I bought a couples massage for some friends at this location. The issues started right away. They said everything would be setup and I gave my card information over the phone to pay for the massage during scheduling. They tried charging my friends saying that I never paid; I spoke with them on the phone and gave them my card number again so my friends could leave the establishment. That was April 2nd. Without my permission I was signed up for a monthly membership. I called after the first charge and they apologized and stated it would not happen again and my refund would be credited back within 2 weeks. Instead of a credit I received another charge a month later. At first I called on a weekly basis requesting an update as I did not receive my credits. Then after being told "it will be there within 5 business days" numerous times I started calling daily. I received second hand information that was being passed along to me. I was then told that I could go into the establishment and pick up a physical check that was never cut nor delivered to the location. I did receive a credit on June 1st for the 2 unauthorized charges. That credit was $10 short of the charges. At this point the frustration and inconvenience had been building up that I was not willing to let the $10 go. I changed my debit card information just to stop the charges from being able to be processed on my card after I received the credit. I was told they would mail me a physical check for the additional $10 and a gift card for all the troubles....today is July 10th and I have not received anything. Im really not that surprised and I have officially given up. To be 100% honest I never would have written a negative review had I received my credits because I normally do not like to take my negative experiences and complain about them since I could have been a unique circumstance. After reading the reviews it looks like I was not a unique circumstance and this happens quite often. I would never recommend this establishment or any other Massage Retreat and Spa due to this long drawn out issue. (Also was told the massage was "ehh...okay")

Scam Artists. I went there a while back to purchase a massage gift card for my wifes birthday. The total came to around $100, not bad for a two hour massage. They asked if I wanted to pay gratuity and I gave them 20% because I didnt want my wife to have to pay anything out of pocket for her birthday. I paid with my credit card, received the gift card and left. Two months later; Im checking my bank statement online and see the original purchase of $120, but I notice two other charges of $50 each for every month after I went in there. They have a program that they push to you to pay $50 a month and receive one massage and facial every month. I never signed up for this, but since they had my credit card info, they enrolled me in it without my knowledge. Thats not professional or even legal. I called them to ask for a $100 credit for the two monthly charges that were billed to me without my consent and to stop future monthly charges. After a few days of calling them and trying to get a hold of a manager, they agreed to credit back those charges. Fast forward to when my wife finally used the gift card: She went there and received a massage. She said she liked the massage. When she left they asked her if she would like to tip. My wife said, "My husband included gratuity when he purchased the massage." They said, "No, the gift card was only for $100 and didnt include the tip." My wife gave them $20 (cash - I told her about my experience with the credit card). When she came home she opened the gift card envelope and saw it was for $120, massage plus gratuity. They scammed my wife into giving them a 40% tip. Cliff’s notes: Dont give them your credit card info! Good massage, but the people at the front desk are not honest.

Called to make an appointment, she asked if I wanted to come in that night. I was surprised she was able to get me in on such short notice. I said no, another day would be better we agreed that tomorrow evening would work. I show up the next day 15 minutes early for my 9pm appointment. I was greeted by two woman who looked like I killed there dog when I stated I had a 9pm appointment. They looked at each other, fiddled with the computer and said, no we are all booked up. I gave them my name, and of course they found me and said, NO, your appointment is in two weeks. I relayed my conversation as it was just the day before so it was fresh in my memory- it was EVER SO CLEAR, neither one of them cared. NO apology was offered, no offer to reschedule. Horrible customer service. I would rather pay the extra money and go to a real Aveda Salon that knows how to book appointments. I understand mix ups happen and mistakes are made, but simple customer service was NON EXISTENT.

Experience started off great. My wife and i went for a Valentines day couple massage and loved it. I decided to sign up for their monthly $50 program for monthly massages, and was quickly turned off by their services. I scheduled my first massage for a month out, and they canceled it to reschedule. i tried rescheduling for 3 weeks, finally did and they canceled it again due to a "sick" massage therapist. They never called back to reschedule which they said they would, and continued to charge my account $50+ every month. I called to cancel and they said i had to submit an e-mail to their service center. So i did; no response for two weeks. So i call back, and they said i need to fill out the form online and someone will get back to me. So i did, and no one has gotten back to me. Terrible experience and really am still trying to get a response to them to get money back. never go there or sign up for their monthly program.

Do NOT join the monthly club. Its $60/month for a YEAR and they will not let you out of it once youre in unless you move out of state. I think its strange to have to lock into such a strict contract at a massage place. I feel like its a scam to just get my money every month and frankly, I felt pressured to join after my first appt. I called later to try and get out of being in the monthly club, but was told to email "member services". In my email, I asked for a call back and never got one. In almost any other case I can think of, I can just call a place of business and talk to someone about the issue and they are more than happy to take care of me as a valued customer. In the case of Massage Retreat, I was basically told to F off and "too late, you signed the contract." The whole experience has just soured me completely, but now I am stuck going there for a year. UGGGGH.
