In this review, I will simply state an observation. According to numerous national websites, they come out and state that Meineke does offer a 10% military discount for "parts only". My bill was along the lines of: $40 for shop supplies; $975 for parts; and $1,000 for labor. Prior to my asking about the military discount, they did state that they gave some discounts, such as a $3.00 "oil change special", discounted brake pads labor plus $50 off anything over $500. Anyone is eligible for those discounts. When I asked about the military discount and the 10% off parts, they stated that they do provide the military discount. However, when I looked at my final bill, I received a military discount of.....(are you ready).....only $24.95. This from an invoice of over $2,000.00!!! When researching it further, I found that they do offer a 10% discount.....but not necessarily "military". It is 10% MAXIMUM TOTAL. For example, if the total bill was $2,000, and parts was $1,000 of that, one would "expect" a military discount of $100.00 (10% of parts) on top of any other "normal" specials they gave. But, not at this Meineke. If they "already" gave $175 in "specials" (as listed above), and you ask about the 10% military discount for parts, they will NOT give you an extra $100.00, but instead take the total invoice ($2,000), take 10% of that ($200), then subtract whatever specials they "already" gave ($175) (which "anyone" is eligible for), then derive the balance to make the total discount $200. In this case, $200 minus $175 equals $25.00 for the "military" discount. So, basically, the websites that mentioned 10% military discount off parts is "misleading". The "military discount" just raises the "ceiling" of discounts to 10%, regardless of what "normal" discounts were already given. I will ensure that the military websites are advised of this need for "wording tweak" so that future customers do not expect TOO much at Meineke based "solely" on "military" discount.

Initially we took our Subaru Outback there to have the air air conditioning checked and if need be have it refilled well I knew there were problems with it because it wasnt working properly but they told us what it was going to cost and it was all good because we had to replace the compressor and the accumulator dryer later and some other stuff all said and done it was around $990 well heres the catch we got a call from the guys at Meineke telling us that the guy was test driving the car rear-ended another car with our Subaru well they fixed the bumper at their cost but then they didnt really do a good job they over sprayed all over the inside of the bumper and never bother to sand it down or make it smooth as it was before not a big issue because the car was old anyhow the bigger issue at hand was well about seven months after the new compressor was installed well the air conditioning started blowing warm air again so it took it back they told us there was a gasket bad on the compressor so they were fixed it free of charge and recharge the air conditioning it works for about maybe 3 months after that and now I got to go take it back in again because its blowing warm air again I wish people would just take their time even it cost more money to do it right the first time his now this is a third trip not including the fact that the car was out of commission for a few days because it was in an accident because of something they did while working on the car not too pleased

THEY ARE NOT HONEST! I stopped going to this store nine years ago for this reason. Rocky, the new store manager is great, but John the Owner?/booky has no clue as to how to treat customers. He was the reason I hadnt been back in nine years. I went in for an oil change because of Rocky, Their mechanic told me the brake fluid had 4% water in it which would lead to brake line corrosion failure and destruction of the piston in the caliper. They also told me I needed a new muffler because it had water spots on it despite no apparent holes. I sent them an article from the internet disproving the brake fluid scam and had the muffler checked at one of their competitors who said it was fine. My son took his car in for an oil change and they said he needed a new serpentine belt, oil pan, valve cover and transmission gaskets and 2 power steering hoses. Total cost $850.65. WOW!! The facts are that these same items were already replaced from one to two years ago by reputable mechanics.

I took my car there for a PA State and Emissions inspection. When I came to pick the car up I was told that there several problems with my car preventing it from passing inspection. We went around the car and he showed me the problem areas and they looked believable. I was told that I had no other option but to fix these problems which came to a total of $1750 or my car wouldnt pass inspection. Because I was new to this state and I was very naive I gave in. I had no other option because my inspection was due and there were no other garages which could do it in time. I later looked up the PA Code section 175.80 for the inspection procedure and I found that I was definitely taken advantage of. The things that they said would not pass inspection were not nearly as severe as is stated in the inspection procedure. I truly believe that if I went to a different garage my car would have passed. Will not be returning to this meineke!

Ive been going to these guys since I brought my family here with the Navy in 2006. Over the years they have fixed just about everything that can need fixing on my cars. Yes they have found things I didnt expect from time to time but how can one expect to know everything your car might need before you go in? I usually do but not always I admit. These guys have been very reasonable with me and there have been times when components they installed went bad and they stood behind them and replaced them at no charge. And once it was even beyond the timeframe of the guarantee. Other times Ive had issues while on the road and I called ahead and they took me right away. I depend on my car and I cant be without it. Despite a few angry posters here (a site like this is irresistible to bitter people), Im a loyal customer, and theyve been good to me as well-- all of them. And they didnt pay me to write this.

On January 11th my car overheated and I got off at the Carlisle Pike letting my car at the nearest repair shop which happened to be Meineke. My father took my husband and I back home to York. The next day Meineke called and said my car needed a new head gasket and should have the water pump replaced, timing chain and an oil change during the process at an estimated cost of $1800.00. I told them I didnt want to put that much money into my 1992 Honda Accord. Monday I went back with lots of water and managed to get my car to a friends house. Tuesday I bought a replacement car spending $2,500 of my saved money. Today my friends son looked at my Honda and told me its just a hose with a hole in it.It REALLY ticks me off that Meineke was going to try to take me for serious cash when all that was wrong was a hose.
