We called in Mr. Rooter, after getting a recommendation for him from our Insurance Agent, as we had standing water in our crawlspace. The plumber came out and informed us that we would need to have a sump pump plus french drains in the crawlspace as well as in the front of our home. He stated that they use good quality pumps (his cost was 1,000.00) and that once they were done we would never know that they were here. We asked him the price which he left to talk to his boss, came back and told us 3200.00. We felt that he was giving us a high price but we also knew that something needed to be done as the water would continue to give us more issues down the road. When he came out the next week to fix the issue, he informed me that I would need an additional french drain at a cost of 800.00 but that we had "running water" coming in through the bricks. I told him to go ahead and do the work. I continued to ask them questions: ie: Is the dirt up against the foundation okay? is their drainage tile all along the the trench? He told me that it was fine for the dirt to be there, and No, he "put pieces" of tile in the trench as he did not want the drainage tile to collapse. He put the pump in an HD all purpose bucket, wired to a regular house outleft and not a GFCI. When he left I looked again at our crawlspace and it looks like a bomb went off. there are mounds of dirt everywhere, with our vapor barrier just pulled over all. I started to look at the prices of the pump...164.00 (not 1,000.00) and 2.69 for the bucket. We asked another plumber to come in to check it and he took one look at it and said that we received a poor quality job and his price would have been 2500.00 not 4000.00 that we were charged. My husband talked to the owner and he ended up getting very nasty and just kept saying, "Well is it draining, is it working?" He also stated that if the only thing that is wrong is the electrical he would have someone come out and fix it. He continued to state that it was okay to just put it in a bucket as the water would need to flow over the top of it into the whole. My husband stated that that is why you use a sump pump basin with holes along the side of it. He finally agreed to have someone come out to take a look it. But given the attitude of the owner and being taken advantage of we will never call Mr. Rooter again for any of our plumbing needs.

Mr. Rooter has been our go-to plumber for years. Unfortunately, our house has had multiple plumbing issues over the years and Mr. Rooter has bailed us out (yes, pardon the pun) every time. Weve had several emergency plumbing problems and Mr. Rooter was very, very prompt and took care of every aspect of the issue. Mr. Rooter is also respectful of our home---wearing shoe coverings when entering and cleaning up whatever mess (having to drill holes in walls and ceiling to repair pipes is messy--it cant be helped) is created once the plumbing problem is solved. One of our emergencies was a whole-house flood that happened when a pipe burst while we were away for the day. Not only was Mr. Rooter on-site within minutes of our call taking care of the plumbing disaster, but they knew who else to call--like the mold mitigation folks. We always request Russ as our technician. He is courteous, skilled, patient (a number of our problems were mystery leaks that required some sleuthing), tenacious (he never gives up on solving a problem), thorough, and flexible in working with us. I am convinced that we have cost Mr. Rooter more time and effort than we have paid for due to our houses crazy plumbing. But Mr. Rooter always comes anyway when we call. We cant say the same about other plumbing companies that weve tried. I would recommend Mr. Rooter to everyone---and no, Im not being paid to say this! :)

What ever. They are not as great as they claim. I had work done by them costing me almost 2,000. it took them 3 days, just to put in 2 toilets, they flooded my basement bathroom, set the toilet in and its not level, then spilled toilet water on my stairs, and didnt tell me, and never cleaned it up. I had to. after I walked on it bare footed. they smeared, cement on my floor and did a bad job cleaning it. I had to go back over it, and still cant get it up. Had one guy come out that was rude and disrespectful, then they came back out with the supervisor, and still nothing but they did want to give my husband and I a gift card for dinner anywhere we wanted, I said no just want it fixed, then the offer me a 100. back. I called a different plumber who said they could fix it for 250. Rooter claims my floor is uneven, once I get it level they would come and fix it for free. Had my floors checked by an engineer, he said its not my floors it is the toilet. So I called mr rooter they refuse to come back out. Told me they will just give me the 100. I told them again no. Now this was the supervisor who is refusing to help me. So you see this is just one of the reasons I will not call them. Oh yea they claim on their web page a free inspection on the pipes, thats a lie they never did. I could go on but the more I type the more upset I get. this is just some of the pictures and mess they left.

Tech showed up promptly. Without analyzing the problem, he suggested replacing the perfectly good toilet because it uses more water than newer models. I declined. My toilet needed the fill valve replaced, a part I had already bought for $7.99 at Ace Hardware. I have done this same job years before but there was a stripped fastener that made me consider paying a plumber. He looked at the toilet for about 30-45 seconds and punched some numbers. He quoted me $339.00! I think I laughed out loud at that point and told him I would consider about one-third of that figure. He said he would call the boss. After the call, he said he would do it for $249. I passed on that offer, as well, and wished him a good day. Later that day, I invested the thirty minutes necessary to do the job, as I should have done to start with, and all is well now for the initial outlay of $7.99 plus tax. In their defense, they didnt try to charge me for insulting my intelligence with those price quotes.

We completely gutted a 1950s ranch earlier this year included all the plumbing, sink, disposal, etc... but despite the plumbing work being "new" we just recently found a leak under our kitchen sink. This is not the first problem weve had with the work our contractor did, and so instead of calling them back to redo their work again and costing ourselves more time and frustration we called Mr Rooter. We called this morning at 9:30am (on a Saturday) and had a technician at our house by 10:30am... unbelievably fast! The technician (Grant Rhodes) found the cause of the leak in less than a minute, proposed a fix, quoted us a cost, and fixed it in less than 30 minutes. Quick response, knowledgeable technician, quick fix, and a 2 YEAR WARRANTY on the work they did.... so if we have an issue (like weve had with our old contractor) theyll come out an fix it for free. Very happy!
