Dear E Colton Perez , I wanted to take my time to thank you and your company(to the guys that worked on my 2004 Cadillac SRX ,I apologize for not remembering your names.) for taking the time to inspect my brakes for free. I had been hearing some squeaking in my brakes for a couple of weeks when I came to a stop. I took my car into your shop this afternoon( the South Lamar store) expecting to pay about 4 or 500 dollars on brakes after getting a quote from my dealership.Your employees looked at my 2004 Cadillac SRX and told me that my brakes and rotors were just fine. That I didnt need to have any work performed on them and that everything was working as it was intended to. Essentially no repairs were needed and it was a free inspection as stated. I walked out of the store very happy because I didnt have to spend my money on brakes. More Importantly It gave me the piece of mind that my brakes were in good mechanical shape and will be safe for the drive Im making to South Dakota in a week for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Before taking my Cadillac to your store I had just driven from covert Cadillac where I was told that my brakes would be $700.00 BEFORE anyone had taken a look at them. I did ask for the quote before having the brakes looked at my brakes because I am leery of dealerships and what they charge for their work. When I set up my appointment at the dealership I was quoted $360.00 for front and rear brake pads plus turning my rotors and a free rental. I thought that was a fair deal and this called for a visit to the dealership. I thought hey a free rental now theres a good reason to take my car to the dealership. Well I am very glad I asked how much my brakes were going to be before taking my rental and leaving my keys there at the dealership because the $360.00 the guy had quoted me over the phone was only for labor. Parts would have been another $350.00 for just front and back pads. YES I know I drive a Cadillac and that it can be a very expensive car to maintain BUT almost $800.00 for a brake job is a little expensive in my opinion. But hey what do I know about brakes right ? nothing its just my opinion and my checking accounts as well. Im sure there are some people out there that will agree with me on this however. Anyway I am so not confident that after looking at my car and seeing that I didnt need front or rear brake pads that the dealership would not have sold them to me anyways.I am however now confident in brake specialist total car care and their honesty Thanks guys for taking a look at my car for free and running an honest business.Yall should be commended for your honesty and hard work. I hope you are valued by your employer for the great employees that you are . Because of the honesty you guys have earned a customer that will be back when I need to have some work done on my car . Because I know that it will be worked on by someone who knows what they are doing and that they arent going to try to sell me something that I did not need just to rip me off. Thanks again. Sincerly , Jason M

This is my first review on any business, which goes to show how much of an impact they had. Its easy to show customer service when someone pays you, but how someone treats you when you turn down their service is how you can really judge their character. I took my car in this morning to get the brakes inspected. I was given an estimate that was way over my budget. I worked with J.T. on modifying the price, but at the end of the day, it just wasnt going to be right for me at the time. J.T. was incredible throughout the entire process. As someone who works in a sales environment, you constantly see people change their attitude when they realize they arent getting the sell. J.T. was consistent in his attitude towards me and even provided with a geography that provides a more cost-effective solution. I despise going to auto shops, etc. Im a younger, laid back guy with an (older) Lexus, so I am usually the target of people trying to scam me. I cant stand the pressure and the constant feeling of not trusting people. Although I didnt end up getting my car worked on, I will come back to them because it seems like they are genuine people here. I highly recommend J.T. and the guys at Austins Automotive Specialist.

Unbelievably horrible. Im not even sure where to start...I was "quoted" nearly $600 for a front brake job on my jeep. I was told Id need new brake pads, rotors and the calipers rebuilt. When I asked for a copy of the quote, they gave me a blank copy with zero information. Feeling this was completely suspect, I had a friend help me look at the brakes myself. Not only are my calipers fine, the rotors are still in good shape (can be turned when that time comes) and on top of everything else, the brake pads are not even worn enough to be causing my squeal. No work was necessary on my vehicle. I have no idea what this company is trying to pull, but they tried to swindle me out of hundreds of dollars. On top of that, the man behind the counter spoke poorly of two separate customers who came into the shop, directly to me, while I was waiting. I wouldnt recommend this company to my worst enemy. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

We are on a long road trip, and passing through Austin. We were hearing a little knocking noise in our old Vanagon, we had problems with the axle before and were worried it was broken again. These guys were great. They took us with no appointment (on the day before New Years Eve!), put it up on the lift and then drove around with us. Everything checked out okay, they put our minds at ease, and they didnt even charge us! Being "out of towners" and not an expert mechanic, Im always worried about being taken advantage of. They could have told us something was broken, or even just charged us for the checkup. Instead they were professional and very kind, and sent us on our way. Thanks so much to Austins Auto Specialists, were confidently back on the road! Happy Holidays!

BEWARE... They really do care... about getting as much money as they can out of you. Went in for general pad replacement (the stated $99 for all 4 brakes), and the associate gave me an estimate for close to $600 (without taxes) stating they were going to have to replace everything on my front brakes. My truck only had 70k miles on it, so I went to another brake specialist for a 2nd quote. The mechanic literally laughed when I showed him Brake Specialists invoice, and said that this was riduculous. Ended up costing me $200 with taxes for basic pad replacement. Brake Specialist should be investigated by Better Business Bureau if this is how they treat everyone. My advice, look around and get a second opinion. Happy Motoring!
