Went in for a state inspection and tire rotation. Mechanic couldnt get my lug nuts off without my sockets, and his gun wouldnt reach to loosen the lugs. I told him Id do it myself because I have unusual wheels. After I loosened all the lug nuts myself he rotated the tires. Only thing wrong inspection-wise was that one of my back brake lights was out. This happens a lot, so I keep spare bulbs in the truck and change it out myself: unscrew two bolts, take off the casing, and pop in the new bulb. Takes about 30 seconds. I gave the mechanic the bulb, and he unscrewed the two bolts and put the new bulb in. Told me Id just saved myself some money by having my own bulb. Before the manager handed me the bill he tried to sell me an air filter, transmission flush, coolant flush, and a bunch of other things recommended at this mileage. I said no thanks, as I can do those things myself. When the manager hands me the bill there was an $8 labor charge for the bulb installation. I asked him why this was there since I was standing right next to the mechanic when he did it and was never told that it would cost me $8 to change a bulb that I change myself several times a year. The manager offered to charge me $4, but I suggested $0. He then asked the mechanic if I had been informed of the labor charge and the mechanic said I had. This was an outright lie. Id been talking to the mechanic throughout the inspection, and he knew damn well that I could change a bulb myself. I was never told that it would cost me any money for him to "install" the bulb, nor was I given the option to do it myself. The manager apologized for the communication breakdown, and told me that usually customers talk to him, rather than the mechanic, about work to be performed on their vehicles. Nevertheless, he refused to charge me anything less than $4. I understand that all repair stations offer to perform services during inspections of vehicles -- this is how they generate business. But what I cant understand is why getting $4 from me through deceptive means is worth losing my business and having this negative review published on Google.

Consumers beware: the Holiday Exxon in Charlottesville, VA is a fraudulent and corrupted establishment owned by one of the most incompetent, deceitful, and conniving men. In my brief encounter with the owner of the Holiday Exxon, I immediately was turned off by the fact that he was entirely self absorbed in his little world of trying to cheat his customers and rip them off as much as possible. I came in for a simple oil change, expecting to pay around $20. Instead, I was bombarded with an entire list of things that needed to be changed for my car, accompanied with a bill for over $100. On top of that, the owner was relentless in his pursuit to have me come back in a few weeks to get “other things” fixed with my car. I brought my car to another service center the next week to get a second opinion and they said my car was just fine. Sorry, Mr. Holiday Exxon owner—your foolish attempts to take advantage of this customer was an epic fail. To sum it up, the facility was filthy, the service was shoddy, and the owner was vilely unprofessional, unethical, and utterly disappointing. This was the most amateur and disgustingly horrible experience I’ve ever had with an automotive service center. I highly recommend you stay away from this place. You can’t expect quality customer service when the owner can’t even deliver himself as a reliable and trustworthy person. An owner of an establishment is the representative symbol of what a business is. From this experience with the Holiday Exxon owner, I would say this service center is a load of crap.

Disappointed with the lack of professionalism and transparency. I do not feel like these guys were trust worthy or even cared about my car. There is no clean waiting room. You have to sit outside of the store assuming there is a dirty sit available. The tall mechanic who spoke to me was difficult to understand. I had to ask him to repeat himself multiple times and still did not understand his English well. Then he argued with me about my windshield wipers needing to be fixed when they were just repaired 2 weeks ago. Finally he conceded that only one needed to repair. He also told me that I needed to change my exhaust when Jiffy Lube recently told me that the leak was so minimal that I did not need to change it. To top it off he told me he couldnt remove my tire hood cap to check my brakes but that with his light he could see the brakes were low. Then he said he would fix my exhaust and windshield wiper, but still had to fail my car for safety inspection due to a repair he could not do. The office lady could not answer my questions either when I attempted to get clarification.

I would not recommend this place. Was a loyal customer for years, and found out quite by accident by another service center my car had not been sufficiently maintained, so my safety had been compromised. There were parts unbeknownst to me that had been installed backwards, after market parts installed, when I thought I had paid for new, and therefore, same parts had to be replaced again in an unreasonable time frame. Service that had been done by Holiday Exxon, such as, replace leaking valve gasket( an expensive service) had to be redone by another place. I wrote to the owner, as he knows me, about my findings, and I never heard a word from him; this inflamed my distrust of the business. I contacted Better Business, and disclosed my dissatisfaction. BB told me they e-mailed Holiday Exxon about my complaints, and received no response from Holiday Exxon. All the repairs to correct the mistakes Holiday Exxon did totaled over $1,000. Ruined my Christmas! Do not go there. Owner in dishonest, craftsmanship is substandard, place is filthy.

I saw this store got pretty good reviews on google, so I decided to try it out. It turns out that this is the WORST experience Ive ever have. My car has a power problem, but they checked my transmission without asking me and saying anything about the price, finally, they charged me $180 dollars for transmission inspection and $56 dollars for alternator inspection. As I checked later, the transmission inspection costs less than $100 even at a dealer, and the alternator inspection, you know what? Its free in other places. After all, nothing is fixed, they havent even figured out what the problems. $270 as the total, what do you think? I heard from another friend that to tight a screw, they asked for 3 hours labor. Now I have no idea why this shop has such a good review on google, but maybe this store was good before. I was there October 2015, for your reference. I will never go to this store again, and I sincerely suggest you to avoid this one.

I was in Charlottesville for a day’s visit---120 miles from home---when my car began to make strange noises. Not knowing anyone in town, I found the Holiday Exxon Service online, and went there because of the good reviews and because they were open early on Saturday. I had to drive back home the same day and needed the car fixed in order to do so. The mechanic in charge checked it almost right away. He showed me and explained what was wrong with the car (a bent axle). It wasn’t possible to fix it that day because he would not be able to get the part until Tuesday. Since the car was still drivable despite the noise, I thanked him and went on home. In all, he took about half an hour of his time to test-drive the car, lift it, and diagnose what was wrong with it---and charged me nothing because he wasnt able to help me that day. Prompt and honest service like that is hard to find. Holiday Exxon Service deserves all the good reviews it receives.
