Read full review- After receiving a referral to take my project truck to Amherst Tuffy I was taken back by how things went down. First, I spoke with Mike on the phone; he was cordial and kind when I called so I scheduled an appointment with them after telling him “exactly” what I wanted. After our conversation and since they needed to see what I wanted done to possibly get parts I stopped in while running errands. My truck was pulled into a bay and put on a rack to lift and see under the truck. Then at the same time Mike was walking out to the bay, a tech named Tony was quite boisterous talking about my truck negatively in regard to starting a fire or something to that regard. At this time I got a feeling that didn’t set well. My initial thought is you don’t say things like that about customer’s vehicles especially at such an audible level. It made me feel like I was at a craigslist ship not a Tuffy. However at the time I decided to keep my mouth shut and overlooked the comment to see where things went next. Mike then asked me if I could accompany him to the bay to discuss their thoughts/opinions. We looked at the exhaust and I was then told that what I wanted could be done but was difficult…. I wanted a flange welded where my BRAND NEW exhaust had been cut for my transmission to be installed and I was unhappy with how it looked. The response was impressive from a shop that I am presenting an open checkbook to. They told me that it was fine and didn’t need changed. I again expressed my discontent with the transmission shop repair and again it was ignored. I then bluntly asked how much it would cost if I want the repair done. Tony tells me 200$ without a thought behind it..... for a gasket, 4 bolts and 2 weld in brackets. I have no issue paying this but it was shot from the hip and was clearly NOT something he wanted to do. What happened next is why I will NEVER take a car to this shop. After explaining the importance of my truck ( not expressing how much money I already have invested in it, or how much more I am and will continue to spend) Tony looks up under my vehicle and says ”there’s rust all under the body panels and a filler, followed with a comment along the lines of it is what it is……No Tony!!! It is not! I’ve spend over 10k on performance parts, replacement parts, solid oak roof and body, suspension and many other parts. Any real car guy should know that you do the body last so its not damaged during other work. At the end of the day I was there looking for professional work that would fix my dissatisfaction with my exhaust. As a business person this was unacceptable, its directing sales away and this type of attitude will surely lead customers away. Cars are important to some people and I am one of those people that enjoy building custom cars… repetitively! Tony you just lost a customer that wants great service, quality work and most of all is WILLING TO PAY FOR IT without hassle. My advice if you are in this area: go find a Midas and have a chance at fair or better service. Make your money count and get EXACTLY what you want. Its business!

I went in for some minor repairs and was told that one of my struts were bad. I decided to trust them and allowed them to replace it. Afterwards I continued to hear the same noise in the front end so I went back, several times, over several months explaining something wasn’t right. Once, I was told that they didn’t tighten something down, next I was told, “it’s probably the tires” and then I was told, “it could be ice that’s causing the noise”. Out of disbelief and curiosity I finally went to another nation wide auto shop and was told that Tuffy did in fact put a strut in however, they did not use any of the other parts that came with the strut kit. Go figure. They (the other shop) were very surprised and explained that they get many customers that are displeased with the service from these guys and they also questioned this company’s integrity.

We were driving through town on a late Monday afternoon when we experienced an unexpected flat and faulty spare. We were a bit concerned that everything might be closing and that this could mean that we would be stuck in town until the following day - at a minimum. To our pleasant and grateful surprise, we were towed to the Tuffy Amherst shop and repaired faster than either my wife or I could believe. In the end, we had a more serious problem that required that both rear tires be replaced and a new valve put onto our spare. The guys were all great, very informative, and helpful. Would definitely recommend and return if we lived closer. Thanks again guys, my wife, I, and our four children definitely appreciated what you did for us, and the minivan, as you had predicted, drives like new again. All the best, The Rohde Family

George and his crew have impressed me since day one. I have never felt more welcomed at an auto repair shop! They greet me by name when I walk in, and go above and beyond every visit. When I need a repair, they physically show me the part or item that is the problem, instead of just telling me. They are fair and honest, and will call around to find the best price possible. And they take care of their customers. They remember my odd work hours, and will work around them. They ask about my family. Once they got me lunch when they were going. I went to another place in my former town for YEARS and never received such excellent customer service!

We were on vacation and our van died on the turnpike. It was 230PM the Saturday before Easter we had just been towed to Tuffys from the Turnpike. I envisioned spending several days in Amhurst, and losing our money on the hotels we booked. However, the Tuffy team got us in & out within an hour and a half. The kids watched a shop supplied video. The atmospjhere was very relaxing in comparison to sitting on the side of the freeway. It seemed we waited longer for the tow truck than for the repair. Vacation rescued! Great customer service. Out and traveling again by 4PM:) Thanks Tuffy team...

We were headed to a wedding in MD from West MI and our serpentine belt went out on the Ohio Turnpike. It was 3pm on a Saturday (wedding was next day) the only shop open was Tuffys. From start to finish the manager Aaron was so helpful, the guys stayed after closing to fix our car without one complaint. They really cared about our predicament and if they hadnt had stayed open a little longer we wouldve missed my cousins wedding, been stuck trying to find a hotel etc. These guys went above and beyond, seriously impressed and grateful! Thanks again!

On a Friday afternoon driving cross-country, I ended up with a flat tire. The tow company recommended Tuffy Tire, and Im glad they did. The team was quick to understand my situation, took a look at my car, talked me through my options, ordered needed parts to be delivered soon, and had me on my way before the close of business. Im very grateful! If I lived in the area, Tuffys where Id go.
