Mid-Cities Service Center tried to coerce me into making EXPENSIVE, UNNECESSARY REPAIRS on my car. This is a very clean place and they are aggressive with requesting reviews, which explains their misleading ratings. I was not impressed with their lackadaisical service, condescending attitudes, and unscrupulous business practices. I will NOT be returning. I took my car to them for an inspection. First, they refused to accept the detail of coverage letter as proof of insurance. I was taking my wife’s car in, so I only had the card for my car. They wanted the card with her car’s VIN. The policy number, both VINs and dates of coverage were all there, but they claimed it wasn’t acceptable because “it’s just an offer, not proof”. Even though the cards were sent WITH THE OFFER. They did call the insurance company and get them to fax a copy of all three pages of cards. Just useless and unnecessary. Strike 1. I went to lunch and asked them to call if there was any issue. They did not call. Strike 2. When I returned, they said the car had failed inspection, but he couldn’t tell why. He printed an extra page stating it failed Safety due to “power steering fluid leaks in three places”. They said I had to replace the entire rack & pinion system, and of course that requires an alignment, estimate $1250. Strike 3, swinging? I took the car to my usual inspection station the next weekend, and they said (a) the power steering leak has nothing to do with an inspection, and (b) it wasn’t that bad. It passed the inspection. It was worth another $25 to find out for sure. And the insurance policy letter was perfectly acceptable. Then I took the car to my regular mechanic, and he said the leaks were very small, very old, and are no cause for concern (it’s a 300K mile car). I wanted to find out for sure before I wrote this review. I am not sure if they are completely dishonest or just hidebound and militantly over-cautious. They recommended expensive, unnecessary repairs, and used the state inspection process to drum up business. The Deceptive Trade Practices - Consumer Protection Act makes it illegal to “Knowingly make a false or misleading statement about the need for parts, replacement or repair service,” but they could claim they truly believed the car was so dangerous it wouldn’t even pass a state-regulated safety inspection. This turned out to be false, on multiple accounts. But it’s a matter of opinion. Maybe they’re not dishonest, mendacious crooks. Maybe they had a bad day, and need to make payments on their Jet-Skis. BE WARNED.

I brought my vehicle in for an ac issue. Problem was identified and I received estimate for repair. The go ahead was given for the repair. Within an hour after dropping off the car for the repair, I received a phone message stating that a situation had occurred and that there needed to be a change in the game plan. I called and was informed by Ron (manager), that in the process of removing a part off the ac compressor, a bolt broke off and that they would need to replace that component in addition to what was already discussed. I felt that given the fact that the bolt was broken by them, rendering the part useless, that they should take responsibility and replace the part. This was communicated to Ron during our conversation, however Ron stated that they were not responsible for this part and defended his position by telling me that if the bolt broke while they were putting it in due to misalignment they would be responsible but they were not responsible for a bolt breaking during the removal process. I was not at all happy with this inflexible position taken by Ron, but told him to go ahead and find the part so that I could get my car back (I need my car) with a working ac system. The part was located (a used part as I was told they do not manufacture this part anymore) and I was quoted 90.00 for this part. I was then told that it would be an additional 110.00 in labor for this part. It was at this point that I felt I was getting screwed. I told Ron to just go ahead and fix it. I phoned and spoke to an attorney regarding the situation after the conversation with Ron. I was advised that this would be a small claims matter and would involve time and hassle. I picked up the vehicle latter that day spending an additional 200.00 above what was originally discussed. As stated earlier, it is my opinion (and that of the attorney) that the responsibility for the part and certainly the labor should have been absorbed by the Mid Cities and not by me. As for the repair, it is 8 days post repair and the ac is blowing cold air. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND NOR WILL I USE Mid Cities for any future repair needs.

A friend referred me to mid cities over 6 years ago. I had a odd engine problem with my Explorer and the Ford dealer wanted to replace everything instead of figure out what was wrong. They also wanted to charge a crazy amount of $$$. It took midcities a couple of tries but they got it fixed and did not cost anything near what the dealer wanted and it did not take replacing everything too. We also had problem with our Jeep Chereoke wearing tires fast and the dealer could not fix that either. Mid cities fixed on their first try.I am not the best in taking my cars in for regular maint so when I do bring them in it is cause I have waited to long and the problems got worse. Mid cities is always fast in getting my car back to me and asking if I need to be picked up to get my car. One time on my way over to take them the Jeep, it broken down south on hwy 360 and they came and got me. They do go above and beyond. I am so dedicated to this place that I travel over 25miles to get my cars to them.( I used to live close but moved.) I recently purchased a new car and ask mid cities questions on what they felt was a reliable car and what to watch for on those extended warrenties. How many places do you know do all that? me, only 1. midcities.

I have brought numerous automobiles to Mid-Cities Service Center, and they have always provided excellent service at a very affordable price. I can honestly tell you that I have never been disappointed in the quality or cost of service they provide. I previously brought my Infiniti to the local dealership, and they wanted to charge me over $1600 for a problem with the on-board computer. A close friend that was very happy with Mid-Cities Service Center recommended that I let them give me a second opinion, and I am so glad I did because they were able to resolve the problem for less than $300. I have since returned to Mid-Cities Service Center on numerous occasions, and they have always exceeded my expectations. Thanks to Bob Parra the Owner, Ron Taskey - Manager, Tam Burks - Manager, and the whole crew at Mid-Cities Service Center for their excellent customer service. The office managers, Ron and Tam, have made arrangements for one of their guys to give me a ride back home when I leave my vehicle. Thats good customer service. Anytime I need any service for my vehicle I go to Mid-Cities Service Center because I know it will be done right, and for a fair price. Thanks, David in Hurst, TX.
