The club facilities are fair, but the policies are not as family oriented as they would like you to believe. The new club policy is permissive of inappropriate conduct by their employees. They do nothing to discourage sexual relations between trainers/teachers and married club members, even when brought to their attention. If you are looking to hide some infidelity, then this is your gym. I cancelled family membership as I will not expose our family to the debauchery that goes on in HFAC, even with "new" ownership. You have been warned. Update: [In response to "perfect club for young families" post] HFAC is only perfect for families if you are willing to accept that your family will be exposed to club staff that actively engages in adulterous behavior, at that club, with management turning a blind eye. This people and story are real. Infidelity ruins families [in this case with young children who attended many events there] and HFAC is not willing to address disdainful behavior by its employee(s) with a history of perpetuating adultery with married members . Very sad, but very true.

I almost didnt come here because of the negative reviews, but Im very glad I gave it a try anyhow! I like this place so much that I joined even though I can work out for free at my apartment or at my job. Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club has to be the BEST health club Ive ever been to. I have to do physical therapy several times a week, and theyve got all the equipment I need, including an arm bike. Ive never seen those in any other gym. The indoor track is very nice, and theyve got tons of weight machines. I havent had to wait to use anything. I LOVE doing cardio here. Every machine is hooked up to a little TV, so you can watch whatever you want while you work out. The staff has been extremely helpful, friendly, and approachable. Im seriously so excited about this place I called my dad to tell him about it. Im probably going to spend most of my free time here this summer. Locker rooms are great, too, and theyve got unisex restrooms by the cardio stuff. I definitely recommend Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club.

Never have your swim meet here! This was probably the most chaotic disorganized event Ive ever taken part in. The heat list that theyd apparently written up the night before was completely wrong. As a result, there were constant changes and several kids missed their races. Then they started doing extra heats as makeups. I was timing and when I kept having to ask who was racing in my lane, at one point during one of those makeups they told me not to worry about timing them because it didnt matter. What? About 1/3 of the way through I left because my 5-year-old daughter had missed her first heat due to the chaos and was told to race with the boys, all as shes in tears. It was her first meet of the year and rather than being fun, the whole thing was ruined for her. I had to pull her out of the pool halfway through her first event because she was confused and in tears. We didnt do her other two events. We just left. Nicely done, Hawthorn Farms.

When I had purchased my membership they had told me I would be able to visit any of the Fitlife gyms for free. I travel to Bend, Or 3 months of the year and had asked specificly if I would be able to go there free and the sales rep Molia told me yes. When I went to Bend Athletic Club they told me I would get a discount but it would still cost $7 each visit. This made me upset because my sales rep told me it would be free and I was already paying $120/mo to Hawthorne Farms. When I had called Hawthorne Farms and spoken with Chad Warnicke he told me that sorry for the misinformation but there wasnt anything he could do. He told me if I wanted to cancel my membership I would have to still pay $350 to terminate it. I asked him about the misinformationa and he said sorry but there is nothing I can do for you. I would recommend this club to anyone. This is a shady business that doesnt stand behind there words.

Its the perfect gym for families with kids in he "tween" range - too old to be in childcare and too young to be at a "real" gym. My kids are athletic and active, but still have no business around the weights part, but there is plenty of activity elsewhere in the gym and TVs for when they need downtime. They have wifi and a cafe, so if you need to get some work done its a perfect place to have the kids burn some energy while you work. The staff is also so good with kids! Were regulars, and they know all 4 of us by name - depending on who is working the front desk I dont even have to sign in! And their swimming program is phenomenal! I only docked a star because, while improving, the weight room is still lacking. So many machines and not enough free weights; another squat rack would be brilliant. At peak times that corner turns frustratingly busy.

Nice atmosphere, equipment, fitness classes...I especially like their small indoor track which runs along the upper level above the basket ball courts. They have raquet ball rooms and a nice indoor pool (and an outdoor pool during the summer, though usually there are just kids and family in it). The Zumba teacher, Nicole, is excellent! Unfortunately the front staff are not very nice sometimes and is sometimes rude. A week pass is $25 and apparently they do not let you purchase a day pass unless you are WITH (physically standing with you) a member for $10. Clearly they would be making money off of these day passes regardless, so Im not sure why they dont offer them. Maybe their membership management staff is not very bright.

I have been a member since the club first opened, when my sister and I joined. HFAC is super clean, with superb staff. We joined when our daughters were young because they could swim while we worked out. What other clubs offer that kind of service? When they didnt want to swim they stayed in the fabulous day-care facility. The cousins learned how to swim while playing in the pools. They are grown and gone on with their lives now! I love the group exercise classes and the treadmills with cable TV. Most of the group classes are not overcrowded. I love the Les Mills Body Pump and Step classes and the instructors are very experienced - and FUN! It is pricey, but you get what you pay for!

Anyone who would say this club has gone down since the new owners took over needs to have their head examined. The club was in decline under the ownership of Sam Adams and the finance company that took it over from him following his debt default. The club is now operated by the original people who built and opened it. It is clean and maintained with a full compliment of equipment and activities. Locker rooms well supplied. Snack bar/Cafe with healthy food and snacks. This is a great club for families and individuals as well. I have been a member since the original opening of the facility and have never been more pleased with the club.

Dont try to cancel, they dont want that and say theres a policy that you have to pay an extra month. Even though you are month to month and the original owners you signed on with dont own it anymore. Good thing I saved my contract. No compensation when they close their doors for over a month between owners. Good for family but not a whole lot of equipment. Dont go on a swim lesson night to sit in the hottub, it will be filled with kids and no adult supervision. Nice track and friendly welcome. Expensive compared to others. Towels provided is nice, not a bunch of muscle heads looking for dates so good family environment. Medium cleanliness.
