Update: I believe they have made an honest effort to work with me by offering a partial refund. I should have been advised to have a more thorough inspection based on the questions I asked and specific concerns I expressed; however they took ownership for failing to take adequate notes on these things to know the level of inspection I needed, and I appreciate that, and now have a better understanding of the basics a pre-purchase inspection entails. Initial complaint: This review is about both Midas of georgetown and mac haik both located on 35 IH South in Georgetown, TX, as Im suspcious they both worked together to deceive me. I was sold a lemon three days ago, and I believe they knew the vehicle had an engine effect at the time of the sell, and they deliberately deceived and lied to me about it. Even though the history report using the provided vin was satisfactory, and the pre-purchase inspection from Midas, which included a code scan was satisfactory and only found a slight issue with the control arms; yet the engine malfunction light came on just 72 hours later, and Mac Haik expects me to pay for them to repair it when they sold it me like this! I specifically asked the sales rep Jordan Boren more than once if there was anything wrong with the vehicle (especially since he claimed that their mechanics inspected so thoroughly that they shouldnt have missed the control arms) and he claimed that there was nothing wrong. They missed more than control arms, they missed something as big as an engine issue! Midas of Georgetown (Georgetown, TX) is not to be trusted either, because they clearly either missed the engine issue as well - or maybe they all just work in cahoots with each other...How else do you explain pointing out control arms, but completely miss an engine malfunction (especially when I specifically asked them about the engine and transmission)? Chris claimed he thoroughly checked it himself and everything under the hood looked good; but since the engine malfunction light came on in 72 hours after he inspected the vehicle, then a code should have come up from the code scan. When I asked him why the engine vibrated when idle, he attributed it to power of the engine purring...either this was just poor mechanic skills, he just overlooked the issue by not paying attention and thoroughly checking it like I paid him to, or they have an agreement with Mac Haik - because this just doesnt add up. I might as well have not had the vehicle inspected if I was going to bring it to them, because it defeated the whole point by them giving a satisfactory report on a dissatisfactory vehicle! I want my pre-purchase diagnostic fee back since it wasnt properly diagnosed. Now I have to take it somewhere else and pay to have someone else do what I already paid them to do to find out whats really going on with the vehicle. I never wouldve purchased the vehicle if theyd properly diagnosed it and reported the engine malfunction..I made the mistake of trusting their "professional" advise, and now Im out of thousands as a results!

Update: Gary the store manager contacted me about my dissatisfaction and was very polite and sounded genuinely concerned about my service. I have changed my rating to 4 stars from 2 stars, since just by doing this gesture means they actually care which is more than any other auto shop has ever done for me. So for that, I will give them another chance. Not coming back. Customer service wise, all the guys are nice and friendly. I have a problem with their up selling. First time I was annoyed I had a transmission fluid flush and oil change, quoted at 180 bucks before the service. Somehow it went up to 220 at checkout. When asked why, I didnt get an itemized review. They merely checked what "coupons" they had and sure enough as if by magic, the total came down to 180 as it was quoted. Also quoted it would take 1.5 hours, ended up at 3 hours total. Not terrible unless you had to sit there the whole time like I did. I gave them a second chance since maybe they had an off day. Was told previously I needed an induction service done. My car idled a little rough so I went for it. 100 bucks for that. As soon as I get in the car after theyre done, the check engine light is on. Run the code and its the EVAP sensor due to the induction service. Clears code and itll "fix" itself. Next day it comes back on. Once again, take it back to them and sit for another several hours. EVAP sensor "coincidentally" went bad when they did the service, even though it wasnt bad before. Another 120 bucks, but they dropped it to 85. Why it was at 120 to start with, I dont understand. Manufacturers estimated time to repair was 0.4 hours, and thats why it went down to $85. If it only takes 0.4 hours to repair, then charge me for only 0.4 hours. I hate to rate this at 2 stars, since these guys are really nice and have skill. I thought I finally found an honest mechanic. But after these last two visits, I refuse to take my car back here.

I have a Dodge ram 2500 a few years back I had a shop in Las Vegas install a flomaster muffler, in which started to rattle . I bought a new Magnaflow online through Advanced Auto Parts and got a great deal. I set an appt. with Midas in Georgetown Texas for last Sat.. I went there and after returning 2/1/2 hrs. later the were just getting it up on the rack. When I walked up they started their sales pitch. Originally I was quoted 65.00 then now do to a difference in the in out ports which was 2 1/2" the cost was going to be 137.00. I left without having the work done: out of principle. This Sat. at 11;30 I called Roundrock Muffler and they said they would fit me in around 2:30-3;00 and that they were short on available lifts but would help me anyway. I arrived at 2:30 and ended up waiting as they were busy. They got my truck in at 10 minutes to 4 and I was out the door 15 minutes later for exactly what they quoted me over the phone 87.00 . Im a plumber -pipe-fitter and new the work could be done just the way Roundrock Muffler did it. Im very happy with the service, the friendliness, the price and the honesty. Shame on you Midas and KUDOS to you Round- Rock Muffler.

For the last 14 years I have been visiting this Midas and having several vehicles repaired here . Gary and his crew are the most honest people I have met in the auto repair business in many many years. Additionally I own 3 box trucks and if they worked on those I would have them repaired here as well. I have two one ton trucks, plus a honda and a dodge. They can repair just about anything at this location. Although they do not do engine work or rebuild transmissions anything else you can count on these guys to get the job done and in a reasonable amount of time. My Ford F350 and my Chevrolet 3500 are serviced at this location and when I pick them up the work is always top notch . From front end repair, brakes, alignments, a/c work, and tune ups, they are hard to beat in the city of Georgetown, TX . Just wanted to give Gary and his crew this review and let them know that I recommend them to anyone in the area. I spend thousands of dollars on maintenance each and every year with these great guys.
