I would not recommend College Hunks to family or friends. I was originally very impressed with the quote - everything was thoroughly explained, detailed yet concise --- to the point that we went with College Hunks, even though they were not the cheapest. The day before the move we had two Hunks come to stage my townhouse. They were great - quick, efficient and worked really well together. They were both nice guys and knew what they were doing. D-Day. When it all fell apart. First and foremost --- we were supposed to get THREE Hunks. We ended up with two. Why? Because a JUNK job superseded our move. The one Hunk , who was also there the first day, was great. He was easy to get along with, great at explaining things and worked efficiently. His co-worker, however, was not. I am not sure if he was new, but he required quite a bit of guidance and supervision. If the first Hunk would stop to explain or talk, the other one would as well. We did have damage to a wall when a metal bed frame was dropped on a corner... BUT... They did make a "deal" with us and after all --- it is moving, things will happen. The clincher! We were quoted a price to move ALL of our stuff. The evening kept going on and on.... When we were finally told that they would NOT be able to bring all the stuff over. In fact, they would only do one more trip, leaving all clothes and anything smaller than a couch for my boyfriend to move. I was told a third Hunk would come to assist that evening -- who did for about 20 minutes. At 7:30P, they called time, stopped what they were doing to pack up and leave. None of our furniture was put back together, half of it wasnt where it should be and a good chunk of it was left at the other house. With all things considered... We were still charged the full price that we were quoted --- even though we were a Hunk down and a good chunk of our belongings didnt get moved. While I was impressed with the quote and the first day of work... The service, or lack there of, the day of the actual move left a LOT to be desired.

We hired the college hunks to unload our pod into our new home. There were things I appreciated from the get-go; my initial phone call and talk with the estimator were impressive. They were very kind and enjoyable To talk with! The day of the move, the hunks were very polite, seemed to know what they were doing, and they made an effort to be very careful to not break or scratch furniture. During the move, I had a toe injury and one of the hunks was an EMT and took a look at it for me. The reason I give them 3 stars is because they didnt have the "pep" I expected from their marketing. I have seen movers almost running back and forth, these guys walked normally with no urgency. one of the guys even complained time and time again how exhausted he was from the previous days move. He talked about how sore his legs were, etc. so we offered him lots of water. I wanted to say, "Im sorry, but were paying you the same amount so get going!" I also made it clear ahead of time that I had a piano that needed to be moved, and I explained the size, and where it was going. They didnt come prepared with what they needed so they couldnt move it. They said they would be back out to move it early the following week but I never heard back. On top of that, my box of wedding China was completely shattered into pieces, and was clearly dropped. No other box was broken at all, so I was surprised that they didnt let me know that something may have broken. I understand mistakes happen, but I was heartbroken when I opened that box and would have felt better if they had fessed up and gave me a heads up. I know it didnt happen on the front end of the move because we touched every box that went in and would have definitely heard the rattling of china. It was smashed. For being the most expensive movers per hour, I would say I got an average service And might try another company in the future.

tldr; College Hunks is certainly efficient and quick, but if you do plan on using College Hunks, do not count on plain dealing and transparency, because they will most likely try to charge you over 200% of the original quoted price. It turns out this price IS negotiable, so be prepared to haggle your way closer to your original quote. I used College Hunks for furniture removal in Minnesota. When I scheduled the pickup two weeks prior, the price quoted was reasonable, with the caveat that there may be some difference between the online quoted price and what is quoted in person. To me, that meant that most likely when the "Hunk" arrives I can expect somewhere between a 20% increase from the online quote. Two weeks later (the day before the pickup) I receive a call to remind me of the furniture removal. The person on the phone offered me a new estimate, which was a 65% increase from the online price. On the day of furniture removal, the guy shows up at my house and gives me another estimate that is MORE THAN DOUBLE the original quote I was given when I scheduled the furniture removal. After some negotiating, I was able to bring the price down closer to the acceptable range, but at the end of the day I still have one piece of furniture that needs removed and a soured experience with this service. Needless to say, I will not use these guys again.

I recently needed a few items removed from my home and found this company via a Google search. I selected them because they could offer same day pick up and the price was very competitive. The site was easy to use and simple to schedule an appointment. I was contacted 20 minutes prior to pick up, as promised by the site. Brad, Kyle, and Nate greeted us, explained a bit of background for the company, and proceeded to provide a quote. I was a bit surprised that my quote was almost double what I had been quoted online. I understand that the online quote is an estimate, but I had listed out everything that needed to be removed so I would not have thought that the price would have been that different. Since the guys had already arrived and I had all of the items prepared in the garage, I did decide to have them haul the items away. All 3 were quick in moving everything, respectful of my property, and very courteous. If my rating was based just on my interaction with them - it would be a 5. The 4 star is because of the large difference in online quote vs the actual in person quote. I would recommend using College Hunks Hauling Junk again - but I would suggest calling for a quote instead of doing the online one.

I hired College Hunks for a move last month and was very disappointed in their product. I will say the Hunks were polite, on time, and generally careful with my property. However, both movers were brand new and moved items at a very slow pace. It was very clear they were newer hires, which they confirmed, and as a result I felt I overpaid a significant amount - basically comes down to the luck of the draw on which movers youre assigned as they bill hourly. I am still not sure why they would pair two brand new hires on a move together. I reached out to the company and eventually was able to communicate with the franchise owner. They didnt end up working with me on price. I wouldnt recommend them to friends or hire them again.
