I once took my volkswagen jetta here around two months back because I felt my brakes were experiencing a little more drag than usual that morning. Since it was concerning the brakes, I really didnt wanna take any chances and headed there first thing before going to work as he was the closest one to my workplace. Maybe my mistake taking a commuter car to a luxury mechanic. However the first thing that he did was take my car with me sitting beside him and drove the car ruthlessly on the road as if he were driving a sportscar in the name of checking my brakes. The very next thing he says is my front rotors need to be changed. When asked for the price I was quoted $450. Agreed that again its luxury car prices going by his claim of using only "German" parts and not cheap "chinese" or "Indian" parts as quoted by him to me seeing that I was Indian. Definitely not a good way to talk to a customer especially when he comes to your shop for the first time. Furthermore when requesting for some discount on the price he quoted, the guy sarcastically proceeded to suggest taking the car to the down the road skyland exxon repair shop where they would fit cheap "chinese" or "Indian" parts. Mind it this guy had the audacity to say this twice with a sarcastic smirk even though I had expressed a visible frustration the first time he said that. Worst he rounded off by suggesting I drive till my whole car shakes because of the rotors. All of this he said just because I had asked him for some discount citing that I was an international student and any discount would be very helpful. Sarcasm all the way. I had enough and just shook hands and left to the skyland exxon and after an hour of brake servicing the guy came out and told me everything was fine and that the brakes just needed to be bled costing me all but $15. And another independent mechanic who inspected my brakes after 3 days also said the same that everything about the brakes were fine. So all in all I donno how good Mr.Val is with his work but this surely was a disappointing experience. They may be the best around and people might love their work as evidenced by previous reviews. But he seriously needs a lesson or two on how to talk to customers and most especially on not to try and rip people off. Everyone one of us work hard for the money and this isnt the right attitude.

We bought a BMW 325ci three weeks ago and a week after driving it we started smelling oil from under the hood. The check engine light came on so I attempted to get an appointment at another foreign car shop but to no avail. So I went to the internet and found Val and Import Auto Performance. I took the car to him for a free consultation and he shared with me what was necessary to get the car back in great condition (including the 100,000 mile service). An appointment was made, I took the car in, he let me use a loaner car (I did not have to get a rental), and, yesterday, we drove our car home. He even showed me where the prior mechanic (Maiden, NC) had either cracked the valve cover or reinstalled a cracked valve cover. I was looking for someone who had the time to get to our difficult situation! I found him to be up front, relational, and honest. I will send my friends to IAP. Thank you, Val.

Absolutely the best Import Repair around. Val is awesome, his team is professional and gives great service. As a small, blonde female I am used to being treated like I have no clue about cars. Val does the opposite - he explains everything clearly, gives accurate estimates and obviously really cares about me and my Mini Cooper. I cannot recommend him more highly. Do you want everything in tip-top shape? Val can do that. He will take the time to explain *everything* to you so that you can make informed choices and prioritize your car maintenance and repairs, and plan for whats coming up in the future. The guy LOVES Mini Coopers. No Joke. Its possibly he treats all the cars in his shop like they are the best, most important vehicle he is working on, but I would not know. Great service, great work, and all with a smile. THANK YOU VAL.

I went in for an oil change that was done quickly and at a reasonable price. It was discovered during the oil change that I had a cracked drive belt that needed replacing. I was told the part could be ordered and installed the next day and was given a price. Due to my work schedule, I had only a short time available to be able to get the work done. Val told me that he could get the part installed within the time I had specified. I came in the following day at the time we had agreed upon, and work began immediatley. The new part was installed, and ready to go in less time that orginally estimated, and at a lower cost. I was very pleased with the work and the service. We will continue to use Import Auto Performance to service our Mini Cooper.

Ive never had an immediate trust like I did with Val at his shop. Our 2004 Volvo was disabled because a small plastic piece broke off the shifter. We were able to finally get into drive and took it to his shop. He made an adjustment that allowed us to drive the vehicle while we waited for the part to arrive. He fixed it quickly and efficiently and we were satisfied with the cost. We pointed out another broken piece of something under the hood. He quickly recognized it as a serious issue regarding our turbo. Again, fixed right and at a reasonable price. Great service, reliable and trustworthy. A family business that we should be lucky to have to fix our import cars.

Best shop in town. Im a used car dealer and have taken all my Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes here and wont stop anytime soon. I went to German Motor Werks to get e-brake cables fixed was told they can fix, then after sitting for 2 hours was told they dont have the tools to fix and wont buy the tools just to fix my car. As soon as I left them I gave VAL a call at import auto performance and by the end of the week my car was fixed and ready to go. I will never go back to dealership or any other independent shop as long as Import Auto Performance is around. Dont waste your time either going any where else. Give Import Auto Performance a try and you wont regret it.

I asked Val @ Import Auto Performance (IAP) to check over my 07 Subaru Impreza--Not a fancy car by any means--esp. for leaks or any brake work, & to please replace a bolt that had gone missing on a (skid or cover?) plate at the front undercarriage following a 450 mile drive. These guys were able to get my car in right away, & didnt find anything really wrong except the missing bolt (which is good cuz Id just had it worked on up in VA before driving back down to Asheville). Val didnt charge me a cent, & IAP Absolutely lives up to the good rep Id heard of! I am new to town, and know Ive found my go-to mechanics!
