My a/c was blowing hot air and my normal a/c repair man was not available. So I called Wilson based on all the seemingly good reviews it got on google. The lady I spoke over the phone to make the appointment was very nice. They could come out that same day to take a look at the a/c. Within 15 minutes of arrival, the tech told me I would need a completely new a/c system, both the compressor and the air handler unit need replacement. He quote me a price of $5,300 for the whole job. He said my a/c system was leaking freon and he could not recharge them. He then proceed to told me all these new rules/laws that the EPA came out on how he cannot recharge freon on r22 system, so replacement the whole system is the only choice. Never once he identify where it was leaking from and how badly of a leak it was. I paid the tech $80 for his time and told him I sleep on it. I waited for my regular repair man to become available, he came over, fixed the leak, recharged my freon for less than $300 dollars. So Im very confused, how can this company got so many good reviews and yet either they are dishonest and try to cheat their customer or they just blatantly incompetence. I will never use this company again. ******************** This is the real regulation on R22 refrigerant from the EPA: So what the tech told me was true, if this was 2020. --------------------- Under the terms of the Montreal Protocol, the U.S. agreed to meet certain obligations by specific dates that will affect the residential heat pump and air-conditioning industry: January 1, 2004: The Montreal Protocol required the U.S. to reduce its consumption of HCFCs by 35% below the U.S. baseline cap. As of January 1, 2003, EPA banned production and import of HCFC-141b, the most ozone-destructive HCFC. This action allowed the United States to meet its obligations under the Montreal Protocol. EPA was able to issue 100% of company baseline allowances for production and import of HCFC-22 and HCFC-142b. January 1, 2010: The Montreal Protocol requires the U.S. to reduce its consumption of HCFCs by 75% below the U.S. baseline. Allowance holders may only produce or import HCFC-22 to service existing equipment. Virgin R-22 may not be used in new equipment. As a result, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system manufacturers may not produce new air conditioners and heat pumps containing R-22. January 1, 2015: The Montreal Protocol requires the U.S. to reduce its consumption of HCFCs by 90% below the U.S. baseline. January 1, 2020: The Montreal Protocol requires the U.S. to reduce its consumption of HCFCs by 99.5% below the U.S. baseline. Refrigerant that has been recovered and recycled/reclaimed will be allowed beyond 2020 to service existing systems, but chemical manufacturers will no longer be able to produce R-22 to service existing air conditioners and heat pumps.

Our A/C and heating unit were 18 years old. By afternoon when the temperatures were high, the temperatures in the house were so high that it had gotten hard to sleep. We had used Wilson in the past and been exceptionally pleased with our bandaids (as some reviewers refer to them). I dont think we could have asked for more from our old system. Still working, but needed to be put to pasture. The most impressive aspect of the whole transaction was dealing with Clint, the person who initially investigated our system and made recommendations. We had set up to have three additional estimates the same day. Clint presented himself in a trustworthy and professional manner, even to the point of locking up and letting my dogs out and back in since I had to leave before the work was done. WOW!! What a professional and friendly staff. Mr. Wilson must be very proud. Tyrone,Mike,Seth and the ladies in the office were courteous efficient and addressed all of my concerns. I really appreciated the service peoples attitude and job ethic. Thanks for the thoughtful unexpected "surprise gift." I am glad I stopped by the store to ask about tank-less water heaters We paid $200 more than the "other guys" bid because of two things - Clint wowed us with his hands on service and Wilsons warranty was more than $200 more impressive than the large national chain with which we did not not go. They even followed up and added duct work to ensure that two rooms got more airflow. The second crew was even nicer than the first. We will stick with Wilson for the great service we received, but well probably ask for Clint because he isnt much of a used car salesman - just an honest guy doing an honest days work. The kids, and the dogs, are extremely happy the house can get cool enough to need a light blanket at night. A good nights sleep in a comfortable setting - priceless.

We are five years into a complete nightmare because we made the mistake of choosing these people. We hired them to replace our system and the ductwork. They lied to us in order to avoid removing and replacing some of the ductwork under the house - our mistake for not crawling under there to check for ourselves, but we trusted them. The first summer that rolled around the air conditioning would run 24 hours a day and could not get the house cooler than about 85 degrees. When we called, we were told by easily the most rude person I have ever had to deal with that the system should not be expected to keep the house more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside termperature. That clearly was a lie, since once we got Trane involved (after numerous efforts by Wilson to fix the system) their contention turned out to be another lie. In addition, they did not give us a Trane warranty, only one of their own (now that I know better, I wonder why they didnt give us the Trane one...) and it required us to use them for annual checkups. Well, with the experience we had the first two years, we did not want them anywhere near our house again. Now our heating system is down and we are lucky that Trane is willing to honor their warranty on the parts at least, as long as we use one of their preferred companies (and Wilson is not on that list - interesting). Not only that, it looks like some of their work was not up to code either so we have to pay for additional fixes. Do yourself a big favor and find someone who is reputable - from our experience these people are not looking out for your best interests.

This company installed the HVAC system in our home prior to our purchase and the prior owner bought a service contract which was transferrable to us. In January I had them come out to perform a service check. They sent a technician who looked barely out of high school who could not perform the check as he could not figure out how to access the unit. I asked him to report that back to the office as I did not feel we got a complete service check. I never heard back from anyone following that visit. This week I scheduled our spring AC check and specifically asked for an experienced tech due to the problems last go round. The tech that came out today was great, very professional, and indeed could access the unit. The filter was in desperate need of a change as it was not done at the last visit due to the incompetence of the tech. Now Wilson wants to charge me $70 to change the filter (which is supposed to be included in the service check - the cost of the filter). After explaining that the last tech did not check it, the company is still unwilling to change the filter unless I pay $70 for the filter. While the tech was great this go round, the customer service of Steve, the owner, is atrocious. He is willing to forego having us as a repeat customer over a $15 filter because he hires teenagers who are poorly trained an incompetent. If you do decide to use this company, ensure you get someone who knows what they are doing, because the owner will not make it right if they fail to do their job right the first time.
