For an inexpensive oil change Id recommend this place. Only if youve made an appointment and know your vehicle is in good condition & wont be needing any other repairs. I had my oil changed. Very minor, thankfully. Yes, I had an appointment so it took about 35 to 40 minutes. While I was waiting they brought my cabin air filter to me, which I appreciate knowing was filthy, but tried to sell me a replacement for about 30% more than it would cost me to do it myself; then proceeded to explain how bad my brakes were. Ok thats not the worst part... I respectfully declined and wasnt pressured beyond that. Thank you. Im not an expert and I dont pretend to be one, but I can, and have rebuilt my own engine and fixed my own vehicles- so I know enough to never be taken for a ride. I overheard a poor guy talking to them about financing his repairs. He needed them quickly because his work truck was his livelihood. I felt so sorry for him. It wasnt that he needed a whole lot of work done to the truck, not complicated, but was obviously unprepared & not familiar with automobile repairs. He was literally signing away his life for the amount of money they were asking to do the service, somewhere around $900, which then jumped to $1200 to include a belt that would ALREADY be OFF during the original repair. I know the service he was getting costs between $300-$600 at other places... They had him hook, line & sinker. Shortly after, an unhappy middle-aged man came in to the lobby with his keys dangling from his hand & arm stretched out toward the desk. His "truck broke down just after driving it out of the parking lot...". It was now in the Home Depot parking lot, aprox 100 yards from where he stood. Minutes later, I overheard the front desk clerk talking to a customer over the phone about another vehicle that had broken down, they had just "repaired on the day before", as he explained to the service manager, right in front of EVERYONE in the lobby. I was there for 35-40 min... I would say those were pretty high odds. Sorry Sun Auto... Maybe test your mechanics a little more or at least try keeping these things out of the public eye.

Sun Auto advertises that you should go to them instead of a dealer! Read this, then you decide if you want to trust Sun Auto with your vehicle. ~ On Nov. 11, 2009, I went to Sun Auto with my Jeep Cherokee. It was idling roughly, almost dying, when hot and the engine check light was on. They worked on it for several hours and charged me $360.28. I paid. Problem continued. ~ On March 8, after having driven less that 200 miles, I went back with the exact same problem. They worked on it some more and charged me another $522.28. I paid. ~ On March 12, four days later, I had the exact same problem and took it back in. I thought they should make good their work. Instead they did more work, without permission for additional charges, and charged me an additional $391.44. ~ I complained that I should not be paying for work that did not fix the problem. The manager said that he was so sure that the latest work would fix the problem that I should pay the latest bill and he would guarantee problem fixed -- if not there would be a refund. Manager went to lunch. Big argument continues. Bo Shupin, now at the desk said if I took the car without paying it would be theft of services! He was very over-bearing. I paid. On way home, car failed again. On the same day, I took the car back with a service bulletin, that I found on the internet, saying the problem need a $6 insulating heat shield. Showed the bulletin to Bo Shupin, who said I already had that part on my car. More argument. I took him and his service people out to the car and showed them that the shield was not there. They wanted to continue working on it . . . but I insisted on the the refund of that weeks costs that the manager had promised and that we had all witnessed. They refunded the amount of that weeks repair bills - $913.72. ~ I left considering myself lucky to get that back. I went to a dealer, got the part recommended by the bulletin and put it in myself. Guess what, it fixed the problem. I will not be returning to Sun Auto Service anytime soon.

I actually had a very good experience with Sun Auto Service. I brought my 2002 Jeep Wrangler in for services on 18 July, prior to a long road trip. It is old, has a lot of miles, and the check engine light was on. I knew that I had an evap leak since I ran the diagnostic myself prior to bringing the vehicle in. I also knew that I had other issues since the vehicle is very old and still has all of the original parts. They identified the evap leak and informed me that most of the hoses were old and needed replacing. Because of the evap leak, I needed a flush due to carbon build-up. They also noticed that my serpentine belt was cracked. They thought that my rear axle had a leak which I had taken in for repairs three times at a Meineke in Killeen who installed the axle seal wrong three times. I finally had it repaired at Jeep Masters in Austin three weeks prior to taking it to Sun Auto. I was ready to shell out another $600 for a new axle and labor since it was an ongoing problem that I just wanted to be fixed and done with. The mechanic ran out to inform me and the cashier, as the cashier was ordering the axle, that the previous mechanic did not clean the axle seal and surrounding parts after the previous work and that the axle seal was fine, saving me from spending more money unnecessarily. They provided me with a ride home since the repairs would take several hours and then picked me up once my vehicle was done. I dont live close to the shop, so I thought that was a nice gesture. They did not do any work without my permission. They also didnt charge me for the oil change and services. I had an overall good experience with this business and I will take my vehicle to them again for my next basic services. I gave them a 2 instead of a three because I believe that they are a bit pricey compared to other places Ive taken my vehicle in the past, but my Jeep runs great and they did it all on a very short time line. I did not have to make an appointment.

I am writing this review because of a bad experience I had with Sun Auto Service. I brought my car in for a routine oil change which was completed OK. However the service manager said that the CV boot was damaged and needed to be replaced. We agreed to have them make the repair but not to start until we got confirmation that the work could be completed on time for us to meet a relative at the airport. That was on a Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening we found out that the CV boot was covered by the Toyota warranty even though Sun Auto told us that it wasnt. We called Sun Auto at 6:55 am on Friday morning to tell them not to start the repair. They indicated that they had already started the repair even though we had instructed them to wait, but would stop and put it back together. We took the car to the Toyota dealer in Round Rock who said after looking at it that the besides the CV boot, the axle and wheel bearing were also damaged by someone not tightening the axle nut which damaged the threads on the axle. Toyota of Round Rock indicated that all that needed to be replaced was the CV boot. But because of all the other damage that was done, they would not honor the warranty. I contacted Sun Auto telling them of the issue and they claimed that they did not work on the car even though there was visible evidence that they had. Sun Auto initially wanted $640 to repair the CV boot and axle and would not take any responsibility for anything else. I subsequently brought the car to Champions Toyota who made the repairs under warranty for nothing. I am certain that Sun City Auto was not truthful with me about not removing the axle and that they wanted an unreasonable amount of money for a repair that should have not cost more than $200.
