Ive taken two of my vehicles (a 1966 Jeep and a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser) to Pattersons: Im pleased with the quality of the work, the fair rates, and the communication. As you read the rest of this review, it might be helpful to know that I do much of my own auto repairs but have limited time, tools, and even knowledge to do all the repairs needed on my own vehicles. For my two vehicles, Pattersons has been my go-to shop from 2015 - the present. Ive previously tried a dealership in town, a muffler shop, and another independent auto repair shop. Pattersons is by far the best. What makes Pattersons different--and, in my opinion, superior? Pattersons has the best communication of any service station Ive ever used for my vehicles. Via phone calls and/or text messages, I get updates at all the critical points in the process: 1. Beginning: when I drop my vehicle, Pattersons is clear about when they expect to get to my vehicle. 2. Middle: I receive an estimate before work begins and get updates along the way when things go as planned or when Pattersons finds additional issues. Pattersons asks whether I want to proceed if the costs will exceed what weve already discussed. 3. End: I get a clear indication of exactly when my vehicle is ready and how much the work cost. I cant speak highly enough of the mechanics at Pattersons. They always get my car in and out quickly. They are friendly and they know my name and car (admittedly, this may be because my car is old and goes in more often than some peoples). They are always willing to talk through the reason for and details of a repair, and they work with me because they know my car is old and I dont necessarily want to fix everything. Theyll tell me what things are safety issues, and theyll give me a heads up when they see something that will need repair in 6 months, etc. I do not get that "slimy" feeling that I have sometimes gotten from mechanics in the past. One time my car was parked at the airport and lost all of its clutch fluid. I tried to refill it, but there was air in the line. I rushed to Pattersons just minutes before they closed, and they explained how to bleed the clutch line. They even turned their computer back on to show me the part that I was supposed to locate under the hood. And today (Monday), I needed my muffler repaired by Saturday. They were booked up for the later part of the week, so I brought it in in the afternoon, and they had it ready for me in under 2 hours. Couldnt ask for better mechanics! To top it all off, they have a great location downtown--really convenient for dropping off and picking up the car.

I love having my Prius serviced by Pattersons Service Station. Their service is courteous, timely, experienced and cost effective for all makes and models of cars. They have kept my Prius with 104,000 miles in fantastic shape - from brakes, to springs, to tires, snow tires, and the regular service repairs and oil changes. I trust Pattersons implicitly to care for my car, because every time you get behind the wheel, you have to feel that your car is in tip top shape and has been carefully evaluated for any repairs that might compromise your vehicle. The guys at Pattersons are honest, experienced and best of all, fun guys to visit at their shop on N. Aurora St. Pattersons, youre the BEST!!!

I would love to love Pattersons, but I dont. Yes, they are understanding when you need something in a rush, and yes, they are right downtown. But the bad attitude (condescension, crabbiness) of the guys up front, including the owner, is keeping me away. (The mechanics who work in the garage seem very friendly, though.) Theres also the fact that they tried to charge me over $300 for a part that I got at NAPA for $110 (yes, it was the exact same part). I can deal with jerks if the price is right, and I can deal with exorbitant markups if the people are cool, but uncool jerks with high prices make for a losing combination. Go someplace else and have a nicer experience.

I have been taking my cars to Pattersons for many years, and I have never been anything but grateful for their service. I appreciate that they often alert me to possible repairs that might be coming up within the next year, so I can plan for them. They explain the details in clear language, without making me feel like Im an idiot about cars (an experience I have had at other repair shops). Setting up appointment has always been very easy, and they are wonderful about accommodating my schedule. Finding a good auto repair shop is almost as valuable as finding a good doctor, and I am happy that Pattersons has been part of my life for the past 20 years.

Ive been a Pattersons customer for over a decade, and maybe closer to two decades. They have kept my 2002 Subaru going strong. This last time I was in just for an inspection. I was able to set up the appointment with a quick text message, and the appointment was for just when I wanted. During the inspection they noted a problem underneath the car, but didnt pressure me to have it repaired right away or even at Pattersons. They simply told me that while it would have to be repaired at some point, it was not an immediate problem.

We have been bringing our cars to Pattersons for many years. They do excellent prompt work. They are always able to tell us what needs immediate fixing and what other options would work. They look for used parts if you want or supply new parts quickly if that is what is best. They are honest. They are knowledgeable. They are kind. They take good care of their customers. They have an extremely convenient location, right at the bottom of the hill and a block away from the commons. As for the service, it was tremendous. They got the job done efficiently, quickly, and produced a great product. All of the guys that work at Pattersons are extremely friendly, cracking jokes with you the entire time you are there, while keeping everything professional. I would highly recommend Pattersons if you have any automobile needs.

Pattersons has always been reliable, honest, and fast. Everyone is really nice to work with. They explain problems well and give options. When other places couldnt solve more technical issues or could, but taking much longer or at a high price, Pattersons was always able to solve them faster and correctly the first time. I feel comfortable taking all our cars here over other places in Ithaca, especially for more than an oil change!

Ive been bringing my cars to Patersons for over 20 years. Mostly Hondas, an Infiniti and now an Acura. I value honesty and quality of work above all else; I am not that price sensitive. But even considering price, I would highly recommend them. They have done routine maintenance for me as well as some more complicated fixes. Always done right, done on time and at a fair price. And absolutely never those annoying upsells.
