So Im one of the happiest people youll ever meet, and I never leave bad reviews of a place...until now. I called this morning to get my oil changed and tires rotated before the drive home. The guy told me $30-50 total depending on the oil. Great. Thats about what I pay everywhere else Ive ever gone in my life. They could get me in today but itll take 1.5 hrs. Thats a bit long, but whatever, Im on vacation and I can kill time at Coligny. So I wandered around Coligny for 3 hours before I started making my way back to the shop. Maybe they entered my cell incorrectly? Btw, they did end up calling me, but it was about 2 mins before I got back to the shop. Then I got the invoice. $92! $36 for oil filter (and I guess oil too). $9 for oil change labor. $8 for an extra quart because my Ford Focus needs that. $6 for a shop supplies fee? And $28 to rotate tires. In total: $52 for parts, $38 for labor, and tax = $92 for an oil change on a Focus!!! And dont forget it took 3+ hours. They looked busy but not swamped and there were tons of mechanics that I saw. I will make sure to never come here again. Hope others have found this helpful and have better experiences than I did. Cheers.

I started to write a review that spelled out specifically my experience. I ran out of space. The short version is this: I would not take my car anywhere else. Mike, Barry and the rest of the team are among the most honest in the business. My situation with my car was a major transmission issue. When it was all said and done, Mike made the recommendation not to do the work that was required as it didnt make sense on a car, while still in good shape, was very high in miles. They walked away from a $7,500 transmission job because it was in my best interest. Have you ever heard of an auto service company walking away from work because to do the work wasnt in the best interest of the customer? I never have. In addition, I wasnt charged for the diagnostic work or the towing. Dont trust your car to anyone else.

Came here today because my wheel was literally about to fall off my car. My boyfriend asked a man working there if he could help us tighten the lug nuts and the man said they dont have equipment yo do that.... HOW THE HELL DO THEY CALL THEMSELVES A TIRE PLACE IF THEY DONT HAVE EQUIPMENT TO REMOVE WHEELS?! I was referred here by a co-worker I was planning on making an appointment for an alignment and I would have been more than willing to pay for my wheel to be secured, but how can I trust a tire shop that doesnt know how to remove a wheel?? I had to take a terrifying drive to Bluffton tire where they helped me out. They were extremely helpful and I will be returning to them for my tire needs. Its a shame because island tire is around the corner from my job.

I had Two New left tires and they were the closest tow so I brought my car there took a week to get (only due to holidays) worst time right. $1,400 later I needed two new tires and rims but anyways after I got my car just my luck there was a nail in the right tire. But instead of charging me like any other company would the gentleman took care of it for free witch was honestly a blessing for someone on a tight budget and already in the red for this kind gesture I will always recommend this place and will be back. Its pays off to do something good for other people every once in while. If only other companies understood the importance of that. Dont hesitate to come here quick friendly and always a pleasure to do business with them.

The "maintenance required" warning on my Prius popped on a couple of days before a 10-hour drive home, leaving me to wonder if I should take it to a Toyota dealer in Bluffton. At home, a trip to the dealership can mean hours of waiting, so I thought Id take a chance on a place more convenient to where I am on HHI. I didnt know Island Tire at all, but am pleased to report that I made at 10 a.m. I appointment for 2 p.m. the same day and was out the door (only an oil change was needed) just over an hour later. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, the staff efficient and courteous and the price was only about 10 percent higher than I would pay with my local guys at home. Kudos to Island for a job well done.

On the way to the Island from middle of the country this past June, noticed some vibration at 80mph in wifes car and pulling right more than it should. I had rotated tires recently, so I suspected alignment. I took it in as I didnt want to drive back like that. It would have been very easy for the Island tire to charge me full balance, rotate and 4 wheel alignment. They checked one wheel, when it was in balance they just did the 4 wheel alignment. They gave me the before and after data as I requested, right side was out of alignment. Very reasonable price and I was pleased. I do a lot of work on my own cars, Id go back here any time Im on the Island.

Really, really disappointed! I live on the island, and for the second time this company has lost my scheduled appointment....btw, I had phoned my appointment and spoke with a real(?) person. Now, in fairness the person I spoke with when I arrived for my appointment offered to have the service done....at a later time. Since we were also to be elsewhere in that day, I could not reschedule. Since I have had this history with their company, I will neither recommend them, nor add my support in the annual survey. Ive had it! BTW, I gave them 2 stars instead of 1, because when you can actually get to their service it is fine!

We have been going to Island Tire for over 25 years and Barry and Mike have always taken great care of us. I cant tell you how many times they have pulled a nail out of our tire and sent us on our way, or worked us in for an emergency. Today, they repaired a simple hose that had separated and re-filled the reservoir, all at no charge and within 5 minutes while I waited. A shop that was not so honest could have really taken advantage of that problem on an unsuspecting customer. They are locally owned and care about each customer. It is nice to have a place you can trust.

I took my Chevy Traverse there before we were headed back to Ohio since my rear tire was losing air each day on vacation. They apparently took the tire off and cleaned the rim essentially claiming that they solved the problem. 3 hours into my trip back to Ohio, I was at a tire repair center in Charlotte since my tire was leaking air again through a hole in the tire. Luckily, the tire repair center fixed the tire for free but it was not fun waiting for an hour due to Island tires mistake. Find another spot on Hilton Head that isnt only after your money.
