I received a insurance settlement for a full replacement of roofing shingles, after contacting another roofing contractor to complete a roof replacement, they contacted me back 2 weeks later after forgetting that I told them the color and asked for a appointment date previously. I got tired of dealing with such bad customer service, thats when I called Lon Smith Roofing to set up a estimate of the roof. They were originally the roofing company that had installed the old roof on my house in 1995 and I looked up their reviews on BBB website as well which showed mostly positive reviews. Robbie got a hold of me and scheduled a time a few days later and showed up on time and was very friendly and not pushy at all. He said he could offer me a upgraded lifetime shingles for the price of a 25 year shingles for a special promotion they were running. The next day I decided to go with them and they arrange all the contract paperwork with my insurance company so I didnt have to deal with them anymore about payment or anything else which was nice when dealing with the insurance company so much already in the past. A few weeks later they came to install the new roof because of the busy holiday and recent rain and completed the installation without issue. They did splash tar from the old roof onto my garage door but fixed the problem by having painters paint the whole garage door after trying to unsuccessfully to remove the tar. Also Robbie was nice enough to fix a wood panel in front of my garage without charge just to help me out on a side note. I would recommend Lon Smith to friends or family looking for a reputable well established roofing company in the local DFW area. Description of job completed: Tear off old roof shingles and replace with upgraded shingles from 3 tab to Owens Corning Oakridge Truedef Driftwood. Remove and replace 2 sheets of 1/2 inch cdx at base of chimney. Install #15 Deck Procection, perimeter metal, Remove and reset 2 turbines.

Following a wave of hail storms this past Spring, my wife and I were in desperate need of a new roof, along with gutters, on our first home. One phone call to Lon Smith and all of our anxiety about roofers was quelled. We scheduled a meeting with the salesman, who arrived two minutes early... a great foreshadowing of the overall experience! After spending only 20mins surveying our property, the salesman then spent nearly an hour working through the process with us... as was our first time to replace a roof, we had a LOT of questions - none too much for the salesman, including a discussion of modifying the new installation to better suit our needs going forward. When the time came for install, we received a phone call a few days in advance to a) confirm scheduled install, b) review preparation requirements, and c) confirm remaining steps of process. The roof installation was completed in one day, including clean up. Truly, I was only able to find one nail on the ground afterwards... very encouraging as we have a daughter and a puppy that could be prone to stepping on them. The gutter installation would be the only area in which I could offer any negative regarding the experience... that said, Lon Smith made clear that they are not directly responsible for this portion, as they contract the work to be completed. While the gutters were installed to satisfaction, we were surprised that the installers simply showed up, unannounced, a few days after the roof install. Furthermore, they did not complete the job initially, leaving one downspout unmounted. Needless to say, Lon Smiths Inspector was sure to follow up and get this resolved within 72hrs. Overall, I must say the experience was the best one could hope for... one initial phone call, one face to face meeting, and two weeks later the job was complete, and we are VERY satisfied.

Recently, we had our entire roof replaced using Lon Smith. Several years ago, we made the mistake of using an unknown “roofing company” that not only put on a terrible roof that leaked in more places than originally, but also damaged our bank account with all the repairs. We were amazed when another family member had their roof replaced using a real roofing company, Lon Smith, and we knew we would for certain be using them to replace ours. Lon Smith provided excellent service through the estimator (*Alan-a pleasure to work with) that came to guide us through the process…he was patient, helpful (never pushy). offered samples of every option, and guided us through all the detailed options we wanted. Once all the decisions were made (and we took our time, believe me!) the date was set to get our new roof. The guys arrived early and worked very hard…it was a hot day and they took a break for lunch and then they were back at it. Our roof was completed in one day! Can I just share that the previous company we used that was NOT Lon Smith took 5 days…and left nails and trash everywhere. Lon Smith cleaned up everything SO well and we didn’t have to worry about stray nails and hidden trash. It was so clean…cleaner than before they came;) There were a couple small details that we changed throughout the day as the roof was being put on, and we were able to do so with the crew. It was great working with Lon Smith and cant recommend them enough. -JB

After a long wait, which was understandable due to the volume of damaged houses in the area, we had our roof replaced by Lon Smith. Prior to signing a contract we were told that Lon Smith’s crew would perform the work in a safe an professional manner (i.e. cover/protect landscaping, pickup nails after completion, etc.), but thats not exactly what happened. > No steps were taken to protect the landscaping. > The crews accumulated so much non-roofing related trash (plastic bottles, fast food packaging, etc.) during their work that it started blowing into the neighbors yards. > They bent up the gutter screens. > They threw material off the roof and punctured my trash can and tore a hole in my grill cover. > They unscrewed the satellite dish and let it hang by the cable off the side of the house for a day or two….didn’t work after that. > While they did drag a magnet thru the yard (literally) it has been fairly easy for my 2 year old to find lots of nails lying around. > They forgot to replace the roof on my shed… which was a line item in the contract > They forgot to replace the metal sheeting for the weather vane… which was a line item in the contract > They sent me a final invoice prior to work being completed and inspected. They came back and replaced the roof on the shed a week later and fixed the gutters and weather vane. We are satisfied with the quality of the roof but it was a bit frustrating getting to the point of completion.

We had to wait for quite a while for the work to be started, but it was understandable due to the number of damaged houses in our area after a recent storm. Prior to signing up with Lon Smith we were told how the work would be completed, such as protection of landscape, keeping a clean work area, cleaning up upon completion, etc… but that’s not exactly what transpired. They made no effort to protect the landscape, the non-work related trash (i.e. fast food wrappers, drink bottles, etc) piled up to the point that it started blowing around the neighborhood, they threw roofing materials off the roof and punctured my trash can and tore a hole in my outdoor grill cover, they unscrewed the satellite dish and let it “dangle” by the cable for a couple of days and it didn’t work thereafter (had to call the service provider and have them fix it), they completed the roof on the house and promptly sent me an invoice without re-roofing the shed and replacing the base plate on the weather vane (which were itemized work items on the contract), then after a week or so they returned to finish the work. Upon completion, they literally “dragged” a magnet around the perimeter of the house to pick up nails, but it has been easy for my 2-year-old to find numerous nails throughout the yard. The finished product seems to be good but it didn’t progress the way they had explained prior to signing a contract.
