I went to this place a few years ago and they were phenomenal, honest, quick repairs and they interacted with me at each step to say should they/shouldnt they do this before charging me for it. HOWEVER, recently I went in 2013 and they had my car over a week (which is OK), but then they did ~1hr labor that they charged me over 80$ for. I understand part cost BUT 1hr labor for 82$??? Who gets paid 82$ an hour? +an alignment they outsourced for (at Pattersons for another 95$- any mechanic with a lift can align tires). A quick tune-up and check cost me over 400$ which was ridiculous. They also recently took care of my friends car charging him over 800$ and not checking with him first regarding pieces bought/changed out and they had his car 3 weeks...and it still ist running!

They gave me awesome deals when I was in college and pretended to be not so well off. But when I graduated and my mother came to get a ride home with me (keep me company on the road home) they realized I was well off. My brakes went out and I needed a quick fix and they stuck knife in my back!!!! Charging 300 for a job they didn't get done right. They left slack in my break and didn't bleed them well!!! My mechanic back home changed my oil and transmission oil and did my brakes right for 106 dollars just today!! These guys suck and always say they are working too hard.

Im absolutely furious dealing with these jerks. I have a 22 foot short bus then broke down, and I get one tow per brake down with my AAA coverage. These turds lied to me yesterday and said it would be no problem to fix the issue. This morning the old man calls me to tell me its too tall for him to work on and I will have to have it towed elsewhere, costing me extra money on the tow and not even touching my vehicle!!! This place sucks big time!!!

This place is right across my apartment. Ive come here a few times and talked to Steve. This guy is really nice and helpful. He didnt charge me quite a few times so hes really trying to help people out. Hes very knowledgable about cars and its his family business. The other staff who work here are also pretty helpful; theyve helped me out here countless times. Highly recommend.

New to Ithaca and tried Pattersons then Best. The guys at Best were candid, honest and extremely helpful, doing the minor repair work I needed on the spot at minimal cost. At Pattersons I was told to pay $400 and given a condescending explanation of why the repairs price was so high. No question in my mind this truly is the best auto repair option in Ithaca.

Best Auto has excellent mechanices who are honest, provide good service, and go out of their way to do right by their customoers. I have been going there since they opened and have never been unhappy with their work. Both Bill and his son Steve have a breadthe and depth of knowledge of cars that is a rare find.

The guys are honest and helpful, I went there to replace the drive belt and they helped me fixed the noisy issue without changing any parts and at no cost. Strongly recommend this place.
