i want to give this place a good review considering the people were so nice but my experience was awful there. i decided to go to this salon because their website and the salon name sound professional- well go figure all that marketing worked on my psyche. anw, the hairstylist i had was very nice but shes young- forget her name- think its Lindsey or something. She just came back from Santa Barbara university in CA to Beaverton and decided to work again at the salon. When i walked in the place, it was different than what i expected from the website and name. They paint the place more retro color, with furnitures looking like that too. Basicly it looks pretty cool with different being different, but def. not high-end salon at all for the price theyre charging for a cut. Anyw, when i was introduced to my stylist, I didnt have a good feeling when i saw/talk to her, had the impression like she doesnt have extensive experience but i told myself not to judge and i could be wrong. And let me say that 8 out of 10 times i meet a stylist and whatever feeling/impression i get, ive been right on. So listen to your instince and make an excuse to leave if you dont feel comfortable. I actually thought about it at that moment but i didnt do it. So she first shampoo then blow dry my hair fully dry, then use a straighten iron then proceed to cut my hair. i was uneasy right then because i never had anyone cut my hair dry before. i asked if thats common-me trying to be polite- and she said yes and she prefers it because she could see what/how much shes cutting. Well, my hair is on the dry side and i have medium thick hair and always wish it was thinner. Anw, she made my hair even more poofy and dry after blowing drying and using the straight iron keep on combing it to decide how to cut it, i looked at myself and thought i have too much hair and i want to thin it out. in all fairness, i was the one that asked her to thin my hair but i feel like if she cut my hair wet like other people i wouldnt have thought i have so much hair, and she used a razor instead of the scissor to thin it and my hair is so jagged at the end, different length, really dry and it looks just horrible. My haircut was 3 months ago and im still cant do anything to fix it except to wait for it to grow out. I get so upset still thinking about it- dont know if im more mad at myself for not listening to my instinct or that it was a rip off because her skills didnt commensurate with the price the salon was charging. I paid over $45for just a hair cut and with that price, i might as well pay few extra $ at a real professional place. Ah lesson learned i guess but my hair doesnt seem to grow fast enough sigh.. Anw, she was really nice but she didnt know how to cut hair. I feel bad writing this review- its my 1st time writing a review and a bad one- but beware if you do go here. We all know how long it takes to grow out hair and we cant afford to pay good money and get bad hair cut that could take months to grow back. This could be just one incident but just careful going here...

For 20 years plus Ive been going to Edward Wadsworth for hair. For years prior I frequented the new and trendy salons downtown. After going to EW for the first time, I never went anywhere else. Ive never had one bad experience and Im there every five weeks. Everyone is extremely professional and detail oriented. You can go to any stylist at EW. They are a wealth of information and passionate about what they do. Stylist remain current with all of the training they attend throughout the year all over the U.S. They are ahead of the curve with up and coming styles and colors trends. Difficult hair? No worries, theyve got you covered. EW offers specialist who are trained to cut curly hair or thick hair, which is what I have. You will always have options at this salon, with new products and add-on services if you choose. Everyone who works there is fun and creative. I see clients of all ages when I am there. You will never be rushed and they listen to your concerns and what you want in a style and color. Ive changed my hair frequently. So many colors, styles, lengths and trends. Ive always walked out happy. They are fabulous at fixing issues that may have been as a result of a bad salon experience. Ive also gone there for special occasion blowouts or up dos. If you ever feel unhappy about your experience, do not hesitate to let them know. Customer service is important to this salon and they will work with you to achieve a great result. They are competitively priced. The atmosphere is hip and the music is always great! I highly recommend.

The staff at EW are incredible on all levels. Theyre friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and creative. Ive been going to this salon for 15 years, and Im only 33 years old. They follow the changing seasons and trends and always know whats hot and how to make that work with what you have. Even though Im considered a "regular" I am ALWAYS treated like a new client. Each and every appointment, Marnie sits down with me and consults about what Im looking for. She has also directly contributed to colors that I wouldnt have thought of on my own and Ive never been un-happy with the results. I trust that she has asked the right questions, knows the products she working with, and knows her canvas (me) well enough to send me out the door looking my best! Sydney is another star performer in the salon. She has taken me from short and shaggy to long and layered. A while back I sporadically opted for bangs, and she grabbed her scissors and went for it with a smile. She is my hair muse :) Btw, I have never received as many compliments on my haircut as I did after getting bangs. Theyre longer and textured with a lot of movement and play, love them!! I think I may look forward to visiting with Marnie and Sydney more than I look forward to actually getting my hair done, and thats saying something for a working mother of a 3 year old and a 3 month old!! I consider them to be my friends...very talented and professional friends :) I am proud to be a client at EW! I have, and will continue to refer patrons to this lovely local business!!

I was a client of EW for over 20 years before moving to San Francisco in 2005. In all that time, through new staff, remodeling and service changes, I NEVER had a problem with the Salon. Oh yes, sometime a cut wasnt quite right but it was corrected immediately. They always considered my busy life and my inability to style my hair. Nothing was complicated and I went through dozens of different looks, from Dorothy Hamill to Exotica...which I loved. In the beginning Ed Wadsworth cut and colored my hair. After he died, Dondid the cut and his colorist, Taylor, did her magic. I went from blonde to natural then red.I still use Taylors Wella Red Formula and am always complimented here in SF. Sometimes necessity required a new stylist. NO PROBLEMS. NEVER, EVER in all those years did I have a bad experience with anyone at EW. On the contrary, I made some of their days difficult, esp. when I wanted long hair and could not tolerate the grow out period. They should have FIRED ME. Someone complained about a $45 cut? There are many here in SF with horrible cuts and color and they pay well over $100 for each. Donald Dutro and his salon, employees and services WOULD MAKE A FORTUNE IN SF. I love Edward Wadsworth for Hair. Thank you all for everything. and COME ON DOWN!!!
