Main Concerns: - Terrible customer service / interest in calling customers back - Potential attempt at "bait and switch" Description: I had a terrible experience with Huntington Honda. I am an Army soldier who is stationed in Georgia but is originally from New Jersey. I was looking to purchase a used Nissan Altima 2012, and my father noted that prices for used Altimas were $2000-3000 higher in Georgia than in the NY / NJ area. I decided to use a car inspection service to check out car options in NY first and then ship down the purchased vehicle to Georgia. I found Huntington Hondas attractive price for a used 2012 Altima, began corresponding with Jane Gorgone in Pre-Owned Sales, and ordered an inspection of the Altima I was interested in. The technician who inspected the car approved it. I told Jane that I wanted to purchase the car, and she transferred me to her colleague Jeff in Sales / Purchasing. What followed next was terrible customer service that still confuses me, as I had already made clear that I definitely wanted to purchase the car immediately, without financing. I informed Jeff that my father would drive up from NJ to Long Island to deliver the payment on his day off. I asked what documents my father would need to present in person. Jeff replied, "Ill call you back." Over the next two days, I called back several times during my short breaks from training, only to get several more "Ill call you backs" from Jeff, but he would never call. Finally, on the day before my father was supposed to drive up to deliver the payment, I demanded angrily that I speak with someone. The operator at Huntington Honda asked if I wanted to buy a car from them, and I replied that I was trying very hard to do so, but no one was picking up my calls. I was eventually connected with Andy (also in Sales / Purchasing) who confirmed the details and told me to check back that night at 8 pm to confirm that the car was still available. I did so and was told the car was available. The next morning, my father called to tell me that before he left for a 2 hour drive up to Long Island, he called Huntington Honda a few minutes before his planned departure to confirm the car was available. He was told the car was not available. I called several times to speak with either Jane or Jeff, but I was told repeatedly over 30-45 minutes that both had "stepped away from their desk." Only after demanding angrily that I speak with someone did Andy tell me that the vehicle was sold late the night prior but that another used Nissan Altima 2012 was available for about $1,500 more. Im less frustrated that Huntington Honda sold the vehicle - If someone came and put down a deposit in-person, that person has the right to get the car - Im mainly angry that I had to fight tooth and nail to speak with someone when I was certain that I wanted to purchase one of Huntington Hondas vehicles. On a similar note, Im angry that even after I had been speaking to the dealership for a week about the vehicle and when they knew my father was driving to deliver a payment, they did not call me to say that the vehicle had already been sold. If my father hadnt called last-minute to confirm the vehicles availability, he would have driven 1.5 hours up to Long Island just to be told someone dropped the ball. Thanks a lot, Huntington Honda.

Updated On: 7/19/2013 =================== Yes Ive got all my money back including taxes. Thanks a lot to Andy Kitzen for prompt response and taking care of this case on a priority basis. Its always better late than never! Thanks again! Original Post: 7/12/2013 12:02:06 AM =============================== Recently I’ve purchased a pre-owned Honda certified used car (Civic 2010) and I had really a bad experience with Huntington Honda. After a 2.5 months of wait Ive decided to write a review: I went to Huntington Honda West. I took a print out of their online price and finalized the car. The sales man explained me the price break up and tax calculation in his hand written sales order, I signed the order and he took it the manager for final paper work and financing. After finishing paper work the manager called me to his desk and suddenly started showing up how much installment I’ve to pay for an ‘Extended Warranty’. He described the thing as if the EMI includes the cost of car as well as extra warranty and the delta is very nominal (Actually the EMI amount of the car and yearly charge for that Extended Warranty was almost same around $259 and so he played the tricks to sell the extra warranty). When I realized the ‘Extended Warranty’ was costing me extra $1395, I decided to cancel it and submitted the cancellation form the very NEXT DAY of the purchase. He said it’ll be cancelled within 4-6 weeks. But still I found there was some DISCREPANCY of $295 in the Final financed amount and the price in the sales order which the sales man provided me initially. He was trying to convince me that it’s some tax thing… and finally told me that it’s because of Theft protection device in the car and that can’t be removed or cancelled. When I asked why didnt he tell me before ... he said ‘SORRY’!!! This is even NOT the END of the STORY. I used to follow up over phone regarding extended warranty cancellation status and every time they asked me to wait for 4 to 6 weeks. After 6 weeks when I visited the branch in person, after a long wait the sales man talked to me and informed that they DIDNT RECEIVE ANY CANCELLATION FORM because that manager already left the company (even though I submitted the cancellation form in front of the sales man and talked to him several times over phone regarding the cancellation status)!! That day I resubmitted the cancellation form and it’s been total 2.5 months and still waiting for that money back! Another horrified thing I discovered on that day. That another $295 discrepancy was actually an extra ‘After Sell’ fee (but they never mentioned about it and it’s not there in their website) and the manger never showed me that computerized final sales order and I didnt even signed that form. I realized it when on my request the sales man gave me that copy. So please be extremely careful about these people, their tricks and hidden costs if you decide to buy a car from them. Also be informed that these kind of warranties can only be cancelled through the dealer, NOT by calling the insurance company!!! Now Hoping that I’ll get back at least $1395 if not another $295 of After Sell hidden fee.

I bought Honda 2014 EXL fully loaded on October 2013 from here. Process was seamless and everybody dealt with me during the purchase were very pleasing. During the purchase, I was given an option if I want to purchase extended warranty. I was kind of a new driver so I asked if I needed extended warranty or not. I was told by the Sales Person that Honda is reliable and may not be required, but just an extra precautions and peace of mind so it is up to me. I asked if I can purchase temporarily and cancel after doing some research. I was told that extended warranty only take effects after 3 years or 36K miles and can be cancelled anytime without any penalty/forfeit. So, I decided to purchase the warranty that time, which costed me little less than $2K. After doing some research I came to conclusion that Warrantech insurance I purchased did not have good reviews and more importantly Honda buyers have fairly good experience on its reliability and was not recommended for extended warranty; so I decided to cancel it. I have done one oil change which was free and done one State inspection which was also about $10. Service is one of the best in the market and it was very quick. I really loved it. However, during my last service I talked to the Account department and requested to cancel the extended warranty and issue full refund as promised during the purchase. Unfortunately, I have been told that I can not cancel the warranty without penalty and in case if I decide to cancel, I would get only partial prorated amount. I am then told that I have already used the warranty benefits and can not get full refund, but when I asked what are the benefits for the first three years and what I have been used so far. He did not have answers, after looking some papers for couple of minutes, he then told there are no benefits for the first three years and the warranty only takes effect after 3 years but I could only get the prorated amount which could be about 25-30% of what I paid. Are you kidding? I wanted to talk manager or Sales person who dealt and lied to me during purchase, but they were not there. I have referred at least 5 friends who bought/leased Honda from this dealer and I also need to buy a new Honda for my wife very soon, but it is very unlikely that I recommend any of my friends or buy any new vehicles from here anymore. I have scheduled service appointment next week, and hopefully I can talk to the manager about this and come back to update this review and continue the business with them.
