Since I work from home, I never put more than 5000 miles on my car in a year, so I only get an oil change once a year at inspection time. Since 2011, I have taken my 2004 Volvo exclusively to this shop for inspections and oil changes. Prior to my last visit which was in May of 2015, everything was fine. After that visit, I started to notice oil spots on my garage floor, but since my car is now 12 years old I just thought it was probably a leaky gasket. As the months past, the oil spots became more of an issue, so I place a piece of cardboard under the engine to absorb it. Fast forward to this year. I needed to get my car inspected, but since I also needed new tires, I took my car to where I always buy tires. Then I went down the road to get a 4 wheel alignment at a different garage. While I was there, I asked them to also perform the inspection and oil change. I left my car, but soon got a call from them. They told me that when they pulled the oil plug, it was stripped and the oil pan was also stripped. They said that since it is aluminum it couldnt be fixed, and a new oil pan was needed at a cost of about $1100. I had them do the work. When I went back to Precision Tune Auto Care on Baileywick Road in North Raleigh to discuss my problem, they denied any responsibility and refused to cover any of the cost. There is absolutely no doubt that their tech stripped my oil plug; I hadnt brought the car anywhere else since 2011. Since I only have 100,000 miles on the car, the plug did not "wear out" as the manager told me I posted a negative review in BBB and YELP, and was contacted by Ronnie Merritt who is their Raleigh customer service representative. Ronnie stated they wanted to help me out, and asked me to send my invoice which I did. After not hearing from him for a couple of weeks, I sent him an email. Here is his response. "I apologize for any lack of contact. I am assuming by your email that you have yet to be contacted by my DM for the Raleigh area. In working with another customer from the same area, I just found out that our DM has been out for medical reasons for the past couple of weeks. I am very sorry I didnt inform you as I didnt know myself. I have brought this case to the attention of my company president for him to review. I regret to inform you that its his decision there is nothing that we can do for you. He is basing his decision on the amount of time that has passed since your last oil change service. Also, an engines oil pan is a wearable part in that removing and reinstalling the oil drain plug over so much time can and will cause the oil plug hole to wear out. This is caused by metal fatigue and weakening. I know this is not the answer you were looking for. Thanks so much for your patience in the matter. Again, I am sorry it so long to get some answers. If you have any more questions, please feel to contact me. I will try to answer them to the best of my ability." I understood that I didnt give them the chance to "fix it", but the issue was discovered by a different garage who advised me that it really needed to be replaced after they took it out. Please understand I have meticulous records for my car repairs, and I know with 100% certainty that they damaged that plug. They did insult me by offering a $100 shop voucher.

Ive utilized the Precision Tune Auto garage on Baileywick over the last couple years for oil changes, general maintenance, and state inspections and each experience has been fantastic. Their customer service is amazing and the work they do is timely! Each worker is sincere when they speak to you about costs and repairs--no tricks or games. My most recent car emergency brought me to their doors with only about ~30 minutes of their work day left. I told them about the concern I was having with my car and the manager on duty didnt think twice before he offered to check it out himself. When he realized that the issue would not correct itself and would require a more in-depth look he graciously told me hed get an available mechanic to open it on the spot. Unfortunately, everyone was already working on vehicles, but the manager devised a way for my car to be taken care of first thing the following morning. This required me to leave my car and would have made be rely on calling a cab for transportation back to my house. I didnt even bring this to his attention (knowing Id worry about calling a cab on my own). Sympathetic to my plight he kindly volunteered to drive me home in my car, and return to the garage with it so it could be repaired when they opened the following day. They showed me that they truly care about their customers and for that theyll continue to have my business and that of my family for years to come.

The service was prompt and courteous on the day of the oil change. The next day I had issues with the vehicle not shifting gears and jerking while driving on the interstate. This is also the second time that I have had my car serviced here and had issues immediately following the service. I came back the next day after calling ahead and had the tech that serviced it Check the car and test drive it. The tech told the front associate that everything was fine. I got no further than a half mile only to have the same jerking issue. I returned to the store and asked that the tech, Mr. Wille, drive it with me. He knew that the car was not shifting gears as he drove it with me in the car. As I returned with the tech, the associate pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and if I was to bring it in the morning, Saturday, that there would be a long wait for a lead tech to look at my car. I did return on Saturday and the manager was refusing to even address the issue. Im a highly suspicious that the tech mixed oil in with transmission fluid, which would cause jerking. The manger, Gerald was very offensive and guarded and refused to even drain the oil or transmission fluid. He basically blamed it on the age of the car eventhough this problem happened after my car was serviced here. Im sorry that this location does not take pride in there work especially in regards to being professional.

It pains me to write this, because I used to love this place, but it seems to have gone downhill since its recent change of ownership. My wife took her van to get the brakes looked at because they were making a scraping sound, and ended up having to get the front pads and rotors replaced to the tune of $450. The installation seemed to go fine, but after a few days my wife noticed that the new brakes were still making noise. We took the van back in to get the brakes looked at again, and the mechanic told us everything was fine, and he couldnt hear anything. After a few more days the brakes started scraping even worse than the old ones did. I called Precision Tune, and was told by the manager to bring the van in and theyd change the brake pads again, which would take about an hour. My wife brought the van in for the third time first thing next morning. The manager told her she was a priority, but it somehow still took them two hours to change the pads while my wife sat in the waiting room with a fussy toddler. As I said before, I used to love this place. I even wrote a 5-star review. But, I think Im going to have to look for a new mechanic. Having to bring a vehicle in 3 times for the same problem is ridiculous, especially for something as comparatively simple as brakes. Despite what the manager said, I dont feel like we were a priority at all.
