I have been a customer at the Security Self Storage location in Westlake since before its actual opening. The amenities offered by this facility were readily apparent. And you cannot beat the added benefit of the convenient location for Westlake, Bay, Avon and Avon Lake residents or businesses. I will not tout those strengths that can be gleaned for a quick review of the companys website. Instead, I will use this review to point out something to which only a longtime customer can speak - relationship. The owners of Security Self Storage initially encouraged me as I took the brave step of starting my own home-based business. They assured me that they would do whatever they could to support me in the endeavor, e.g., receiving and securing packages delivered to the site, providing a clean and technologically equipped off-site meeting space for my business, offering the use of the facilitys truck as I converted our home library into my office space. Perhaps none of this comes as a surprise. But when a serious illness struck, these same persons, who had previously only been involved in a business relationship, became my friends and supporters. I was granted the use of their own staff members as I made additional changes inside my home. The office staff greeted me with genuine compassion each time I came to the facility. It was nothing to hear -- "How are you doing? Im going to continue to pray for you. Let me know if there is ANYTHING that we can do to help you." WOW!! Even upper management went above and beyond. Karen sent me numerous e-mails, encouraging me and inquiring into my health. Every time I achieved a milestone, i.e., completed a surgery or procedure, I would respond to an e-mail already sitting in my inbox and let Karen know how I was progressing. I still have her e-mails saved on my computer in the special folder I titled "And so it begins . . . ." Anyone who has ever gone through such an experience knows the real value of moral support in a fight. I received it in large measure. And I was simply a unit owner, nothing more before all of this. Throughout my lengthy tenure, I have seen many owners come into the facility. Some are coming on the heels of a divorce. Some are coming on the heels of having moved aging or declining parents into residential facilities. Some are coming on the heels of a failed business venture. You never know the full story. But what I do know is that I always think to myself that they are in the right place because no matter what the circumstance -- storing an expensive wine collection, relocating, home remodeling project, son or daughter back from college, the excitement of a new business -- these people genuinely care about others. And for me that has made all the difference! I will remain a loyal Security Self Storage client based upon my great experience and the superlative facility.

Not happy with this facility before I even sign up with them. I was told over the phone that I can see the unit before I rent, having already discussed rates. I took time off work to visit the facility within the agreed upon time frame. The man at the front desk took one look at me (Im black) and decided he was going to make renting difficult for me. He told me they are totally booked. So, he has to put me on a list. In addition to that, he cant show me the units because they are booked. None of this information was communicated to me over the phone from just 2 days ago. I walked out not wanting to deal with Security Self Storage ever again. Im not insinuating that the man is racist but just stating the facts.

I would recommend that you are very careful in doing business with the owner of this facility, Norman Kotach. He not only doesnt honor his quotes, but then he threatened to fire his associate for the quote offered the previous day while in my presence. When I tried to negotiate a fair compromise he once again was disingenious, argumentative, and totally unprofessional. I took my business to Uncle Bobs Self Storage in Avon, Oh. I rented the same size unit for more days at a lower price with no 1 month minimum and was thanked for my business. I will store my car with Uncle Bobs this winter. I would not recommend dealing with Mr. Kotach.
