Dont even consider using this company out of Miami. They showed up on time, they got all of the stuff on the truck even though it was more than we had originally estimated, they even held our stuff until we found a place to rent. The unloaders out here in Colorado were nice and fast, though a bit late. What happened between the pickup and drop off is a pathetic and sad story. They said they would take our stuff back to Miami to load it onto a bigger truck. The people who work there either cant read, dont care, or are complete idiots. Possibly all three. I had boxes marked in giant black permanent marker, "DO NOT PUT ON BOTTOM, FRAGILE" on multiple sides of the box. Not only were these boxes put in a stack sideways, crushing them, they were put on the BOTTOM of a pile of a few piles of books. 90% of my boxes and crates were seriously damaged or nearly destroyed. Quite a few items seemed impossibly damaged and the entire side of a thick hard plastic crate was completely missing while the rest of it was seriously cracked and broken. This is the most incompetent move Ive ever seen. I would chalk some of the damage up to my bad packing if it werent for the fact they actually put about half of my boxes on the truck sideways causing them to instantly crush. Almost every single box on the truck was torn and beaten like someone deliberately hit it with a bat and jumped on it. My mountain bike is now in need of repair because the damage was so severe I might as well scrap it and buy a new one. The chain was pulled from the gears, the shifter was seriously damaged, it has cm thick gouges out of about 20% of the paint right into the metal. These are all nearly impossible amounts of damage. To do that much damage to a bike would take an amazingly stupid packing job. There were also gouges out of the seat and even the handlebars. The entire bike was even wrapped. I was completely floored after I saw my stuff being pulled off the truck. Almost like the rig had overturned on the highway and my stuff was now wreckage. Fortunately most of my glassware and stuff made it unscathed but the damage that was caused was absolutely insane. As far as cost they werent much different than other movers in final price but for the quality of the move it was a huge ripoff. Our first move from Ohio to Florida there was zero damage to anything with a different moving company, who was a scam. I would say dont go with these guys unless you buy super heavy duty boxes or want all of your stuff damaged. Amazingly all of the furniture made it undamaged, but the boxes and crates went through hell.

BEWARE! UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Be prepared to pay AT LEAST $500 - $800 more on the day of pick-up and/or drop off. Their quoted "flat rate" is NOT the rate you will pay. You will pay much, much more. They will add hidden charges on the day of the pick-up or drop-off and at that point you have to pay because they will not release any of your belongings to you. Again, do not believe that their quoted "flat rate" is the final price you will pay. You will have to pay more on your pick-up or deliver day....so have plenty of extra cash ready! The reason the reviews are high is because they screen their follow-up/survey email. If you click "you would recommend them" then you get to write a review. If you choose "you wouldnt recommend them" then you dont get to write a review. Moving is stressful enough. Avoid the added stress and headaches of your move and choose a more RESPECTABLE and HONEST company.

We met with Jorge the representative from Flat Rate Movers, who was on time, professiona,l friendly, charming and made the entire experience an easy one. Between the time that we signed the papers and the actual move out date, I have to call him a few times to change a few things and he could not have made it easier for me. The four gentleman who arrive to do the packing and moving were courteous, respectful, friendly and professional as well. They arrived exactly on time, answered all my questions and did whatever they needed to do to ensure the move went smoothly. I was very happy but not very surprised because we use the company for years ago to move us from Manhattan to Florida and had an exceptional experience. Thats why I chose to use them again. I could not recommend them more highly.

The movers were personable and nice. However, they were extremely careless with our boxes on a local move (less than 1 mile). In the short drive our boxes arrived at our new apartment completely dented and damaged. I wrapped and carefully packed items but this was not enough to withstand the carelessness of the movers... The move resulted in broken plates, a broken printer, dented laundry baskets & trash cans. A foreman will be in charge of the movers. However, I would recommend working or at least overseeing the movers yourself to see how they transport, load and unload your boxes. Also, they will want you to sign a waiver absolving the company of all responsibility and damage to your items. Do not feel pressured to sign this portion of the contract.

Just moved last week into new condo in Miami Beach. Be careful about using Flat Rate....They charge a premium, did a rushed job (told me they had 3 scheduled that day), didnt take precautions to wrap and pack properly, broke my expensive new mirrored console, laughed about it and said dont worry management would reimburse me. Their sales department never even offered me additional insurance protection before the move. Management decided to only give me $75 towards the purchase of a new one (It cost $1,500). If you have nice furniture then I would not suggest risking using a company like this who does not take care of their property or customers.

To say that FlatRate Miami is one of the worst moving companies in the US is an understatement and I have used many. I was actually surprised that they were so bad having used their LA branch before which was a much better experience. My belongings were not only damaged when they arrived but they were delayed by over 2 weeks over their promised time which caused thousands of dollars in lodging and other accommodation expenses. To add more insult to injury; they thought a couple of hundred dollars would reimburse me for the trouble... Save yourself the stress and more importantly your valuable time; spend your money and time elsewhere!

We used Flat Rate for a small move we had to do of office furniture. I was soooo impressed. In Miami, it is so hard to get a company that is not going to rip you off and I was waiting and waiting for it, but these guys were true professionals. There was problems getting the truck in and they were so determine and told me no problem. I was waiting for them to charge me for the tape or saran wrap or cardboard they used and nothing. We gave them a huge tip because they truly went above and beyond and genuinely cared that we were happy with their service. Sooo refreshing. I recommend them to everyone!!!
