HORRIBLE customer service, professionalism and unskilled. We called them this past Fall to help with a back up in our slop sink drain. Long story short they were unable to do what they are supposedly trained to do and unclog the line, instead they left of mess of our home, The tech that opened the main line failed to put it back correctly and left it leaking sewage water into our carpeted family room. Subsequently we had to call another company that finished the job in a professional manner without any mess. Roto rooter did not attempt to apologize, make any accomodations or offer to fix any of the problems that they caused. I did as they said and sent them a letter explaining our complaint and griefvance. I went into great detail aobut the damaged it caused and the health hazard the mess they left posed for our newborn child who had respiratory problems as the time and i was concerned with sewarge gases and mold from the leak they left. They ignored my letter, never responded. They charged us the full price for a service they did not complete without us authorizing a payment from a credit card they must have had on file from a simple kitchen drain clog they did a few years ago. The worst part was, the manager not even sure he was a manager. "Jack"..maybe? owner? main guy? was completely nasty, cold and obnoxious when i called to find out how they would resolve the problem. POOR customer service all around. He said thats not our problem, that is how it goes there is always damage when their is a back up. He is a liar because the previous company came out resolve the issue did not leave a stitch of water or dirt behind and were professional. This company is horrible and i would highly recommend staying away from it and using local plumbers that honor their work and have much better customer service exceedingly compared to this horrible company.

I called Roto Rooter on October 24th to snake out our check valve as it had blown in our back yard. The gentleman snaked it out and said eventually we should have a service come out with a camera as there may be bellies in the system. What unfortunately happened was when he pulled out the snake, it took off the cap to the check valve (which we did not find out until we had another clean out company come the following week). A few days after this service, we experienced a back up, but instead of going outside, it came into our house and caused several thousand dollars worth of damage. We called your office again (October 27th) and another technician came out on October 28th and snaked out another clean out under our deck and we thought that was going to be the end of it, but of course it wasnt. We had to call a remediation company to remove the sewage on October 28th and they had to come again the next day as the system backed up again. We called a different company (All Clear) to assess the situation and with the camera, he found the check valve cover issue. He dug up the area and repaired the check valve and thankfully it has been ok ever since. Because of the issue the first technician caused we have had to pay over $4000 in damages and will have more expenses to repair. I sent this message to the Bergenfield office via their website and have not received a response. I also contacted the corporate office and they directed me back to the franchise owner with no response. It is only right for them to refund the monies I paid as the service provided caused severe damage to my home.

My husband and I are first time home owners. We just had our floors done and then I noticed this bubble of water dripping onto my floor in our bathroom. In my hysteria, I contacted a few other plumbing companies and one which I care not to mention was charging an emergency rate of $229.00 plus $80.00 / half hour this was not including the supplies needed and taxes. I decided to give Roto Rooter a call and there was no "emergency rate". They had a technician out to our home within the hour. Once he arrived he was very thorough and explained everything in a clear and precise manner. The cost of the work was fair and totally beat the other company. Our technician was professional and kind. I would definitely call Roto Rooter again if we ever need their services. They are in one word fantastic! Thank you once again. Regards, The Soares Family

Called them to snake a drain and they came and snaked it and left a mess of epic proportions!!! I was not home and when I returned they had splattered my dryer, walls, sump pump and even new construction area with sludge from the drain!!! The icing on the whole experience is when I called to voice my unhappiness with the mess, Stan and Tony the "plumbers" who did the "job" handled my call and was NASTY and RUDE and did NOTHING to amend the situation except to tell me that clogged drains are messy and he asked for paper towels and my Mom said we had none?!?! Really?? Liar Liar!! What happened to customer service Ken??? The mess he left was unacceptable and just WRONG!!! The best part is he didnt even clear the clog!!!! I would NOT recommend this ROTO-ROOTER if my life depended on it!!!!!

I had a main sewer blockage in my home causing water to back up in my basement. Of course it had to happen late on a weekend. I called many places who couldnt send anyone out. Finally called RotoRooter despite being skeptical due to some bad reviews. They sent a plumber out right away, within the time frame promised. Jose was very knowledgeable and solved the problem within one hour after snaking the line up to 60 feet out. The price was a bit steep but I had no greater expectations for emergency service late on a Saturday. Im thankful they were able to resolve the issue quickly and avoided extensive water damage to my basement. They even gave me a 30 day guarantee should this occur again. Very satisfied with the service.

It was an outside drain problem. And the companys policy says they do not grantee any outside jobs. So here they go. They used a snake and went through the pipe. After a while, they claimed that the job was done. We poured water to test. The water did not go anywhere. We were told that it is because the ground water level is too high. It should be fine the next day. We waited and tried. The water still does not go anywhere. We called them. No use. They insisted the pipe is clean and the water does not go anywhere because of saturated ground water. Even if we dig out and find the pipe is not clean, we have to pay for another visit!!!! It was a really really bad experience. If you have a problem, try somebody else~~

Late Friday eve our youngest flushed some toys (stuffed animals) down the basement bathroom toilet and they hung up in the waste line causing the toilet to back up. Called Roto-Rooter spoke with a fellow named Jack even though they sounded busy he scheduled a guy to come out that night. Fellow arrived pretty quick was very professional and went right to work. He cleared the line very fast and tested it just to make sure in font of me. Didn’t rob me blind and didn’t leave a mess. I would use them anytime.
