Years ago after growing increasingly exasperated by so-called “computer tech experts” who were mostly learning their trade on my dime, I met Gene Gratton—also known as Metro Computerworks. Since then, Gene has been my go-to guy on any and all computer issues. Rather than like previous folks who solved problems like auto mechanics who keep trying new parts until the problem goes away, Gene almost always makes a beeline to the solution. Besides this keeping costs fair and reasonable, it also means that I’m back in business (freelance creative services) without a long, frustrating delay. It helps that Gene has taken the initiative to know my business and is sensitive to how timely service saves my bacon. In the past, Gene has retrieved critical files from a “melted-down-dead” hard drive that I had no expectation of getting back. He’s provided informed counsel on selecting computers and software, he’s set up networks (when I was ambitious and had employees)... and once he even advised me on selecting and installing a phone system. Most lately he killed a nasty virus that was creating havoc. Beyond all this, Gene Gratton is a heckuva nice guy who takes pride in his work... and is honest and fair with computer illiterates like me. What more could anyone possibly ask for?

My laptop was suffering from viruses. Slow running, couldnt run more than 1 open window at a time. I wasnt sure where to take it. I called several places. After brief conversations, I was left with the impression that Metro Computerworks was the most straightforward and honest. Nonetheless, I was taking a chance because I had no direct referral or past experience with them. Turned out that Gene was a very polite and candid professional. They fixed my computer issues and took the time to give me a performance review before I left with the computer. In the past, I have known people who have claimed to "know about computers" and done as much damage as good. Therefore, I dont trust many people with my equipment. Overall, Im very happy with my decision to try Metrocomputerworks. They are very courteous and they seem to take pride in a job well done. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I called on Metro Computerworks for help when my Windows 10 laptop wouldnt boot up after being powered off with the power switch. Marcus worked diligently to try to repair Windows, but ultimately had to re-install it. He did so without disturbing any of my documents or files. Then Gene assisted me with re-installing Microsoft Office from the setup file that was still intact from when I originally installed it. After I got home, I had trouble getting the dual monitor resolution settings correct, and Gene assisted me again - this time remotely. And Voila! - my PC is back in business! They were both great to work with, and got the job done very quickly.

Gene and co. were super responsive to my plea for help when I was in Portland for 48 hours. I had a major crisis when I dropped my computer while on business travel and needed to have my computer back up and running as soon as possible. They helped make a stressful situation a lot less so and helped prevent me from having to go out and buy another computer. They were able to save my device and I can report as of today it is up and working nicely. If you need fast help with your computer these guys can help you out and for a very fair price.

When looking for a local computer repair center, the first thing I noticed was the way the phone was answered. Very unprofessional, a simple hello, no indication I was speaking to a person or a business. On top of that the person was so soft spoken I could hardly hear them. When asking a question the response I got was an um.. I dont know Would not waste the gas to drive to them if they are not awake enough to answer a phone call.

Friendly service and honest advice. I brought my Macbook here after a bad liquid spill, and they took it apart and assessed the damage for free. While my laptop ended up being a lost cause, I really appreciated that they were honest with me in terms of advising me that buying a new laptop would likely be cheaper than the cost to try and repair the damage.

Gene was incredibly gracious to take a look at my desktop which refused to turn on after I swapped out my old NIC for a brand new one. It was obviously just a problem with my PCs power button and when it turned on miraculously (and embarrassingly!) he didnt charge me anything at all! A rare and honest business man. Hes earned my repeat business.

These guys have been great, and have pulled my wifes laptop back together three times from what seemed terminal (from a drink spill to a scammer lockout). They are very affordably priced, sympathetic (and let her know when she could order a piece herself to save costs), work quickly given the parameters of ordering parts, and quite helpful.

Had an urgent issue where my computer was totally unusable- they not only helped me identify the problem, but they also helped me hunt for the right hardware to fix the problem, and got it repaired extremely fast and for a great price. Would strongly recommend to anyone who needs computer work done. Plus, they have a cute dog in the lobby!

My computer was not holding a charge so I took it into Metro. They spent about 15 minutes looking at it and fixed the problem and didnt charge me a cent. I found them to be very professional and friendly and will definitely return with a "real problem" one day. Plus if you are a dog person you wont be sorry!
