First of all, Im a tough reviewer. If you look at my other reviews, Im pretty freaking honest at the expense of making enemies of people I may have to depend on in the future. With that being said - Hoffman Automotive is a place Id go back to, but Id be better about following up on the progress of whats going on. They are just *really* busy. They only have a handful of mechanics, and the place is huge. So, while Im fine with them working on my car - chances are one of the other local mechanics will get me in sooner. If you can get your car in there though, I dont imagine youll be unhappy with their work. Its a family owned and run business. The woman behind the counter (the mom) is really busy. So you might need to follow up on status and appointments...but its worth it. Shes just the sweetest person to speak to. Shes also really sharp, she remembered a call I made months ago (my first interaction with them) about an issue I was having - even though all I left was my phone number, and I never had them do the work for me. This guy Jeff that youll see reviewers writing about, is probably the smartest guy youll ever have under your hood. He graduated from UB with an Engineering degree and also has a business degree. From what his mother told me, hes been working on cars with his father forever. I dont know about you, but personally I am comforted by the idea of a mechanic with an engineers mind. I didnt meet the father, I think Ive seen him there working on cars though. Anyway, its a nice little group to deal with. All very kind, wholesome people. Now, as far as the reviewer who says that he was scammed by them, I simply dont believe it. As Im sure you can tell from my review, I didnt just go in, drop off a car, come back after 4 hours, pay and then leave. Ive dealt with them extensively over the past couple of months. Some things were good, some things not so much. Id be lying if I said everything was perfect from start to finish. But, everything Ive seen says to me that that they are good honest people to deal with. I knew where we stood throughout the entire process. I was happy when I walked out the door, and thats all that really matters.

My car battery has died twice in the last couple weeks so I needed someone to have a look. I live in the city and wanted to find a reliable place for car service. I found Hoffman online and couldnt be more pleased. I called at about 6:00pm on a Monday and they actually close at 5:30pm. One of the owners answered and after I described my issue, he said well since were here, just come on down and well have a look. I went there and meet the two owners, father and son. They were very nice! They tested my battery and determined it was dead and needed to be replaced. They even showed me the test in progress, nothing to hide here. They fixed it on the spot at a competitive price and filled up the air in my tires. I was out of there in 30 mins. Apparently they do everything from oil changes to major repairs, so I will definately be going back there! They had everything from economical cars in their shop to some of the most expensive cars that probably exist in Buffalo. I think these guys know what they are doing and I recommend them!

I first took my girlfriends Rav4 to Hoffman Automotive after the dealership quoted around $1,700.00 to fix an issue where the hatch wasnt holding and would randomly keep the dome light on causing the battery to drain. Hoffman fixed it for $50.00. The second time I had the pleasure of dealing with this company is when i brought in my Optima. I was complaining of brakes sticking. After looking at the vehicle, I was informed that it wasnt brakes, rather it was the transmission, which was covered under dealer warranty. Only charged me $40.00 for labor time. The point that i want to stress is this. If you are looking for an HONEST collision shop, this is it. They had two opportunities to take advantage of a situation, and they did not. Because of that, Hoffman Automotive will be the only place I will be bringing my vehicle.

I was SCAMMED by Hoffman Automotive & Collision in downtown Buffalo. If you looking for an honest mechanic, dont go here. I went in for an inspection and they pointed out that I need a brake line replace. He showed me where it was leaking and he said he could repair the part that was leaking for $300 or replace the entire line for $500, which he recommended. I went with the full replace option and paid the full $500. A month later I looked underneath the car and he only replaced the section that was leaking, but charged me for replacing the full line, plus parts. I was totally scammed. This is my story, I hope you read this, so you dont get taken advantage of like I was.

Great precise careful collision work at a fair price, using manufacturer parts. I watched their mechanics work while I was there and I was impressed with the fact they they torques everything by hand rather than use the air tools so common in most shops.

There is nobody better. Didnt realize my inspection was about to expire and they worked overtime to get it done. I trust them with all my cars. Great service and high level of integrity.

Very polite people. Took very good care of my car. Went above and beyond and gave my car a complete check even though I only went in there for an exhaust issue.

Great work. Fair price. nobody would touch my Mercedes, but Jeff did for 1/4 of what the dealership charged.
