Do not join this Gym!!! I knew some of the reviews online were not complimentary - especially of the gyms tendency to charge members after a membership has ended. However, I had friends who have memberships, so I looked past the poor reviews. A few months ago, I left my i-phone at the gym right before they closed. Luckily, a member of the staff found my phone and gave it to the owner who stored it for me in a desk drawer behind the front counter. I thought- wow, really nice! What a gym! I leave my phone and they not only find it but store it for me. I let them know I would be there the following evening to pick it up. When I got there that evening, the owner and staff looked everywhere for my phone. Nada. At first, the owner was helpful. He claimed that a staff member must have moved it. When it became clear that no one had moved it and that it had disappeared from a drawer that only employees had access too, the staff started backpedaling. I noticed the video camera over the desk and asked to see the footage. They told me that they were fake video cameras. After an hour I said I would come back the next day to check on the status of my phone. By the following day- their story had changed- they told me that a customer most likely got behind the desk (even though there is always an employee behind the desk) and stole my phone. Therefore they were not liable. I asked to meet with the owner, he was of course unavailable. I said at the very least I would like to cancel my membership- as I have no interest in attending a gym where the employees steal. They said no. Not only was I out an i-phone I was also out several hundred dollars for a useless gym membership. Save yourself the trouble- join a 24 hour fitness.

I use this gym, the staff are great, plenty of equipment and good standards of cleanliness. However, lately some of the newer clientele are concerning me. I often train late a night due to shift patterns etc, last week I was dead lifting when a tubby, bald fella wearing what can only be described as elevator boots and an awful smelling T shirt waddled up to me and asked how long you gonna be IDIOT? with an aggressive and strangely nasal tone to his voice. I told him Id finish when I felt like it and I swear his response was to hold out a (shaved?) arm and state "you need to back the f**k down" while his other hand fumbled spasmodically in the elastic of his nylon shorts. At this point a trans gender person with bright green hair and size 10 feet screamed "yeah baby, show him how we roll in Texas!" I looked this fat, bald lunatic straight in the eyes and told him to go ahead and lets see where it goes, at which point he started weeping about his father who never loved him (hit him with a steel pipe?) and walked away making strange twirling motions with his fingers. Then guess what? The trans person came right over to me and offered me a speed-ball and 30 minutes of fun for $8.00, just like that! Well I can tell yall I was so mad I went straight over to the bench and hit a 500lb REVERSE grip bench press for reps. So, despite the oddballs here, its a great place to really make gains and hit a PB. Non negotiable.

I have been working out for years and used to compete in figure competitions. Ive been to many gyms in the area before I found this one a couple years ago. It is by far the best. The staff is friendly but dont bother you so you can get your workout in. The trainers dont pester you about signing up for personal training either. Most of the trainers are very good if you do want that. There is a good selection of equipment even though the gym is smaller than the big corporate gyms. The members are good about putting up their weights, wiping down equipment, and courteous to others. I also have a membership at 24 Hour Fitness in midtown only because its a lot closer to my house but I rarely go. That gym seems to always run out of paper towels to wipe down equipment (which really doesnt help since members rarely do it even when towels are available!) The cable equipment go missing clips for attaching handles and missing pins in the weight stacks. For a smaller gym Houston Gym beats the bigger and much newer 24 Hour Fitness Gym to pieces.

Ive been coming here since 2012 and been loving it ever since. The gym is small, but it has everything you need to get a great work out and more. The first floor is all weights and some cardio, but the upstairs has everything you need for a cardio workout. Theres a class area also that offers a variety of different classes for whatever it is youre looking for. Theres even an area thats tucked away and real quite in case you need a more relaxed space. All in all, Ive had a great experience here. The staff is great, the facilities have everything I need and Ive never once felt that I had to wait for a machine. The trainers are top notch too. They all have their different styles and expertise so youre never really "stuck" with just one. If youre looking for a great place to work out that doesnt come with any gimmicks and one where you dont feel like people are judging you, then this is your place.

After 3 years at this gym I am moving and wanted to leave a review about my experiences. First off this is a GREAT gym, not a typical hook-up or show-off gym. Most people are there to get their workout done and get on with their life. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, they train multiple competitors and I think they even have a couple of em at pro levels, and were always able to help with any questions I had. I had no problem cancelling my membership, I went in and filled out a card and they gave me a copy of it for my records so I don’t know what the other bad reviews are about. If you agreed to a year contract and move you should expect a fee to break your agreement, thats simple business. I recommended this gym for 3 yrs and will still continue to recommend it to anyone looking for a gym that will truly help you get results. Sorry I have to move or I would stay a member for life.

This is a great gym. The price is about average, the equipment is about average. The classes are good (and free with a general membership). Where the gym really shines is in its people. Oran, for example, is awesome. If you need help -- or need a couple extra days of your gym membership -- theyll take care of you, no questions. That kind of leadership, and the fact that the gym has a friendly neighborhood feel, is why Ill probably continue my membership even though Im moving a little bit further away. Its a great place that I would highly recommend! Only downside: the place needs at least 1-2 additional squat racks. Im not sure where they would put the racks, but they need them. Squats are an absolute necessity and the free squat is better than the machine. But yeah -- join this gym.
