A/C stopped working the other day, forced hot air system so blower on furnace wasnt working. . Called Varsity they came the next morning and said it was a bad circuit board , he thought, he called it the "first step" that we could try that for about 1400$ and see if that was the problem told me it would take several days to order the part. Told me couldnt put power to the motor with the model I had to see if that was in fact the issue. Furnace is 14 years old so we decided to get a new one. Varsity person goes out to truck for 30+ minutes comes back in with a quote of 5800 for just the furnace replacement. While he was out in truck I did some quick research and everything I found for 100,000 btu high efficiency furnace was in the 3300-3800 range installed. I questioned him on it and his response was that I better see if they were licensed and insured. I asked for a couple of quotes on specific brands that I was seeing Lenox and Rheem and he came back with 5400 and 5200 , a little bit better but still extremely high and he told me that was the best they could do. As soon as Varsity person left I called several other contractors who confirmed the prices I was seeing the highest was 1500 less then what Varsity was charging. A friend gave me a referral to a licensed, insured company with 35+ years in business, guess what same Rheem furnace that Varsity quoted is being installed in my house today for 3500$ . What a rip off Varsity is, get second opinions.

A year ago, I called Varsity to diagnose and fix a two year old gas furnace that was shutting off every few hours. A technician came to the house and told me the gas valve was bad and that I should replace the furnace since the repair cost as much as the furnace. Since I was super-busy and had a one-month old child in the house, I didnt get a second opinion and went with the diagnosis. Once the new furnace was installed, it had the same problem as the original! So I called the gas company and they came that day and replaced the regulator on the gas meter which had gone bad. Turns out the old furnace was operating perfectly and it was replaced for no reason! The worst part was that Varsity refused to admit that they screwed up. I took them to small claims court and won my case before a mediator. So what did Varsity do? They appealed and went back to court before a judge. This time the technician told the judge that he had actually checked the pressure of the gas line (I never saw him do it) and that the furnace and gas line regulator failures were coincidental (highly unlikely). For whatever reason, the judge ruled in Varsitys favor. Having worn me out, I dropped the issue. So not only did I waste money, I wasted all that time :-( At least the new furnace they installed was more efficient than the old one. All in all, it was the worst contractor experience I have ever had.

They are a rip off. They charge $500 for a camera survey down main sewer line. they got about 10ft and couldnt go no more and that was it. I called roto rooter afterwards who did the camera inspection and estimate for free and they were able to put the camera in all the way and do a thorough inspection. Do not use them. Also the people in the office are rude and dont know anything.

Very positive experience. Trevor arrived promptly, first thing in the morning. Wore booties over his boots, came prepared to conduct the repair work needed on our boiler, which he did in good order. He was pleasant and professional, patiently answered our many questions, and was prepared to replace an old thermostat that was not part of the initial work order. Highly recommended.

We had a new gas boiler installed yesterday and they were terrific. The 2 service tech were right on time very polite and did everything to keep the mess to a minimum. They put down drop clothes to cover all floors and swept up anything else that might have dropped in the basement.
