This companies Technician came out due to the fan in the inside unit not coming on due to a relay. He told the tenent that he could not get a relay that he would have to find a new one himself and the technician jumped it to get it to run. The motor ran all night and caught fire which luckly it was noticed and power was shut off and fire extingushed!!! Hutchins Company then wanted to charge for a new motor and was able to get a new relay at that time. Funny how they were able to get a relay after the motor was burnt and before it was something the customer was going to have to hunt down before!!! The tenents contacted me and informed me of what had happened and I contacted Hutchins and they were telling me that they could cover half the price of the motor. I had to threaten them with legalities and they aggreed to replace the motor but tried to escape the warranty for the work. I was able to get them to warrant the parts under the manufactures warranty in order to get the unit back running for my tenents but only after I signed a waiver releasing them from any other equipment breakdown which seems silly to me seeing as how they just need to cover the parts that they replace. The rest of the unit is the rest of the unit. I am going to call in another company to inspect the work once it is done. At this time it has not been completed. They told me that they can get started in the morning so my poor tenents have to endure a hot night until this is done. I will comment again once the work is completed and again once the unit is inspected.

I just want to add my comment to others in an effort to help someone making a choice of plumbing Companies. This is our experience only, and it may differ from others. We had a minor leak under the sink in our master bath. I attempted to repair the leak, and I was not successful. Rather than continue trouble shooting my wife refered to the yellow pages. They do run a nice ad. The service many came out, very polite, and said he would work on the "peeTrap" under the sink for "$286. That had been the first thing I tried and felt it was not the problem.. BUT $286... WOW that was nuts for a peetrap, and very doubtful that was the problem, as the service man said it would be more if the peetrap was not the problem. We sent him on his way, and he wanted $69.00 for a trip charge to tell us "NOTHING". We called another plumber "Reeves Family Plumbing". They were out the next morning at 7:30 sharp. It was NOT the peetrap. The line was stopped up due to the air conditioning drainage and they ran a rooter through the line cleaned it out. Checked for other leakage, and a charge of $128.00. It is my thought that the Hutinson guy would have said the obvious the peetrap was not the problem and charge us another overpriced fee. Like someone else probaly in the $500 range while they tried different causes.

Called them to get an estimate on putting up a ceiling fan on a regular (not high) ceiling. They would not give an estimate over the phone. With good reason. $69 service trip, which is fine, as it would have been included into the cost if I had them do the work. The electrician who came over was a great guy, very professional. But the prices quoted were astronomical. $230 for the first fan??? Would have ended up charging over $150/hour. Insane! Should have been a red flag when they would not even give me a ball park figure on how much it would cost. Expensive! But must be good to have lasted for so many years, however too rich for me. After I wrote his review, read some of the others. Guess they are too expensive for a lot of people. Wish them well, but I will not be calling them back to my place for any further work... Wish I had used a proper computer instead of looking them up on my iPhone.

As we know ratings are critical and my experience has been anything but a 2.8 with Hutchins Plumbing & Air Conditioning. After trying to replace a toilet on my own with limited success I placed a call and within 90 minutes had a professional and friendly plumber at our home. The toilet leak was fixed and I paid what I considered to be a fair price for the work. Unfortunately, water being water, it found another point to escape and a follow-up call was placed. My rating of 5 reflects not only my initial interactions with the company but more importantly how they took ongoing ownership of the quality of their work. I received a call from the owner directly who took personally responsibility for remediation and am happy to report we are leak free.

Update on first review: Almost one year later, Hutchins took care of us again, when the existing dust work and zoning system needed replacement. As always, they were well priced, considerate and took great care of us!! We closed on our new house and within 24 hours, the entire AC system died. After an unresponsive home warranty refused to help, Hutchins stepped in. Their installers arrived on time and worked to get the new unit installed. We couldnt be happier with the experience! August in Texas is no time to have to get a new AC, but they really made it as painless as possible.

Had a drip coming from the ceiling. Tech came out, looked around a bit, said "it has to be the toilet, but of course dont know for sure." Ill admit, we are clueless on house care... he said hed replace the toilet seal and it would cost two hundred, plus the service fee on top of that. Clueless us, we said okay. Now we know that its a three dollar wax ring and we can do it ourselves! Really feel like we were ripped off. Will not use them again.

I learned and old expression in business these guys should too, "You can have wool all the time but lamb chops once". Take it to heart Hutchins the money you gained from overcharging clients is nothing to what you lost for being crooked.. You took advantage of my wife while I was out of town and as for reference I make sure everyone knows it. $400.00 for a simple $10.00 compressor capacitor. You suck!!!

Never never never do business with this company. Needed some work done on a toilet and was charged $486 for a stopper inside the toilet and a $15 piece of equipment that goes in your toilet. When I offered to pay a reasonable price, which they could not quote me one on the phone, they refused so I refuse to pay. THEY filed a lien on my house.

They came out for a simple leaky toilet repair and quoted over $550. So....if you want to pay 2-3 times as much as the next guy you could call go ahead. Otherwise....keep looking past these guys.
