Recently, we had several things seem to go out all at once, including a broken door latch. Took it back to Scott (we had been there once before) and went through a small list of concerns, and left the vehicle with them. The portion of the quote for fixing the door was $45. After 5 days at the shop, we find out that the car is ready for a total of $440+ dollars. However, we are told that they could not reproduce a number of our issues (even though I offered to show them the problems in the parking lot). Apparently the service they pushed as the solution didnt work. Well, whatever, at least the annoying issue of the back door latch was fixed. The next day my wife takes the car out of town, and while packing notices the door handle still doesnt work. I try it, and what do you know, it acts exactly the same as it did before. When she gets back, I call the shop (on a Thursday) and speak with Scott about the door. I ask to bring it in, and he says they can get to it that next morning. We brought it in Thursday after work. I also told Scott about another issue they said they could never reproduce (an alarm message), and that it had evident even when I picked it up from them before. Behind the desk, another mechanic started going on and on about "well I must have turned it on and off 20 times!" in a rather rude and oddly accusing manner (as though I was lying about it). Whatever, at this point I just wanted them to fix the door. My wife and I do the whole double commute thing the next day. I never hear from the shop. I presume that because I was told they would handle it on Friday, it would be done, so we coordinated commutes to put us back at the shop Friday after work. I walk in, and Scott isnt there. I speak with the rude mechanic from the day before...he says rather smugly that gee, they just didnt have enough time to look at it today (I think he was mad about the alarm thing). I was starting to get pretty irritated with the whole matter now, but I didnt start a scene or anything. I said I would prefer to take the car home for the weekend instead of leaving it sitting by the highway, and we agreed that I would bring it in before work the following Monday. While waiting for my keys, I hear him tell someone on the phone that he is Steve. Ok, this is the guy that owns the shop? I bring it in Monday before work, again doing the whole double commute thing with my wife. Its 8:30 AM, and here is Steve again, no Scott. Steve is on the phone with apparently another upset customer who seemed to have an issue with when his vehicle would be ready. The response from Steve: "We didnt get to it Friday. No, we dont work on Saturday. Well we are just getting started now, so no, we havent looked at it today either." Seems others are having the same problems as we are. All day, no call. At 3:00 PM, I finally call. He says the door is fixed. Alright, double commute back to the shop. I go in, pick up my keys and thank him (no charge) and walk out to the car. I try the door. It doesnt work. What the hell?!? I walk back back and inform Steve of the door problem. His response "I must have tried that door 20 times!" Right. He quotes me a new latch...nice, $280+ bucks. Obviously, no. Since we have to take it to the dealer for the things they couldnt figure out, well let them fix the door too. I ask them to refund the $45 we were charged for fixing the door (after now 3 attempts to let them fix it). Steve quite rudely refuses, and calls it a "diagnostic fee". Not again. Steve was unprofessional, rude, unreasonable, and apparently inept. Scotts courteous demeanor was the only redeeming quality about this place.

Pros: Labor rate is fair Work is quality and techs/mechanics are skilled Chad (shop mechanic) came off as no-nonsense and really seemed to know his stuff; I think he even may have set my alignment to compensate for road-crown which I highly appreciated (this is not always done but I prefer it). Cons(?) Be aware parts markup is about 100%. However that may very well be market rate. I wouldnt know as I DIY most of my own work and so have been out of the mechanic shop loop for many years. If you have any concerns on this call around. However: PTAC got me in same day and had the job completed within hours without an appointment. 3 hours turnaround time without an appointment is FANTASTIC. Especially as I ended up needing inner tie rods (which Chad and Darryl both showed me the symptoms of worn out inner tie rods and how it would affect my Alignment). Thoughts: If you need an oil change, do it yourself or go to a lube shop so REAL mechanics dont have a jammed up schedule trying to help people with genuine repair issues. ^THIS is why you wait forever trying to get real work done at a shop. Btw if you peek inside youll notice that they have a absolutely top of the line alignment rack.. let that tell you something about where the money goes because those things are NOT cheap. Any shop that dishes out the money for an alignment rack may very well charge a little more (i.e.they bought the rack and the other guy didnt).

Steves Automotive Services is by far the nicest and best place i have ever been to when it comes to automotive care. Scott Pattison is the manager and is who i have always had the pleasure of dealing with. Everyones knows going to get your car fixed is always a scary matter on who to trust and depend on for honesty. I got pretty bad news on my 01 Lumina but i knew it was coming, i got a good three years at of the old used junker! But I was happy with my experience there because i knew scott and his men went all in checking it out instead of just telling me the obvious and fixing one of many things that were wrong like alot of shops would have done. If you are in the cedar park or round rock or heck even austin area i guarantee you can trust these guys, they will not do you wrong and you WILL be satisfied. The sign says Volvo specialist but they can work on anything so dont let thay scare you off if your driving something else. Best of luck to anyone having car trouble and Thanks so much to Steves Automotive Services!

Awful experience. Took for alignment Saturday and four hours later I was told the alignment machine was broke. They fixed a bearing which was ok but not what I brought my vehicle in for. So left with jacked up alignment and was told to come back Monday a.m. first thing and itd be fixed. Good thing I called first Monday cause machine was still broken. Tuesday same thing. Took in Wed. at 10 a.m. to a line of people and told Id have to wait hours. So I told the manager the situation and how Ive been waiting since Saturday morning to get alignment done. He said theres 4 people in front of you. "If youd like your keys back you can take it somewhere else." I replied Ive already paid for work yall havent done so no it will be fixed here. Unprofessional rude employee in the office area. Argumentative and cut me off several times while I was explaining the situation. Worst automotive experience Ive ever had. Will not be back and will tell as many people as I can to stay away and take your car to a professional.
