I DO NOT write reviews on a normal basis. After our experience with this Meineke, I was compelled to do so. I took my 2000 Toyota Avalon to get new brake pads and had a feeling I would need rotors, as well. I had this shop do the work (I normally use a dealership) for a total of almost $900 for lifetime pads, rotors, and a couple pins that needed replaced. It was a hefty sum, but my car is in excellent condition, and I plan to keep it until the doors fall off. After picking up the car, I immediately heard a rubbing sound coming from the rear axle. I didnt have time to turn around to go back, as I had to work. But, I did call them and ask if it was safe to drive for the time being. He agreed it was. A few days later, I took it back and they said it was the caliper piston which would not seat properly - which by the way, they were VERY willing to sell to me. I used to do my own periodic maintenance on my cars (when I had more time) such as oil changes, brakes, filters, etc. But, for the big stuff, I tended to take my car to the dealer. I say this so you can understand my skepticism as to the caliper being the issue. I told them to try to re-seat the piston (knowing that probably wasnt the problem), and took my car to a Toyota dealer for a second opinion. They found a mess. The left rear parking brake shoe assembly was broken and loosely rotating behind the wheel assembly - among other issues. They said they have seen that before when rotors are changed by banging to hard on the assembly to remove the old parts. Through the dealership and using factory parts, it was going to cost almost $600 more to fix! I was furious that one, Meineke didnt take the time to do the job correctly, but more importantly, they didnt take the time to find their mistake when I brought it back to them a second time. My wife sometimes drives my car with our 6-year old in the back. I asked the Meineke person if he would have felt responsible had the rear assembly locked up because the shoes had gotten caught up while driving on the highway? What if the car veered of the highway at a high speed? All he offered to do was to change the assembly (which they more than likely broke in the first place) with cheap, after-market parts (for a lot less money, of course). My family is worth more to me than that. He made every excuse in the book as to why it happened. Meineke should have offered to pay the dealership amount to fix it correctly. I DO NOT recommend taking your vehicle to this shop or ANY Meineke. As expensive as a dealership is it is worth the peace of mind knowing it is done right. And even if they make a mistake, I am quite sure a dealership would stand behind their product and service. A very expensive lesson learned on my part.

EDIT: I was contacted today(2015-09-24) by the shop employee. He pointed out that at the time of my service, the owner was the same person who now owns Steubenville Pike Auto Repair/Sales. Since the claim is that it was a different shop/owner then, Im changing my review to a neutral one, since Ive had no dealings with the current management other than the phone call. Mitch, the gentleman that called, seems like a nice enough fellow. The current owner actually called me 2015-09-30 and apologized again for my poor treatment, and wanted to emphasize that they wish to repair old customers, and develop new relations with them. Despite not being his shop at the time of mistreatment, he offered a free oil change. Should I take him up on the offer, i will update the review once again. What follows is the review I left when the shop was under different management. Retaining for historical purposes. The owner of the shop at that time now owns Steubenville Pike Auto. I would not recommend Steubenville Pike Auto based upon the service i received then. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today, for the first time in a couple years, I accelerated in my car without it sounding like a truck. I had exhaust work done at meineke on route 60 (near robinson) two or three years ago when it was still across from midas. When I went to pick it up, when I put the car in drive it sounded like I still had a hole in the exhaust. When I took it back, they said all older cars do that and basically tried to give me the runaround. I insisted that they were wrong and told them exactly what was wrong and how to confirm it on the rack. (Even if i just turned the AC on while in park was enough engine load for the exhaust to hit the frame and vibrate the entire car. (which I discovered through my own diagnostics)) They "fixed it" but not really... when i accelerated or went up a hill, it would make the same noise. They also had the muffler hitting the towing bar. A friend looked at their repair and said it looks like they just beat some of the hangers enough to bend them up to get to that level of "fixed". By that point i was so angry i didnt even want them touching my car. I recently needed to have other work done to it, so had Ryans Auto in Ingram fix it. Finally, Blessed Silence!

MISLEADING ON LINE ADVERTISING AND JUST PLAN RUDE ARROGANT SERVICE The shop was close to my home so I booked an appointment on line. One of the first things to come up on the website for this location was "see discount coupons for this location". I clicked on it and assorted coupons came up. I picked the "$19.95" oil change along with a " Free check engine light scan". It also stated that the coupons would be emailed to the shop along with my booking. I printed the coupons anyways. I arrived for my appointment. Its understandable for the techs to look a little rough dealing with oil all day, but the apparent manager was unshaven and had a filthy gray t-shirt on. He promptly took my keys and said they would start on my vehicle right away. I went out to my vehicle to get the coupons I printed and when I presented to him he said " We dont accept coupons, said it was stated on the website, and then pointed to a little hand written sign taped the the cash register screen that sated as much. I replied that if it was stated on the their website it must have been in very small print and to top it off, he must of known I was expecting to use the coupons as the website said it was sending the selected coupons to the shop along with the my on line booking. The least he could have done is contact me to say they dont except coupons. His demeanor was also less than cordial. And the kicker, if this surly, unkempt manager would have handled it differently, I would have still had my vehicle, along with my other 3 vehicles, serviced at this location just for the convenient location. It was a waste of my valuable time and a horrible experience.

Extremely helpful and great customer service!!! I went in for a state inspection. Dropped my car off, and not even 1.5 hours later they called back to let me know they were able to look over everything. (Thats the fastest Ive EVER been seen by any garage. Normally, I dont get a call back until the end of the day when I drop my car off for service!) Although I passed emissions, the car wouldnt pass state inspection due to a fuel leak that caused my frame to rust & corrode. They were extremely helpful and explained everything in detail. Even though they didnt do welding & refabrication work, they referred me to a few places. They also looked up the value of my truck to let me know that in the end it may cost more to fix my truck than to turn it in for a new (used) car. I also spoke with the technician who lifted the truck up for me to see exactly what happened and what would need to be fixed. They were all so friendly, and for once I wasnt concerned that someone was trying to upsell me for parts I had no idea if I actually needed. I HIGHLY recommend these wonderful people. I personally spoke with Max & Richard and their communication was very open. They made sure I thoroughly understood everything and that I had no questions when I left. Great people and great service!
