PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY: RESPECTFUL, HONEST AND FAIR, AND AN OUTSTANDING MECHANIC!! Most of the time when I use a service or go to a place that has 5 star reviews, I usually end up baffled as to how they achieved a perfect rating. Desperate for a mechanic and having no ideas of where to go, I decided to try J&S Automotive and they deserve every 5 star rating received. I am a female and going to a mechanic is a nightmare. Either the mechanic is condescending and treats you as if you are stupid or they just dismiss you altogether. I have also found that I am usually charged higher prices for less quality work. Very frustrating. Jon is the mechanic for women. He adores his wife, Shelly -the S in the J&S, and equally respects her as a professional in the car business. He is so proud of her and his treatment of female customers is reflected from the respect he has for his wife. He listened to me, explained how he was going to approach the issues with the car, and then he actually showed me some sample brake parts and described what he thought the problem was with the car and how he would fix it! He explained the work to me-- treating me with respect and involving me in the process. I was impressed and it only grew as the day went on. Jon is definitely the MOST FAIR AND HONEST mechanic I have ever met. A mechanic with integrity-- before meeting Jon, I thought that was an oxymoron. He gave me an estimate of the anticipated costs, which was right on, if not a bit lower, than what I had researched on my own. To further assist customers in fair costs, he does his work in steps and in order of priority. He saved me $90 by doing the work in steps and seeing if the first step worked before having to move on to the next. Finally, Jon is an excellent mechanic. I was given the car 6 months earlier and the brakes made horrible sounds. I took it in to three places that said there was dust on the brakes and pads needed to be fixed. Screeching was a tad less, but still pretty bad. Then three months after having the car, the brakes went out completely. I was lucky to be going about 10 miles an hour and was able to run the car up on the side of a curb. So, had the car towed to a dealership that was recommended and paid over $1000 for a brake overhaul. After all that, it still screeched, so I took it in. The mechanics said it was no big deal-- just a thing the car does. Over the past 2 months, the screeching had gotten so bad. It was almost unbearable to drive-- so embarrassing. This is when I decided to try J&S Automotive. Jon zeroed in on the real problem...there was leaking on my back brakes. (Which would have eventually caused the brakes to fail and I dont know if I would have been lucky again to be driving 10 miles an hour.) Ever since leaving J&S a week ago, not a peep. They are so quiet and work perfectly. The whole car is running like a dream-- and its a 10 year old Saturn! So, dont hesitate to go see Jon at J&S Automotive where you will get extraordinary service by a mechanic who is respectful and fair. Oh, he is also friendly with a good sense of humor to boot!! Thank you, Jon!!!!

Edit #2: Despite my warranty having expired a few weeks ago, they still did their best to negotiate with their seller and was able to replace mine free of charge. They have their customers best interest in mind and I would highly recommend their service. As you can tell, customer service has to be good to have someone change a 1-star review to a 4-star and eventually a 5-star review in the end. If you need vehicle repairs, go to J&S. The two that helped me specifically was Jon and Phil. Edited: I talked to two of the individuals at J&S and there seems to be a miscommunication between the two of us. Toyota took a look at my vehicle and over-exaggerated the issues with my vehicle. I appreciate the rating scale that they use to address an issue (1 being not important, 10 being a huge concern) which would help consumers make informed decisions whether or not they need to have it fixed (since we may not be able to afford to fix everything). J&S is currently looking over some of the old issues + current issues that arose and I may change this to 5 stars depending on how that turns out. OLD POST: I was introduced to the shop by my friend who had visited the shop 3 times before with great results. As my friend and I talked to Steve, we became very frustrated as it was easy to see that it was all about money to them. Other shops have allowed us to use the scanner ourselves, however, Steve laughed and said that we wouldnt know what we were doing and we can just go purchase one on our own for $1000. After the work was done, we went up to Steve and asked if he came across anything else during the diagnostic test. He laughed and made a "show-me-the-money" sign with his fingers and said that we would have to pay him more. If I already paid $93 for them to just look at the car and politely asked them if they encountered anything else of interest that I may need to know, I dont want to be talked down to and asked to be pay more money for me to know this knowledge. After a few days later, I discussed with a friend (who was a mechanic) to look at my vehicle and see whether or not the price was reasonable. He told me that I was scammed and that I should have brought it to someone else instead.

I am a teacher and on spring break I used my time to do some preventative maintenance - namely a big job, a timing belt replacement on my 1999 Rav Four. My car is low mileage for its age so I felt this way was the most cost effective because timing belts are not cheap. I went to several places and someone gave me their card from a gas station, and so I went there. I had a noise that every other mechanic said was something else (in my fan) and Phil, the front office person, said it was simply that my vent wasnt open. OMG. That sold me. I met the owner, John, and he was also very good in letting me see under my car and telling me the whole process of it. They did it in one day as I needed it back for work the following Monday and they made it happen. I am very impressed with their integrity, fair pricing, willing to check and triple check, honesty (yes, truly it exists) and I got a bunch of their cards to pass out and already have! Its like looking for a doctor, in a way. All about spending the time, treating the customer with respect, and updating. I highly recommend them and I now have a new mechanic! I will use them in the future! GOOD JOB!!!! FIVE STARS CATHY

*Amazing shop* I have an older car with its fair share of problems. Well something went wrong and it broke down on me. I called around, even though with only one review online I called up J&S. Through speaking to John ,I believe, he sounded nice enough and strait forward enough for me to decide to take my car there. I had already started trouble shooting and changing some parts, but couldnt finish. Included in his diagnostic fee reconnected my fuel filter which I was unable to replace. Later that day I had a call from Jon informing me that the problem was with my timing belt. Told me what it would run. Even though had other cars to work on I had a car surprisingly early the next day telling me to come get my vehicle. When I got there Jon took me through exactly what happened, what could have gone worse, and kind of a comprehensive "run-down" of what was going on with my car. Made me understand what was going on (Im car illiterate) and what to expect. Will Give referrals and his number out as well as take my car there for all future problems. Resounding A+!
