No one told me when i joined that this is actually a community center. I thought I was joining an exclusive high end PRIVATE health club for members only, but this facility not only offers discount memberships to city residents, but also daily passes and even low income family vouchers. If thats the way they want to run their club, fine, but they should advise members. Its overcrowded, parking, lockers, showers, classes, floor machines, pool deck chairs- plan to wait if you go during peak hours. Prospective members should really be advised that pool availability is extremely limited due to not only their own swim team use, this pool is rented out year round to the local school swim teams and synchronized swim teams. Its literally mobbed with kids and parents afterschool, early evening and weekends, the locker rooms are jammed with unsupervised children,, lines for showers, and the hot tubs are "kiddie pools" after practice is done despite this being clearly posted as against the rules. Lifeguards pretty much ignore many safety rules in favor of chatting amongst themselves, I have brought this to management attention to no avail. The facilities are nice, but get dirty faster than they are cleaned with all the crowds. During peak hours and even some off peak, fitness classes are overcrowded, yoga is practically in need of a "take a number" before class system. Locker rooms are dirty and overcrowded. And the monster dust bunnies in the corners of the workout floors never go away, ever. Ew. No way would i recommend this club to anyone, unless of course they like working out in an overcrowded messy, noisy and at times unsafe environment. Im not impressed with staff, they are either only interested in what they can sell you or you are invisible to them. Just ugh. The dude that signed us up would be better suited to used car sales, way too much pressure, actually told me that if I didnt sign up that day "I see you doing nothing" as if he was convinced Id just blow fitness off and never set foot in another health club. He almost convinced me to go somewhere else, and now im not so sure I shouldnt have. With all their public subsidizing from swim teams and the city, this clubs rates should be lower than the average gold club membership for non resident members, but its not. We get to pay full price to support a community center for a huge and massively, rapidly growing city. If you are reading reviews for helpful info, I;ve noticed some of the best ones seem to be written by people who have just joined, Ive been a member for 6 months. It took me a few weeks to start seeing all this, and it was just this week I found out about the city/club partnership.

My favorite Lifetime by far. Its bigger than Onyx, nicer than Coon Rapids&downtown, doesnt have that hamster cage vibe like St. Louis Park and is open 24/7. Plymouth LTF is very clean, the staff&guests are friendly and theres a very inviting atmosphere every time I walk in. Even if the front desk staff is occupied on the phone or with another guest, they smile and/or wave while swiping my card and always say "Thank you, have a great day" on my way out. Working out is therapeutic for me and walking into LTF truly feels like a well deserved escape. The locker rooms are huge with plenty of space to get ready and an awesome eucalyptus steam room for post workout relaxation. There are ample machines to choose from (at least 3 different types of treadmills) and if the main cardio room is full, the second (mostly weights) room has more cardio machines as well as a great space for matwork. Both spaces are connected with a very open, streamlined and clean layout. I have attended group fitness and regular yoga classes here for almost 2 years and love the variety thats offered (all included in membership!). If one class isnt challenging enough, there are several other types of yoga and instructors that I can choose from but the instructors will often change up the class to make sure everyone gets the most out of their experience. High energy, positive vibes and a lot of sweat are common in every cardio class and the more intense yoga classes (sculpt and hot yoga). There are classes for all preference levels and the instructors are laid back in the sense that they encourage everyone to work at their own comfort level. If you prefer one-on-one training, there are personal trainers on staff which my family has had nothing but great experiences with. The childcare&swimming lessons are also exceptional. As for parking, it can be difficult between 5 and 7pm but parking downtown is difficult 24/7 so I find it pretty tolerable here. Theres a skyway to walk through on either side of the building so youre never walking outside in the cold for long. This is the BEST gym EVER :)

Parents, prospective members - please read. I have been a member at the Plymouth Life Time for over a year. My kids, wife and I generally enjoy our visits there. The facilities are decent and the staff is friendly. I usually take my kids to swim, around mid-day a couple of times per month. BUT...And this is the reason for the one star. For those of you not familiar with the gym, there is a mixed gender family locker room with locked changing rooms and bathrooms. It is NOT family-friendly however. The majority of members using this locker room are older men (w/o kids). This has been the case almost every visit. Keep in mind there is a spacious mens only locker room down the hall. On multiple occasions I have been in the locker room with guys walking around in just towels - naked a few times too. Wait times for changing rooms and bathrooms are long as these guys tend to spread out and take their time. Not great when you have a wet, shivering toddler standing with you. "...room for parents with children" is written on all the doors. However this is in no way enforced. Note that I recently took my step-daughters off my membership because I do not feel OK with them using this "family" locker room. I have brought this up to the front desk staff multiple times and nothing has changed in the year plus Ive been going. Im hoping management will see this and do something about enforcing the club rules so I can feel a little better about bringing my kids to this gym (or find somewhere else to go that knows how to provide a safe environment for kids).

My family has been a member of Lifetime for over 20 years, and we have attended this specific club since it opened. I do not know why we have basically flushed thousands of dollars down the drain here. The facilities are nice, sure, but in my experience, so many of the people who work here (mainly the managers and people in positions of authority) are arrogant, uncooperative and treat people very differently based on their race, gender and perceived income-level. If you are a wealthy Wayzata soccer mom who needs a membership here, go for it. Anyone else, I highly encourage you to find an alternative facility. When I moved out of state for work, cancelling my membership was extremely difficult, and I ended up having to pay multiple months of wasted fees. I called member services here multiple times and nobody returned my calls. Finally, when I did get a hold of someone, instead of apologizing, they simply said "this is what you signed, deal with it." I get it, its part of your contract, but please very least show some courtesy and appreciation for all the money I have spent with you. I am in the process of canceling my parents and siblings memberships here too. I regret ever spending a dollar here.
