I just recently used U-Haul of Henrietta while moving out of my apartment at RIT this past Saturday, and I had a HORRIBLE experience. First, after placing an order for 2 U-Boxes to be loaded at the facility, the General Manager, Mike Walker, failed to recognize the correct number of boxes, so he only ordered one. First of all, this mistake should have never happened. The number of U-Boxes ordered is NOT a trivial detail. For a General Manager to make an error like this is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning. After Mike Walker admitted to making the mistake, he instructed me to drive about 15-20 minutes away to the U-Box of Rochester storage facility. He gave me very vague instructions about how my 2 U-Boxes would be all ready upon arriving. After asking for clarfication 3 times due to the unclear directions, he was very rude and clearly annoyed. Well, once my family and I arrived at U-Box of Rochester, we discovered that the storage facility is NEVER open on Saturdays. This was completely infuriating, especially for my family who had just driven 6 hours with a huge trailer filled with furniture. At U-Box of Rochester, we happened to run into the General Manager of that facility, Jason Sinclair, outside. Once he heard about our situation, he was very un-accommodating, and at one point Sinclair even said "We dont have any U-Boxes here!" Mind you, this is a U-Box storage facility packed with hundreds of them. After that we had to drive back to U-Haul of Henrietta, where another staff member attempted to assist me. While doing so, this staff member tried calling Mike Walker several times and he failed to even answer his phone. Clearly a sign of poor management. After 3 HOURS of frustration, 2 U-Boxes were finally ready and we had to drive another 20 minutes back to the storage facility. This experience was horrible, and the entire hassle and inconvenience could have been EASILY avoided if there had been more attention paid to a very, very basic detail on my order, and on behalf of the General Manager, nonetheless. I would never trust them to handle a more complex order, it didnt even need to be delivered!! This level of incompetence is completely unacceptable for a storage business that is literally across the street from a major university. I will absolutely be sure to tell every college student that I know to NOT use U-Haul of Henrietta. I will NEVER use their services again.

Signed up for a hitch install appointment. Email said "well be in touch to confirm your appointment time." No email came. I called at 9am the day of the appointment and they said it was scheduled at 7am. Came in later that day. Turns out they didnt have all the parts and theyd have to be overnighted. 3 days later they still didnt have the parts. I was schedule to leave for a camping trip on a Thursday. They called Wednesday and said the parts are in. Great. Just in time. Wait...nobody qualified to install the parts. Next appointment available is Friday. (The day after I was supposed to leave, and 6 days after missing parts were to be "overnighted.") When I showed up for my scheduled appointment at 9am, they told me the appointment was at 4pm. And they told me there was already a vehicle in the garage. The problem was the giant security screen over the gentlemans should clearly showed an empty garage. Frankly, it was one scheduling blunder after another. What should have been a 1 hour appointment dragged out to 3 visits over a week. Oh, one other thing... the lights didnt work when I plugged them into the trailer. I had a mechanic friend fix the grounding issue. Id complain to their corporate folks but im not sure how theyd even begin to tackle fixing the issues at this location. Spare yourself the headache and move on to someplace else if youre looking to have a hitch installed.

Received normal 10-foot truck. As we began driving it, the visor fell down in front of the view. I propped it back up, but continued driving had it falling down in front of me again on expressway. Tried to push it back up in slot, but it was extended out as if broken and cloth around pivot rail was stopping it from clicking back in slot. My wife who was with me tried to push it back in and couldnt. Distracted by the visor, I pushed it in to the side--at the height it was at it kept falling down and banging my head. When I got back after 2 hours I asked for a discount. The rep said no, call the main office, and was singing as he made out my bill. I called the head office which was sympathetic and they said theyd talk to the henrietta manager. He called me the next morning and kept insisting I should have brought it back. I told him I didnt discover it was a problem til we were out on the expressway, and he said when I discovered it I should have brought it back. He also told me there was no problem with it, the visor just needed to be clicked back in the slot. Myself and my wife objected on the phone and he just maintained I should have brought it back. At this point I told him look, Im just telling you so somebody doesnt sue you after an accident--keep the money--but Im just telling you what happened.

OVER CHARGED, RESERVATION NOT HONORED. Dont expect to pick up the truck where you reserve it. The two options for reserving make you think one option is guaranteed and the other isnt, but really neither are. Two days before I got a conformation text with the wrong location, 10 miles further away. And they still charge you per mile plus gas, so the extra 20 miles of driving cost about $40 more with gas and mileage charge. No sympathy from either location to wave the extra mileage charge and the Henrietta location employee I talked to was very rude. Never using Uhaul again! Horrible Customer Service! Beware the extra charges that add up quick, the "$39" truck with a total of 37 miles driven cost cost about $165 including gas.

Horrible, made an appointment to have a hitch installed and they were supposed to call an confirm when the hitch actually came in, they never called so I called them and got, "oh yeah we have that in stock we can install on Friday" (this was Tuesday), drop it off Friday at 7:30am come back at 5:20 to get it and the hitch isnt on, after waiting in line for 20 minutes I finally get to the counter to be told with gross indifference that they just didnt get to it, no reason as to why I wasnt called, no offer to complete the job that day, I could probably reschedule for mid next week what a jerk, they need to look up the definition of customer service, an apology instead of indifference would have gone a long way!

I called to inquire about a trailer hitch, and they needed my credit card to make the reservation. I didnt want to do that. I called back, and a different operator told me they no longer do that, and she made a reservation for 9:30 on a Sunday morning. i was told it would take an hour to install. I went to the shop and was told that they were jammed up with returns and pickups" and it would be at least an hour and a half before they could start. The shop had no waiting room, not even a chair, even if I DID want to wait. Whats the point of a reservation? Ill never even consider U-Haul for anything.
