I am usually a fan of most postal offices. I find the workers calm and competent. NOT the case here. The workers are rude and unprofessional. My latest experience was trying to locate a delivered package which disappeared. Let me be clear.......stuff happens, I get that. Things go missing, things get lost, things get stolen. But when I call the office, as polite as can be, the supervisor says "our computer says we delivered it so it was delivered " I ask them to double check in the back and he gets all huffy. Then he gets back on the phone all defensive and says.....verbatim "its delivered, we did our job so this is not our problem." Really, that is exactly what he said. I wrote a complaint to the postal inspector, which stated that they will get back to me in 48 hours. Never heard from them again. Then this week I had my mail held, to be delivered on the 27th. Its the 28th and still not here. So I will go there tomorrow and deal with their attitude. I go out of my way to avoid this office and drive to another one in town. Unfortunately they are my assigned office. No wonder why the post office is going out of business. These pseudo-civil service workers with a full-time civil service attitude.

Agree with lorin james. This is the worst post office. It is also my assigned post office, I live in lloyd harbor and sometimes take my way down snake hill and take my business to the Cold Spring Harbor post office instead, when I can. They are so much nicer, very polite and never crowded. Unfortunately for my area of the neck, my mail man was on vacation for like 8 weeks in the summer so my mail wouldnt come until 3-5pm, I would call just to make sure they didnt forget to come and ask them if they had any idea when he would be coming back. I had a women answer each time, she never said her name, but she was extremely rude and always had an attitude. I have an ebay business so I want to make sure they come to pick up the packages. I would also register my packages to be picked up online and then they would deliver my mail but never pick up my packages. Very frustrating. I had to call D.C. and complain about my post office it fixed things for a few months, my mail would be delivered at 12pm as usual and they would pick up my packages. Its just very annoying that these people we trust to handle our mail cant do there damn job right.

Package delivery by USPS is horrible. Today, a package was left on my walkway, next to my driveway. Apparently, it was too much for the carrier to walk up the flat walkway, 15 feet, to the covered front porch and ring the doorbell. I do not recall the last time I had a delivery where the carrier actually rang my door bell. I have "discovered" packages on my porch the day AFTER delivery, as I drive away from my house and look over to my porch and see them: the carrier did not ring the bell the day before for me to even know that the package was there. I have gotten packages left outside my closed garage door and have almost run over them. I am getting tired of this. And I am tired of calling a USPS customer service number where the person on the other end cannot speak English and I have to have them repeat everything they say several times to understand them. Enough!

The machine wont transfer the line to customer service until you dont tell them what you need help with and when you tell them and the machine is giving you different options and saying I dont get you WTH I just need to talk to the freaking customer service

The worker who handled passport applications the day I went in should watch her tone with customers. There is a way to inform someone without coming off as confrontational.
