SCAM---SCAM---TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, and AWEFUL, is what I describe my experience with Just Breaks in Frisco, TX. They are not honest, and I felt like they were just trying to get every cent from my wallet that they could get! So it all started when I took my car in to get the breaks serviced. I mean this store is called "Just Breaks," so I thought my car would be truly taken care of in a place where they specialize in preforming break repairs. First of all when my husband and I got to the store, I asked about the $99.00 special (break pads and resurface rotors)they advertise on the radio all the time. I was told by the manager that my car was not included in this special due to the make and model of my vehicle.---FIRST SCAM. (I later called another Just Breaks store after the fact, because I had so many problems with my service from this store, just to see if what they would say about the special, and they preceded to tell me that my car qualified for the special of $99.00). Anyways, I didnt get the $99.00 special. I got the $1400.00 special!! It was like a car salesman selling me a new and shiny car, he told me that my break pads are bad on front and back breaks (mostly the back breaks), as well and my rotors (he said they were not repairable), and also that my calibrators need to be replaced. He also preceded to talk in some fancy break repair man talk about why I needed these certain rotors over another kind of rotors, and these calibrators over another kind of calibrators. Mind you that my car is a 2011, I honestly do not believe that a newer car needs all of these items--especially calibrators--but hey, Im not the expert at breaks--he is. So when I finally asked him my total--he said, "That will add up to 1400.00."--and that was only for my back breaks. Oh and another thing---another terrible terrible mistake on my part...I had them look at my air conditioner. My air was acting up in my car, so I asked them to test the cooling system. $1400.00 later, when I picked my car up, they told me that they cleaned and replaced the antifreeze because it was dirty. I was like, ok, cool, thanks. When I turned my air conditioning on it was blowing HOT, I mean HOTT air out. It was not like this before. I told the guy that my car was not blowing hot air out before, it just wasnt as cold as it used to be. He told me that they replaced my coolant, and thats all they could do. He also said he couldnt help me at the moment because the "air conditioning guy wasnt there at the time." How are they going to return my car back to me in worse condition that I dropped it off? I ended up taking my car to an air conditioning service center. They said that there was NO antifreeze in my car at all, and if I would have drove any further it could had completely overheated my engine! Are you kidding me....JUST BREAKS did not even replace my antifreeze in my car. They left it empty!!! And on top of that I had to pay another $200.00- to replace the antifreeze that Just Breaks took out of my car and never replaced!!! OKAY-----The point I am trying to make is: Just Brakes is not a reliable place to take your car. I would be scared they would do the same thing to your car/and wallet that they did to me. Do yourself a favor and research other places, and take your car somewhere else for you break needs. Also NEVER NEVER have them check or fix anything to do with you air condition. I would have gave them the benefit of a doubt if they would have apologized and fixed their mistake, but they did not do that. They are more concerned with $$$ then their service or customers satisfaction. DONT GO HERE!!! EVER!!!

I took my car in last October because of a popping sound on the passenger front wheel. The car is used with around 80k miles, and I was unsure of the prior history as far as brake/suspension work. I was shown all the issues and told that it would need new shocks and struts on all four wheels and showed me where the back shock was leaking grease, and where the front had done something or other and needed to be replaced. Im pretty sure they rubbed grease on the back shock as a few other reviewers have noted this method. Over a grand later, 4 new shocks and struts. A few months goes by, doing ok. Then the same popping sound comes back and a horrible sound starts coming from the drivers side- a bad grinding and creaking upon acceleration and braking. I took it back in four separate times (thinking the problem would be fixed under the 12 month warranty that I received from the work back in October) and the managers solution each time was to just keep putting more lube on it. This afternoon, I finally called and said that I would like the system be replaced under warranty. Only then did the manager tell me that a mechanic should take a ride with me to listen to the sound. The mechanic went with me and kept telling me that the sound was not my brakes or suspension, that it was in the dash or the steering column. The mechanic then took it back for a few minutes to check it more thoroughly. The manager came up after talking to the mechanic and said it was definitely not the brakes or suspension and that I should take it to the dealer. So I leave and miraculously, the sound is gone. For how long, I dont know. I dont trust the manager one bit- making me come back three times for the same issue and then telling me its not the suspension. I never would have gone back after the initial visit in October if I didnt think any potential replacement/repair would be covered by the 12 month warranty. They have a bad reputation in the industry for a reason- should have read the reviews first.

My experience was similar, but different. I came in knowing I needed new pads, so that was a given. The guy at the desk was very polite the entire time I was there, smiling, heck he didnt even say anything when another customer that was waiting ended up costing them a customer (the other people were standing there while she was on her phone trying to figure something out...the couple ended up walking out because she took too long). So they came out and said my calipers needed reconditioning, which he showed me a set (assuming mine) of brake pads that were unevenly worn. Odd thing...everyone I heard him talk to he recommended having the calipers reconditioned. Now I cant say that its false, just very coincidental...or could be that people neglect their brakes and dont get them inspected as they should (Ill attest to that, Im guilty). I declined at the time, wanted to do a little more research since I wasnt impressed with the price they quoted me. He didnt say anything, just said I had to come back within 90 days and get it done in order to qualify the warranty on everything, which makes perfect sense. All in all it was a normal mechanic experience for me...whens the last time you went to any mechanic and they didnt try to tell you that you needed something in addition to what you originally came in for? Especially when they will show you whats wrong and even offer to give you your old parts, come on. I say these guys are ok. If you just get your pads done, rotors machined, brakes inspected...all for $100, that price is below what youd be charged just for one hour of labor at any other place. If you dont like all the other stuff they tell you, just decline and get a second opinion...or just flat out decline and go on as-is.
