Just went to sign up at my local Planet Fitness in Lacey, WA - The girl at the desk, who was very nice, asked if I had brought a bank statement with me. I said "No maam - I just want to use the gym for a month or two, not a mortgage." She stated they required complete bank information, account number and routing number to sign up, and they would ACH my banking account each month. I asked to pay in cash and was told that they could not accept cash or debit cards...What? As a retired Army Green Beret, husband, and father of three - I am highly disappointed that Planet Fitness as a corporation has chosen to make it so difficult for service members and the hard working people of America to sign up for a membership to their gym. Is Planet Fitness truly going out of their way to do what is best for their customers, or are they doing what is best for their corporate P&L? Additionally, if the U.S. Government cannot keep our citizens and service members security clearances and personal/financial information safeguarded against hackers, what makes anyone believe that Planet Fitness can do it any better? I like the whole "no judgement" concept, but PF you are judging people before they even walk through your doors! CEO Planet Fitness - Have you read the E-Myth? 7-Habits? Do you know who your customers really are? Do you even care? Did the founder of PF say, yeah lets open this great gym, it will be no pressure, non-judgemental, all the equipment will be purple, but we are only going to let in people who are willing to give us their banking info join...? Man I hope not... Want memberships and profits to go up? Make PF the EASIEST and most user friendly gym on the PLANET! #peoplebeforeprofits

This is the closest place to a perfect gym IMO. Its not without some annoyances, but those can be easily overshadowed by PFs awesomeness. For starters, membership is ridiculously cheap when compared to other popular gyms. Im a Black Card member (top-tier), which is a $20/month year long membership with benefits that pay for themselves within the first few weeks. Theres an early termination fee of $58 (dont quote me) if need be, but I seriously doubt you will want to cancel. The Black Card pays for its self via the Relaxation Zone. The Hydromessage chairs (my fav) can significantly reduce muscle soreness that comes on from an intense workout. Total Body Enhancement is cool, too. Personally, not a fan of tanning beds, but theyre there as well. So here are my personal gripes with this near perfect gym. First off, too many signs with their "no gym-intimidation" motto everywhere. Maybe it actually helps newbie gym goers, I personally, find it annoying how superfluous these signs appear. "Judgemnet free", "no ego", "no Hurks"; its all over the machines and the walls... oh and everything has an intense purple and yellow theme. I can ignore this, it just bugged me in the beginning. Secondly, as someone who primarily lifts weights, I feel theres an imbalance between cardio and weight equipment. If I go during their busy hours, it can be difficult to find my desirable weight equipment. Forces me to constantly change up my routine and avoid 4-8, Mon-Wed. In comparison, there will always be an open treadmill or elliptical somewhere. I could praise PF more, but this review is getting long and ranty. My gripes are minor, but may be applicable to certain people. Check them out. 5/5!!!

I have been a member of many different gyms and work out regularly. We just moved here from out of state and are looking for a gym here. First of all, any other gym we have visited in the area has provided a week trial pass to see if it would be a good fit. We were allowed to workout ONCE, but only after a twenty some minute tour, sales pitch and no less than six signatures on multiple forms. A little overboard. I understand the concept they are trying for with a non-judgmental atmosphere but I have never felt so uncomfortable at ANY gym as I did at my workout here. The extra amenities are nice and it is very clean here, but the many "rules" about attire, behavior and workout areas make it extremely intimidating and Im not one to be intimidated at a gym. I felt like the staff was watching everyone in the weight lifting area very closely to make sure they were following every strict rule they had and I was approached by more men in a vulgar way here than I have ever been at any other gym. If you strictly like cardio equipment, this place is great as they have plenty and you can peacefully workout that way but the rest of the gym is an unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere.

Ive been to four planet fitness locations, and Laceys is far and away the best- (actually is open 24hrs) its new and in great shape. much larger, and has four hydro massage beds/chairs along with two regular massage chairs (for black card members)and you dont even need your own lock for a locker. I dont use the tanning beds because of skin cancer/rapid aging, but if you want to get really old fast they are available! Lol. It has a huge array of television screens if you want to catch that mariners game, fox or CNN etc while doing 20 miles on elipticals, stair climbers treadmills, exer-cyles. It has ample weight machines and a special area for abs- maybe the free weights section could be a little larger as its often the most crowded. I agree with another reviewer that Yoga classes would be an awesome addition, but all in all this place is an excellent value for the money.

Went in today for my first workout at Planet Fitness at 9pm. The front desk was very professional and polite and walked me around and gave me a tour of the new gym. I then went to my workout which was awesome!there were plenty of open machines and lots of cleaning supplies near by to wipe down your equipment when your done. I finished my workout and then tried out the tanning bed. I optd into the stand up bed which was great!! Then the GM Nick and the front desk gentleman told me about the hydro massage and massage chairs that were part of my membership as well. Wow. I tried the lay down hydromassage and holy moly its amazing!! Made my body super relaxed especially after a hard workout. And the massage chair was awesome too!! Huge gym. Great staff. Great value. Best 20 bucks a month Ive ever spent. Will be back almost everyday.

This is a great facility! It is always clean and has a great atmosphere that offers comfort and inspires confidence for people wanting to get in better shape. The machines and equipment are of excellent quality and they have TVs that connect directly to the cardio machines so that you can enjoy sports, news, HGTV, and many other channels while you burn those pesky calories! The staff members are very friendly and enthusiastic, and they are always helpful if you have questions or need something. Plus, the price is $10 a month- cant beat that! If youre looking for a new facility with great perks and an even better price tag, this is the place to go!

My wife and I both joined under the standard $10 per month plan, then we tried the water massage loungers and beds! I have Sacroiliitis and degenerative disk after 20 years of Military Service and these beds do wonders so we immediately upgraded to the Black Card. Tried the Total Body Enhancement-Red Light Therapy and that was fantastic as well... Gym Membership, unlimited massage, unlimited tanning, and Total Enhancement all for $20 per month! Well worth it! The staff has been extremely friendly and love the No Intimidation attitude.
