Visited in April this year when my air conditioning stopped working, checked Google reviews and picked SafeWay due to average ratings and proximity to my apartment if I needed to walk back home after dropping off the car after business hours. Was expecting the freon to need a recharge. Staff was very friendly, communicative,And professional through the process. I was told that the issue was not the freon and that it wouldnt need a simple recharge, and diagnosing the issue would be a 100 dollar charge. I should have immediately gotten a second opinion. Verdict after the diagnosis that I paid for was that the compressor itself had an electrical short inside of it, and after parts and labor and tax my a/c was going to cost more than $1,100 (dont worry, we offer financing!). I promptly paid for the diagnosis and proceeded to simply let the issue go, having survived through an uncomfortable summer or two before without a/c. Months later with a referral from a family friend, I took the car elsewhere and told them what I was told at SafeWay, hoping to finally take care of the issue now that plans for alternate transportation to and from work was a possibility. And wouldnt you know it, all I needed was a basic evacuation and freon recharge. I was floored. The poor guy on the phone listened to my story of what I had been told, as I wanted to make sure there was no doubt that it was working again. For less than the cost of SafeWays "diagnosis" I was able to restore both my air conditioning and a portion of my sanity. Moral of the story: always get a second opinion. Especially if you have the appearance of someone who doesnt know everything about cars (e.g. young woman, thanks a lot gender stereotypes).

My experience with SafeWay Tire was frustrating. I try to support local businesses, but will never go back there again. First I tried to schedule an appointment on their new online appointment system. I promptly got a personal email from one of their guys confirming my appointment. When I showed up at the agreed time three days later, they said they had accidentally booked me for the day before, and that the "older" guys there didnt understand the new online scheduling system and they couldnt fit me in for another 4 days. I rescheduled for the next week, no big deal, people make mistakes. I showed up at the new appointment for my full synthetic oil change in my Subaru. After an hour and 20 minutes, (and telling me they didnt have any air filters and Id have to change it myself) they told me it was ready, and charged me for a regular oil change. After specifying again that I wanted full synthetic, they said theyd run it back through, redo the oil change, new oil filter, and itd be out in a minute. The whole ordeal was so frustrating that I politely told them I should at least some compensation for all the confusion, after sitting there for 2 hours, and he responded by giving me the whole oil change for free, which I thought was pretty cool of them. 2 weeks later, my car began to smoke profusely from the hood. I took it to the Subaru Dealership and they told me whoever changed my oil last time dented and banged up my oil filter, so much so that it looked "Like an animal had chewed it up or something..." and oil was spraying all over my undercarriage and burning. Horrible experience, horrible service, very confused and unprofessional staff. Never again!

Safeway is one of the best auto service centers in Greater Saint Louis. They have a group of extremely competent technicians and service advisers, who demonstrate a great deal of technical understanding on every aspect of your vehicle. On top of this, they are honest, and will not try to sell you on a repair or service that is unnecessary. I have done a great deal of business with these folks, and I am always impressed with their service and expertise. Having come to Saint Louis from the East Coast, there are very few shops back east that can compare to Safeway. These are people with whom you can build a long and trusting relationship. In short, they will take care of you,and this should bring some peace of mind to women who are often leery of being cheated or misled on their vehicle maintenance program. I seldom write reviews, but this organization deserves a lot of praise for its abilities and ethics.

Its been a while since Id been to this location, but my friend who worked for a competitor (I got steep discounts from him) has left that line of work so Im back at Safeway. My family has been coming here for years, and theres a good reason. Theyre so caring and so professional with everything they do. You really cant go wrong. They have all the latest equipment and diagnostic tools, which was a problem for me in the past (were talking 15 years), but no longer. Drive past and youll see theyre consistently slammed-- thats because people trust coming here. Prices are beyond competitive, and the service youll receive will blow your mind. You wont find this level of service anywhere in the state.

I drove in from California. Got a flat on the highway and needed a replacement tire. Had gone to Lindenwood Auto Shop first and almost got ripped off. They said I needed all 4 new tires. I told him that is not true...these tires only had about 15000 miles. I went down the street to Safe Way and told them I need a tire and asked them to look at the others. They were honest and said I only needed the one tire due to a nail going all the way through and damaged the tire. My son is attending Lindenwood University and now I feel I have an honest place to get any repairs necessary for his car. Thanks Safe Way!!! Blessings to your shop!!!!

I recently had suspension work performed on my sons car at Safeway. As usual, the quality of work performed as well as communication with the Service Advisor and the overall experience I would rate as EXCELLENT!!! I have been coming to Safeway for 40 plus years for tires and needed repair work. I have found them to be very honest and reliable in my dealings with them. I do not hesitate to recommend Safeway Tire to my friends for any needed automotive products.

I have trusted Safeway Tire & Auto for regular service needs and repairs, on both our personal and business vehicles, for over 20 years now. If they can do it, thats where I go first. Dennis, Jay, and staff have always done quality work, treated us fairly and with integrity, and charged a competitive price. Their tire selection and tire warranty coverage is great also. I highly recommend Safeway Tire & Auto, an outstanding locally owned small business.
