit, moved it outside, then cleaned the floor, and inspected the toilet flange for damage (there was none, luckily). He installed the new unit, hooked it up, caulked around the base, and successfully tested the flush several times. He even caulked around our sink, which had never been done since its installation! His work was clean and efficient, and he was pleasant, polite, thorough, and informative. We are very pleased with the new toilet, and with being able to have the process done in such a timely manner! Although it was expensive, the whole experience exceeded our expectations - in this case you do get what you pay for!
