Been using them for about 3 years. They raise the rates on a regular basis (I called a rep when I got notice of the most recent rate increase, and he said they raise the rates as often as every 6 months...). I have yet to see any improvement in the facilities.... they could perhaps buy better lighting, or a few more moving carts? On at least one occasion, the facility where my storage unit is had a side entrance door broken and left open.... so anybody could have accessed the facility. The entire complex is open to traffic at all hours (the main entrance has a gate but a side entrance is always open) - so security is also a concern... On another occasion, my access code was not working. I was on the site during operating hours when staff is supposed to be on-site and available. I could not get in to the facility that houses my unit, and upon trying to contact the staff I found the office was closed with a handwritten note taped to the door saying "out for a family issue"...

Its in a flood zone. Hurricane Irene wiped out all of my stuff. They waited a week to call and dont even have fans going to air the place out. They called 1 week after the hurricane and said stop down and check your stuff. When I got there I couldnt get teh door opened the attendant had to pry it with a crow bar. They said to throw the ruined stuff into the dunpster. The concrtete fllor was wet and slippery. I fell, hurt my arm, wrist, elbow, houlder and back. Called the main office and they told me I have to speak toa "site manager". The site manager isnt there. The site manager is supposed to be there 9-6. Now that all of my stuff is ruined I have nothing to store there. If you care about your stuff. DO NOT STORE YOU STUFF IN A FLOOD ZONE. At any price. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. I am not making this up. They did nothing to ensure the safety before or after the hurricane.

Ive been a customer for a little over two years, and outside of the first month discount, Ive gotten rate increase behind rate increase. I havent seen any changes in the facility that would justify the rate increases every few months, other than a new manager every few months. On the brighter side, the facility is fairly well-maintained and clean. Access to my unit is great, never need to worry that the facility will be closed. There are two moving carts available for use in inside the building where my unit islocated. However, the carts are chained and padlocked, and can only be unlocked during the hours that the office is open. Most of the staff are helpful and courteous. All in all, it meets my needs enough that Im satisfied.

Just wanted to let everyone reading this about my experiances at ESS..Im a long time customer, and have never had an issue there....I rent a CC unit, and it is always proper temp. Access to the unit is great, in fact, when I recently condensed 2 units into this one, Danielle went through extra effort to make sure I got a unit next to an entrance door...The hallways are always clean, in fact, maintence is NEVER an issue...and if it becomes one( bulb out, etc), everything is taken care of right away. The hallways are well lit, and always swept. Everyone who works there is a professional in the truest sense...Overall, ESS gets an AAAA+++++ from me.....

Ive been a customer for several years now. Yes, in the beginning theres some policies and price negotiations that need to be done, but once youre settled in, pretty straightforward and hassle-free, just pay your bill on time as any other place. After few years there, they were able to help me re-adjust to meet my needs and even got me better rates. Very happy now and prices are very competitive. Most of all, easy access right off Rt.17N, very clean, large, spacious and SAFE facilities, very well lit and just simply convenient to access whenever I need. Would recommend over other places anyday.

I have used a storage locker for several years now. However, the place I was in has become increasingly expensive and has been slowly deteriorating in cleanliness. I found Extra Space Storage online and there rates today are more reasonable than other storage places. The staff (Andy), was excellent, informed, courteous and always was able to make you laugh. For a converted foundry, the place is almost immaculate. The lockers are very clean as well as the hallways. I would strongly recommend this place over the other area storage places due to price, conveinance and friendliness of staff.

From the beginning the idea of renting a storage shed and having to move in and out was not something I was looking forward to. The first thing I noticed when i arrived at Extra Space was that the entire facility (a former manufacturing building) was clean and well maintained. The next thing I learned was that there was a terrific manager, Alex. Throughout my entire rental Alex was a great guy to deal with. He would drop whatever he was doing if you needed him and made the experience as pleasant as possible. If you need to rent a shed in the Mahwah area, call and ask for Alex.

This place is great! Its clean, well managed, and has great internet specials. Ive rented several units from them over the years and have always been very satisfied with the quality. Ive worked mainly with 2 guys, Alex and Rob and they both have helped to get me into the size that I need in a good location. I move large bins in and out weekly, so location is very important to me! Also, its got good accessibility hours. I wouldnt mind it being accessible 24 hours a day, but its pretty close. Overall, I highly recommend this facility for your storage needs.

My storage space has been secured. I have not used it yet because I am waiting to retrieve my belongings from another space that I have rented for a while in a different city. I was very pleased in the initial meeting with the staffer on duty the day I became a customer of Extra Space Storage. He was very patient and professional in explaining everything that I needed to know as well as showing me available spaces that would meet my needs. I look forward to a great relationship with Extra Space Storage.

Conviently located, I have been quite satisfied with both my large outside unit as well as my smaller inside unit. The prices for this location in Mahwah are reasonable (internet rates were honored.) The staff have been wonderful and have gone above and beyond in answering my questions, concerns and needs. Sandie, the manager, and Eric do a great job running this facility. The accessibility into the complex and mulitple floor building is easy and secure. Its kept super clean too.

I would like to start by saying the i really had a wonderful experience as for as Quality and especially customer service, but when it comes to the price i was really disappointed. i do have to mention that they did inform me that the price may increase after some time, but i did not imagine that by such a big margin. When i rented the room in March 2014 the price was $57.78 to be exact, but now in May 2016 the price is $82.39 already. So judge for yourself.
