I gotta say, this place really surprised me, in an extremely good way. I went here to get my AC checked out and when I walked in, it was trashed. The place is very dirty, the displays are a mess, the technicians are covered with grease and wearing filthy t-shirts (no uniforms) and the television was blaring some daytime shows where they ask couples if theyve cheated on each other and then give lie detector tests. So, you ask, why do they have 5 stars when Ive basically described the automotive equivalent of a sport stadium after a game? Because the service was phenomenal. Im serious, I sat there for ~45 minutes and everyone that came in was greeted by the manager (big dude, sideways cap). They got a handshake, he knew a lot of their names and they were in and out in as quickly as 3 minutes. Im not joking. One dude pulls up, has a check engine light. As quickly as they had the scanner hooked up, they had added a bit of brake fluid and gave him back his key - free of charge. The dudes face was priceless - the conversation went like this customer: no man, you take the keys, I want yall to fix it... Huh? Wait, what? Youre done?! Its free? WOW! I saw no less than 6 people file through, and almost everyone got in and out cheaply or free. One guy paid like $100 but it was for a brake job that has a lifetime warranty nationwide - hell never buy parts again only labor! One lady needed ignition coils and she was pretty strapped and getting very sad. The guys talked to her about going across the street to A-line and getting the part and theyd work with her getting them installed. Hell, for me they did an AC recharge to find a leak and it was free. The fact that, as a true germaphobe, Im going back to Midas South Austin every time my truck needs something should tell you all you need to know. This may be the only caring, community loving affordable mechanics shop left in the Nation and its a nationwide chain store - go figure.

I took my Isuzu Trooper into Midas on Ben White to have the brakes fixed and found out we had a much bigger problem than just brakes. Rueben, the Center Manager, explained everything in detail, took me under the car and showed me everything that was needing to be fixed. He was so down to earth, full of integrity and had compassion on my situation. Unfortunately, everything was wrong with my Trooper! And, obviously it was too expensive for us to fix a car with 300,000 miles on it! I was so impressed with his ability to make it clear to me the issues at hand and help me understand the safety issues it was causing my family. Then he graciously made some suggestions on how to make money getting rid of my Trooper. Wow, I was so thankful. On top of that tip, he allowed us to keep our car on his lot for 3+ weeks while we were able to locate the title. He didnt know us at all, did not receive any money from us AND went over and above to see that we were able to have a positive outcome on our Trooper! It was very clear to us that this location truly has your best interest in mind! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get new brakes, etc at a Midas! And say hello to Reuben as he is quite the gentleman!!

I had read the reviews on here and was a bit apprehensive about going into this location, but it was the closest and I NEEDED to get my car dealt with. First, an acceptably clean building. Chris, the manager, was amazing! She was friendly and informative. It turned out my car was worse than I thought (I didnt get tricked, I knew the three issues, but I didnt realize how dangerous a predicament I was in). Chris helped me decide which issue I needed to deal with right then, and lessened my concern about required driving until I can fix the other two. As for the comment about tipping in the reviews, I had stated when paying that I was planning on a tip, but as my expense was much higher than I planned, I couldnt afford it and I would get her next time because she was amazing. She kindly stated, "tipping isnt required." I had also brought up the poor reviews and Chris stated she was aware, which was on reason she was at this location. If you want great service and a friendly environment, go to this Midas location!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE I went in with a problem with my headlights. After completing the diagnostic the manager came in, told me both bulbs had burned out, and offered to give me a "deal" on replacing the bulbs. I rejected it, knowing full well that I am able to replace the bulbs myself at a fraction of the cost. Suddenly all the niceness and respect went out the window, and the manager promptly told me I could leave after they put my headlights back together. Upon arriving at home I open my hood to find that THEY LEFT THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING SITTING ON MY AIR FILTER. It was absolutely not attached to anything and it was a miracle it did not fall off into a fan belt or the engine block on the short ride home. They also were very sneaky and CONNECTED MY HEADLIGHT POWER BACKWARDS so that if I tried to replace the bulb myself and used that same orientation the bulb would never work. EXTREMELY BAD AUTO REPAIR SHOP - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Have brought my vehicle here a few times for oil changes. For the most part, its been a pleasant experience. I dropped by a couple weeks ago for an oil change, but was told they couldnt perform the service until the following week because there was something "wrong" with the pans they drain the old oil into. So I stopped back a couple days ago and asked for a standard oil change and tire rotation, but this time decided to mark the rear passenger tire to see if the tires were, in fact, rotated. They were not. The marked tire remained on the rear passenger side, which begs the question.. was the tire rotation overlooked, or skipped on purpose? I find it hard to believe it was overlooked as I was told tire rotation is standard with their oil changes. I hate to say it, but it makes me wonder if the oil was even changed.

I started taking my car there a couple years ago after they got new management. Ive been pleased with their service since then. I got EXCEPTIONAL service a several weeks ago. My wifes car had the transmission light come on just before we were due to go out of town so I took my car in to get the ac (which was a little weak and a erratic) fixed so we could take it. They ended up having to replace the radiator, which had a known small hole in it and some a/c parts. It was a big job. Their charges were industry standard and they stayed late the day before our trip to complete the repairs on time. And in addition, the manager called me a couple days later to be sure everything was working properly. He also notified me that their warranty would be honored by any other Midas location on our trip if something came up.
