Started off being a decent place to rent from. The people were friendly, payments were hassle free, security gate with individual passwords were nice, and the unit was not too shabby. Had our unit completely filled with furniture and boxes from the house we moved out of while we saved up to buy a house and lived in a place we had one bedroom to put belongings in. When it came time to move after a year and a half of renting, we discovered that our unit had been broken in to. We werent sure how, but our neatly stacked boxes had been torn open and dumped, drawers were tossed, our rod iron table had been cut in two, the side of my dresser had been ripped off and tossed to the other side of the unit, and many many items were missing. When the police got there, he said his best guess of how they got in was that the lock had been picked, so he just took inventory and went to see about video surveilance. The gentleman working at the office was extremely kind and helped as best he could, but this is where things started to get rough. Found out that they only keep one weeks worth of video on file, and having had the unit for over a year, we had no access to any kind of footage. He gave me the contact information for the insurance that they FORCE you to pay for (whether or not you have homeowners insurance) and wished me the best of luck and apologized for our situation. Not his fault, dont blame him, again, he was extremely kind. After the police officer left, we started taking inventory and examining what the heck had happened. Turns out, a piece of the wall of our unit had been removed where the thieves had been able to come and go as they pleased, and then just screwed the piece of metal back in. Horrible security issue right there. Then, after jumping through hoop after hoop with the insurance company, my claim was DENIED due to it stating in the policy that since the lock on the door was in tact and had no signs of being tampered with, they were not liable to pay me anything. Even had someone cut off my lock, stolen my belongings and put another lock on and it was in tact, they would not cover it. Mind you, I sent pictures of everything including the wall piece with the screws from the other side of the unit sticking through into mine. So with shady forced insurance and clearly nonsecure units, I would highly recommend avoiding renting from this storage faciility.

Its damn near impossible not to Love Tom & Melody. They are the embodiment of customer service and professionalism. Moving is stressful, and I was at my wits end on the day I rented my unit. Tom not only helped me unload some stuff, he carried on a friendly conversation that made me feel much less stressed out, and less self-conscious about my lack of moving day organization. I received a notice in the mail last week (Feb 2) that my rent was being increased by $11 on March 1, about 90 minutes later I got an email confirming receipt of my auto-payment for Feb at the increased rate. Thinking that Public Storage was trying to slip one by me on the auto-pay system I immediately called and left a steaming mad voicemail. Within 12 hours Tom and gotten back to me, and clarified that I had only been billed the original rent. I inquired with my credit card company, and indeed he was correct. In the meantime, I looked at what I had in storage and realized I didnt need the unit anymore, as I have since cleared some space in my garage. I went to the facility one evening and loaded all my stuff up and emptied my unit, leaving it swept out with no padlock on the door. 2 days went by before I had a chance to call the 1-800 number and cancel my storage unit. When I called in the CSR told me that the system showed my unit had been vacated yesterday and that I would not receive any further charges from Public Storage. Tom or Melody must have seen my gate entry code on the log, gone to check my unit and then taken the initiative to close out the account for me immediately. Wow! Not only did I have a great experience, I learned a little something about Class, which Tom and Melody have in droves. Go Here! They will take great care of you. Melody and Tom, Thank you.

This is a very nice facility and although I have only been renting a space there for under a month I thought I would write a review based on my experience so far... Pros- The facility is very clean, The staff member I met with (Tom) is very knowledgeable, helpful, and polite, it was very easy to find the right space to rent and it seems like a reasonable price as well. I would highly recommend this storage facility, it is very clean, professional, and easy to rent from with good prices. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Cons- I showed up at a busier time, and seeing as there is only one person working there and no separate waiting space for customers, I was asked to wait in my car as another customer was being helped. I waited for 20-30 minutes with my car running for heat (it was winter) during this time there was at least one other car that drove up, saw the office was temporarily closed and left before the worker returned.. Once Tom was freed up, he was very helpful and it was a quick renting process, but that was an inconvenience. There are also mandatory monthly insurance costs that are sprung on you as you are finalizing signing your rental agreements...so expect to pay an extra $10 or more than the listed price. There were also special deals only available online, so even though I was at the facility I had to rent online with my phone, in the public storage office.. just to secure the best deal available... kind of silly. In addition to this, at the time of my rental the entrance gate was out of commission due to a drunk driver having collided with it... this will be replaced at some point and a temporary fence is up in the meantime. I give it a 4/5 because of these things, which might seem nitpicky.. but it is my experience.

Reserved a 5x5 unit at the public storage in west Saint Paul on Marie Ave for 9/1/16 online immediately after I reserved the unit I received a call from the property manager at the location and we set up a time to meet on 9/1/2016 at 300 pm so I could fill out paperwork pay my months rent and move in, I arrived at 245 waited outside the office until 320 because the manager was no where to be found ,finally met with the manager spent about 25 mins sitting in the office while he typed a way and then he told me there was no longer a 5x5 unit available and preceded to try and upsale me on a bigger storage unit I then told him Im not interested in anything else but a 5x5 unit I reserved and asked him why he mislead me on the phone about the unit being available to move in on the 1st and why they would even let me reserve a unit for a specific date and if there wasnt any units available and then he said you didnt reserve a unit you reserved a time slot to talk to me about possibly renting a unit here in the future and any misunderstanding was my fault alone so I showed him the email I got from public storage yesterday saying I was ready to move in today into a 5x5 unit at this specific site and all I needed to do is bring my id and money and come meet with the property manager so then he just told me this is how we do things around here so if you dont have the money or unwilling to move into a bigger unit you need to leave and stop wasting my time
