After being in a car accident while 9 months pregnant, I was advised by my doctor to start regular massage therapy. Since money is pretty tight, I thought massage envy would be the ideal choice. My fiance and I signed up for the membership and it was to be deducted from my account (since he lost his job and I was going back to work from maternity leave) About 3 months after I signed up, I lost my job as well. Now with a new baby and neither of us working, I had to cut back on luxurys. Ive been calling for the past 2 weeks, leaving my name, number etc..and Lisa Halverson (manager) has never returned my call. Finally, after calling 4 times today, the receptionist put me through. I said, "Yes, Ive been trying to get a hold of you"...Lisa said, "Yeah, I saw the 60 post it notes on my desk". She initially refused to terminate our memberships because as she put it, "Everyones losing their jobs now" and when I added that I just had a baby as well, she had the audacity to say, "Which is it-did you lose your job or have a baby"? I said both and I would like to speak to the owner. She refused to give me the owners name or number. Finally, she said that both memberships would be cancelled but Ive never been so insulted in my life. Funny thing is, I used to manage a spa! Ms. Halverson shouldnt be in charge of running a spa. The lack of professionalism, lack of customer service and overall rudeness left me speechless. (but I can always write about it.) The therapists were okay. The receptionists were helpful. Nothing outstanding, just okay...However, the manager might want to consider some customer service courses before she goes back to work tomorrow.

Horrible and deceptive. I had a terrible experience of an unprofessional therapist that was compounded by a snide manager when I raised the issue. I vowed to never return. So imagine my displeasure when the wife presented me 9 months later with a gift card for our anniversary not knowing I would never patronize them again. As I am a hard person to buy a gift for, she had been told in store (I know the website says different but thats not where she bought it) that it would be refunded if I did not want it. Totally not the case. Their only response is to claim I have never been there and could not have had a bad experience, and that if I dont want it, I should give a $120 certificate to someone else. BUYER BEWARE with regard to their certificates, quality of massage, and dont expect much in terms of professional interaction with management. Corporate office totally ignores polite emails sent to them. Stay away. Others below, share your experience with the BBB. I did, but was told I was unique. The reviews below say otherwise. Throwing the certificate in the trash as I refuse to visit or expose a friend to their incompetence.

i scheduled both a massage and a facial via phone for my birthday. The young man on the phone confirmed both. When I got there, after the facial, they claimed I had no appointment for a massage, implying that I was mistaken - not them. They really didnt care, wouldnt do anything and asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. I came there for a facial and massage specifically to celebrate my birthday and they messed it up - and then acted like, oh well too bad...must have been my fault. And I know the same young man that scheduled the massage and facial was the one asking for the tip and never admitted that he had messed up my appointment. I wont be back. The facial was fine but the stress of not getting the massage I was so looking forward to ruined it all. The guy made a snotty comment to me as I left, because I was not happy and he knew it. That is completely -- completely -- unacceptable customer service. Nobody there cared a hoot that they had messed up and again, they implied that I simply didnt know that I hadnt scheduled a massage.

Don’t get fooled . . . Our son bought us each a 1 hour massage for our 30th wedding anniversary. He was told massage envy was “running a special” and he was given a free ½ hour massage certificate, what a deal! After our massage we walked out together feeling refreshed (the therapists did a wonderful job) only to get bombarded by the staff asking how much were we going to tip, and were we ready to sign up for a yearly package. Don’t get fooled . . . so a week later our daughter tried using the ½ hour certificate - they not only don’t take ½ hour appointments, but they wouldn’t take the certificate and apply it towards the 1 hour message minimum. After several minutes talking to the manager on the phone, she fessed up that the offer was confusing and “corporate” was going to be changing the wording. She not only wouldn’t budge on the ½ hour “certificate”, but then continued to mock and laugh at my husband. She was down-right nasty! Facing the staff is not worth the stress, (sorry therapists) stay away from Massage Envy in Eden Prairie!

VERY VERY DECEPTIVE. Small print says you cannot and I mean CANNOT cancel this membership until 12 months is up. Also, you can only share these massages with someone every 6 months...cannot be the same person and on top of that they charge you a $10 service fee to share your already paid for massage. As stated below..the massages are just OK. Not great. I have had many different therapists and I wouldnt say any one of them has been great. The facials are pretty good other than the fact that she tries to get you to buy all the Murad stuff she uses on you which is very pricey. All in all I would say Buyer Beware. They are hard sells at the end and they try and not let you walk out without signing up. I am finally done with my membership and just made my last payment..I could not be happier!!!!!!!!

You have to remember that this is a low-cost option. Some of the massage therapists are better than others. If you are looking for a one-time massage you are probably better off paying the extra money and going somewhere else. They will try to get you to sign up for a membership. However, if you do want a membership it is very affordable and once you find out who the good massage therapists are you can request them and then you have a very good value massage. I have been a member for a couple years and yes occassionally your massage may be 45 instead of 50 mins but for $40 a piece that is approx. half the price of many other outfits. Everyone has always been very curteous to me but it is more of a casual atmosphere - it is not a high class spa so just keep that in mind.

I have been a member for a couple of years now and like the service received until I came to the EP location because I couldnt get in any where else. It was clear right away the person had no idea what they where doing. The worst part is I woke up the next morning with a terrible pain in my neck. So bad in fact I had to go to the doctor and get an MRI. The person had herniated a disc in my neck. After mounting medical bills and over 6 months of no return phone calls from the EP location I am now going to pursue legal action. I will never go back. What promise do you have that the person has been properly trained? It is not worth your health and many thousands of $ in medical bills. Shame on EP ME for not doing the right thing!
