I called for an appointment and was told that Melody would do a great job with highlights and cut. Excited about my appointment, I arrived on time only to wait 15 - 20 minutes, when Melody finally came to the lobby she told me that she was late because she had been eating (seriously, I could not make this up). I told her it was ok, and we sat down to discuss color - I have been getting blonde highlights for 15 years..pretty basic. Melody actually breaks out this board to put the hair on to brush on the bleach really, not kidding. I saw this technique back in the 80s and it is terrible because the color doesnt go all the way to the roots. Regardless, I didnt say anything about that wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt. This was absolutely my fault, I should have said something. She took forever to get the highlights in apparently the board also takes longer oh - and did I mention that I have to cut and hand her the foils - really, ! When she was finished with the foils she told me that she had another client coming in and that she would work her in while I processed. I have had stylists do that before, and while it isnt ideal - I understood. She then told me that the woman was coming back because she didnt like what Melody had done to her hair (starting to see a pattern here). Melody then placed me in a chair, NOT under a heater/dryer. I asked her why since I have always been under some kind of heat for processing, and she told me that if you dont use heat, the color lasts longer. OK, by this point - I am sure that I am on some kind of candid camera experiment, but I sat there for over 45 minutes while she worked in her previous mistake. The owner finally came over and shampooed out the color and foils, but no one ever put toner on the color - it was a disaster. She told me that it was tone down naturally in a few days or so. Really!! Again, could NOT make this up. I left the salon FOUR and a half hours later ...very disappointed. I went to another salon (hair color experts in Cary) the following week (5 days) for a blow out and the stylists said to me "so, looks like you had some color done 6-7 weeks ago". That is how much of the root didnt have color. I made an appointment at Hair Color Experts and the stylist there fixed my disaster (not cheap). Please dont make the same mistake I did - a very expensive one at that. Oh, and when I called to speak to a manager at Tanas I was told that he/she was cutting hair and would call me back and I never heard a word.

I have long very curly hair. I called ahead to see if someone specialized in curly hair. They listed a few people and said they had an appointment that weekend. I reiterated that I needed someone specific to curly hair, and they said that the stylist would be knowledgeable. I had Suzie as my hair stylist. She was very pleasant to talk to and very friendly, but unfortunately my hair cut was the worst Ive ever had. I hate to even write a review, because I dont want to cause trouble or make anyone feel bad, but I certainly dont want anyone with curly hair going in and having the same experience. My hair cut was comped without me even asking for it. It was about an inch and a half different lengths from one side to the next. It was several inches shorter than I wanted. It was cut at all different random lengths throughout my head. There was absolutely no shape to it. It was the essential "triangle head" in the front. She lacked experience with curly hair. I ended up having to go to a different salon today to get it "fixed." The new hair stylist was shocked at what my hair looked like. If you have curly hair, I suggest that you visit someone who knows what theyre doing. Unfortunately, Im not sure if I had straight hair if it wouldve been any better. Layers and lengths were all over the place - nothing symmetrical, and no shape. I really thought Tanas was a higher end salon and I was safe with any suggestions, but I wont visit Tanas again in the future.

Staff doesnt seem to be up on current trends - Take a quick look on Pinterest and you can easily guess what I asked for with my hair color. My color has been ruined twice now at Tanas - shame on me. The first hairdresser did corrective color which definitely fixed the problem, but didnt leave me with what I asked for. She left the company soon after I started going there, (I am new to the area) so I decided to try someone else at Tanas. I dared to ask for the look with my color again.. and, after going back for corrective color with yet a third hairdresser (the latter wasnt available to fix it), Im in the same boat as I was the first time. Lets just say Ive left there twice now looking like some variation of a skunk. They "fixed" it at no charge both times...but why cant I get what I ask for? I even brought in pictures I wanted them to match EXACTLY. I could have ruined my color myself for less than $20 vs. the $150 I paid after tip and all. On top of that, when I say I am growing my hair out, I know it is completely possible to freshen up the ends and not leave feeling I have substantial length missing. Maybe the talents of my previous hairdresser are harder to come by than I think - if only she wasnt 600 miles away. Anyway, I wont be going back to Tanas ...Back to hunt!

A friend recommended me to try out Tanas, and I am so glad I did! I had been neglecting getting my hair cut because of multiple bad experiences and haircuts at other salons, but after visiting Tanas and having the pleasure of being worked on by Rachel, my fear of bad haircuts is a thing of the past. Rachel is by far the best stylist that has ever cut my hair! I could tell that she genuinely cared about giving me the best cut possible and getting me looking sharp again. Most other salons I have been to seem to try to rush you through the process so they can move on to the next customer as fast as possible... Tamas is definitely a step about the rest with stylists like Rachel! I was so pleased with the haircut and level of service that I felt compelled to write this review (Which I typically never do.) and give her the recognition she deserves. I am very grateful to have met this talented and genuinely caring stylist, and look forward to seeing her again next time I need to trim! 5 Stars for Tanas and Rachel :)

OMG.. I WOULD NOT STEP FOOT HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WITH ANY OUNCE OF DIGNITY!! So we gifted a groupon to my sister for her upcoming wedding in Sep and apparently the place refused to honor it. Not only was the receptionist abusive and was almost at the verge of assaulting my sister " you are not walking out with out paying full price", uttering profanities that I have too much class to repeat. My sister ( totally shocked) was made to wait for 45 mins like a shoplifter while the lady who she had the appointment with came back to clarify that my sister had indeed prepaid for the service and later tried to offer free services to make up for the ridicule and insults. SHAME!
